Waited a good while for you to do these, great video instruction as always.
Thanks Brothers for coming good with parts you said would be coming last year.
Get this covid out the way and I’ll be ordering 👍👍
Right on!
hi !! great video thanks for all !! can we put this drop axle in combo with the low leaf spring ?? and if yes did i have to change something for the pit arm or other thing ? thanks
You can, but you're getting into really low territory where you're going to start having clearance issues and problems with steering components like the pitman arm you mentioned.
I just installed this axle in my 51 3100 .. this video was the exact replica of what I ran into .. thank you for the tips !
We're always glad to hear that our videos helped someone out! Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the video. You got more than lucky removing that king pin. I once had a red hot angry one come out of a 50 ton press and shoot right past me. They can defiantly be a problem for the home shop.
Yeah, we've used multiple way to extract stubborn ones here in the past as well. Sometimes you just get lucky though!
Great video. I'm planning on putting one of these on my 52. Do I need any other parts? New steering arms??
Any time you are tinkering with a system on your truck, you should always inspect the associated items at the same time.
Can you confirm the installation position of that shim? Pretty sure if you install it with the fat side toward the front of the truck, that would give you negative caster, which would be for non power steering trucks right?
Both ways will give you negative caster, but power steering trucks use more caster than non-power steering trucks. The reason for that is the extra caster in the front end causes extra "work" to steer the truck, which is easily overcome by the power steering. Non-power steering uses less caster to make it easier to steer, albeit slightly less stable and likely to self straighten, than it would be with more caster.
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV pretty sure installing those shims fat side forward gives you more negative caster, and if you were to spin them 180, fat side toward the back of the truck, you’d get more positive caster. This would be the opposite of what your video states with regard to what a power steering vehicle, as opposed to a non power steering vehicle needs.
@@rickpazmino5820 Gotcha, we'll check into it. It's also possible the Drop Axle MFG called for it this way. The vid was shot a long time ago, so we can't remember off the top of our heads. Thanks for the reply!
So you can run this axle with the original components like tie rod spindles drag link etc if so I'll order one today
This axle looks like the 4"drop version.
hello, I am writing from Italy, where can I buy this piece to replace the giele and lower my truck? thank you

Really. A claw hammer and an air chisel bit. Not much for using the proper tools and using them the correct way. Beating the claw hammer on the side??? Maybe you should invest in the proper tools first.
It’s a tool. Stop crying. Job got done.
Great video. Have you guys done a drop spindle video on a 67-73 c10? I'm interested in a 3"spindle. Thanks for the great videos.
Ahmad
We have a video for that. Its a coil spring/drop spindle installation. The process is the same for 1963-1987. To our knowledge there is no 3" spindle available, 2.25" is the lowest.
Thanks for the video.
@@Wrenchen-with-Darren thanks for watching!
CAN I DO BOTH 3" Drop Front Axle & LOWERED FRONT LEAF SPRING OR IS THAT TO MUCH ...OR JUST DO OR THE OTHER..WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND...
You can do both. It just depends on what you are going for. We suggest the drop axle first and then go from there
*bronze, not brass bushings
*axle nut, not bolt
Wow what a difference
But...Lol...did he get a shirt patch made that says, "you tube certified" to look like the a.s.e. patch? Why haha
Just being funny! Good eye!
Do you know if this kit will fit a 54 Chevy Belair station wagon thank you for the videos you are awesome
No sir, it will not. Contact Performance Online and see if they have one for your application. Thanks for watching!
Is there a drop spindle option for a1957. I’m wanting to do the spindles and springs on my truck if there is an option
No drop spindle option, but you could go with a drop axle.
Wolfman jack is a mechanic?
Thanks for the video. I have a 38 Chevy sedan 4 door with leaf springs up front. I lowered the rear three inches with blocks but want to lower the front three inches. Where can I find a dropped axel for my 38 Chevrolet sedan 4 door? Are their kits to add gas shocks to my 38? Thanks
We're not sure where to go for the parts for the '38. We only carry GM Truck parts from 1947-1987
I know the 32 chevy guy's bolt this 54 axle in to get juice brakes.
This instructor is Too Damned COOL !!! And with This information , Me and My buddies are gonna be ' Cool ' One More Time !!!! Thank you , John
Would love to drop my 1947 Chevy Loadmaster 2 ton. 🤔😊
So difficult on those big trucks. Good luck with your project!

@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV call tomorrow. Ty
how about doing a 1968 chevy G10 van drop axle / drop spindle. ?
It's suitable for 1949 chevy truck 3600 3/4 t ? Tks
No sir, it only works on the 1/2 ton.
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV for what reason?
@@luigimarzaro8915 the 3600 uses different spindles and other various components. You could use this if you are ready to convert the entire front end to 1/2 parts.
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV I can front lower with the leaf spring ?
Why put a + caster on manual steering but a - caster on power steering?
It has to do with the "ease" of steering. + caster will actually be easier to turn the wheel due to how the weight of the front end falls on the tires. - caster is exactly the opposite and makes it slightly more difficult to turn but adds stability and helps the steering re-center itself after your make a turn.
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV My 55 chevy 3100 w/ straight axle & ps will pull one way or the other when I go through a dip in the road. All front end parts are tight with 4 degree shims to get positive caster. You say to go with negative caster. So is this article wrong? "Positive caster is when the steering axis is in front of the verticle. In a road car, this would mean that the top of the coilover would be pushed towards the rear of the car. Positive caster creates a lot of align torque (the force that straightens the steering wheel when you go forward) which improves straight line stability of the car. Due to the geometry of positive caster it also will increase negative camber gain (a good thing) when turning. As you increase positive caster the steering will get heavier also, but with modern power steering systems this is rarely a problem. Generally you want as much positive caster as you can reasonably get so long as the car is equipped with power steering". I'm at my wits end trying to figure how to get my steering safe. Thank you for any help you can give me.
@@cecilbarnes7854 We assume this article is not discussing a straight axle type front suspension. What you have described is called "bump steer", we suggest you try some Negative camber.
Is that lowered with just drop axle ? Or with dearced springs also
This drop axle will get you down exactly 3" from where you are whether you have stock springs or de-arced springs, so you can count on that. To answer your question, we can't remember if this truck had drop springs on it or not.
Ok, just looked back at our video when we installed the de-arced springs and the axle was not on it at the time. So, we have to assume when we installed the axle it already had the drop springs.
Neat been waiting on u guys to do a video on lowering springs thinking about during that on 60-66 model year Gm truck is the process same as early 50s Gmc your working on
Does your truck have front leafs or coils Malik?
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV ;Currently factory shocks & it's 60or61 Chevy stepside.
@@malikdigger4544 so your truck has torsion bars. Very different to lower than this example or the later coil spring trucks. Call our shop and lets talk about options.

Great video
WILL THAT FIT MY 55.5 CHEVY 3800 1 TON DUALLY 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Sorry, we don't have any springs for the 3800.
