Excellent vid, well done with the success of that activity. I own a mini 3 some am always interested with activities to do with it. Release mech via elevator is a great innovation. I once launched my hang glider from a balloon at about 4,000 ft above ground. The release mech was the balloon pilot cutting the tether! Worked just fine.
Great video 😀. My IceFire 1.5m DLG has AUW of 8.5 oz, so makes sense that my DJI Mini2 could lift it. I'll have to try this. I noticed a that you only took your DLG up to about 330 ft before releasing. Have you ever considered going higher? When you did your DLG hand-catch, the wingspan looks smaller than 1.5m. What is the wingspan? Also was this a dead-calm day? Or did you experience some thermals or wind? It would be cool to see you post a video showing a close-up of the tow-hook and release servo linkage. Really brilliant design for aerotow 😀 Excellent video 😀
Hi, thank you. The DLG glider in this video: tomahawk-aviation.com/eu/gliders/other-gliders-1284-slingshot-dlg-1-0m-pnp-rh.html I also have a 1.5m version, still in the box 😁 Yes, I could go as high as I want but I made this flight for the video - so, I could go higher and fly much longer with the glider but the video would be too long ... I have already disassembled the tow-hook-release system but I might assemble it again to show it how it works ... it's a crazy simple design 😄
very suprised a mini2 can lift such weights... normal when you add weight they detect it and refuse to go further than 30m far... but nice experiment...
Thanks. The detaching mechanism is mounted on the DLG glider - when the left aileron deflects downward it pulls the connected pin out of the hole and the hook at the end of the rope gets released. You can see that in the beginning of the video.
I’ve been contemplating trying this ever since I built a 40g micro Bird of Time glider. Very pleased to see it working. 👍

You are very talented Andrej i think i am going to get into gliders my friend owns a ranch that has rollling hills perfect for gliders good job
Thank you Don 😊
Gliders are awesome 👍 you won't regret it!
Very cool 😎
Thanks man 😃
Probably need a close up of that release mechanism. Great idea though
Great video😀liked & subscribed, thanks for sharing✌
Thanks and welcome

Nice video! but there is no risk that the line will tangle on the propellers once the weight of the plane has been removed?
Yes, you are right. That is a risk with such a setup.
@@AndrejSturm you could consider a little weight at the end of the rope to keep it stretched. Like a fishing sinker
@@fabioveronesi9679 That could be a good solution, I agree.
Bel video complimenti like e mi iscrivo volentieri

Hi nice video. How cut the rope system works?

Very unhappy sounding DJI 😂
