    Hi, Mr Tie Dye. Long time lurker, first time commenter (I think?).
    I have somewhat of a question or request... there's a game called Elden Ring, you may or may not have heard of it. In the game, many of the larger bosses in the game have what is called a boss fog you must "Traverse through" in order to defeat it. I feel like this boss fog could be replicated on a light, cotton curtain. Gold, yellow, greys, dark greens, black... were you to create such a piece, I imagine you'd be able to not only sell a LOT of them, but were you to do a video of it, it would garner plenty of views & in turn more people tie dying. Just an idea!
    You're a huge inspiration for people in the tie dye community, as you know. Thank you for what you do!

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  Год назад

      I have not heard of the game... I did a search for the boss fog and could not find anything definite ... but I will keep looking and if I find something, I will make it if I can and do a video ✌🏻 ... if you have an image, maybe tag me on FB or IG so I can see what you mean ✌🏻

    Love how it turned out. Have you ever done one using 50/50 bleach/water solution?? In your opinion which is better?

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  Год назад

      Thank you and yes I have tried bleach, but I do not remove enough color for me .... I prefer OWB myself, but that does not make it better, just my preference ... I like how fast it works with boiling water, I like that is removes more color and I like that I do not have to neutralize it like I do with Bleach
      here is my full Discharge Playlist and I do have three videos where I use Bleach and I demo how I neutralize the Bleach in each of them : ruclips.net/p/PLMEtBqB2BzuqUum7wx4njWkcy_HI10P-o .... the 3 Bleach videos are down the list a bit ... a Mushroom, Smiley Face and a Heart

    Hi! I was wondering if you can reuse the solution of the OWB on other tees? I usually dye 10 or more discharged tees at a time. Thank you!

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  Год назад +1

      I have put more than one tee in the basin at a time, but I have not saved the solution and tried to use it as most of my color removal with OWB comes from the pouring of the boiling water .... BUT, you can try reusing the solution by putting it in a pan and heating it with some more tees and seeing it fstat works, I just have not tried it myself yet ✌🏻

      thank you and you are welcome... as for the heart, here is a video on how I fold it : ruclips.net/video/8uC6PlAcTSg/видео.html ..... part of the trick to getting a good heart is drawing a good half a heart, I found if you fold a piece of paper in half and then draw the heart, cut it out and open, this way you know the half heart is good, then I make a stencil so I can re draw it well every time .... here is how I dye the heart : ruclips.net/video/vGmrMZXpQF0/видео.html ..... in the early days of my channel, I was only allowed to upload short videos, so I did them in two parts 😉✌🏻

    I’m having issues with when dying purples and rinsing it’ll sort turn the white a soft purple. How can I avoid that?

    • @kattikakes
      @kattikakes 2 года назад +1

      I personally use something called “color catcher” sheets for the first couple of times I wash my tie dye. You can find them in most walmart type stores by the laundry soap. They basically look like dryer sheets but you add them to your washer and they “catch” the excess dye floating in the water. If Purple seems to give you problems add 2 sheets in your load. They go in white and come out dark from all the dye. Good luck.

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  2 года назад +2

      a longer batch time can helps .... after I batch for 48 hours with heat, most of the dyes are exhausted, which cuts down on the back staining in the washer ....
      BUT, anohter thing that helps is I start with a cold rinse in the sink to wash away the soda ash and then I use Synthrapol Soap with my washes, more in the first load since it has more un bonded dyes to deal with...
      it helps by keeping the un bonded dyes suspended n the water so there is less chance of back staining.... some dyers use blue dawn dish soap as it to is pH neutral

  • @cathygreathouse2469
    @cathygreathouse2469 Год назад +1

    Question do you soak the whole shirt in soda ash water after the out white or just sprinkle the soda ash on ? Thank you

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  Год назад +1

      it can be done either way... After doing a really good rinse in the sink, I spin out the discharge in my washer... then I rinse some more and do one more spin out... then I either soak in soda ash, spin out again and then dye it ....
      OR, I will do the rinse/spin thing and then I dye it and then squirt liquid sod ash on with a dye bottle, just like I am giving it a light coat of dye... let it soak in, then I flip and squirt the other side... then in either case, I set it in a tub with a lid to batch for 48 hours
      here is a video where I demo the soda ash thing : ruclips.net/video/rkmAQxOu52A/видео.html
      the only difference I notice is sometimes when I add the soda ash at the end, the dye will spread some and blend more, but I am okay with that...

    Can we use bleach liquid or bleach powder instead of the whiteout powder?

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  11 месяцев назад +1

      yes you can use whatever works best for you, just make sure when using Bleach to neutralize it when you get the color you want, otherwise you could end up with holes... just plain washing is not enough to stop the bleach action ... here is one of my bleach videos where I demo using bleach and then neutralizing it afterwards (one change, I now skip the rinse and just put my bleached tee right into the stop solution) : ruclips.net/video/PYvfnkV1XSI/видео.html

      as for the OWB ... as far as I know, it does no damage to the fabric at all... it just releases the color .... so I like OWB much better than bleach as there is no need to neutralize, I just rinse it very well with some soaking and I also do a spin out in my washer, then more soaking, then one more spin out so it is barely damp, then it is ready for sod ash and some dyes ✌🏻

    Do you leave it tied up when you spin it out?

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  11 месяцев назад

      yes if I am going to add dye to it while still tied, I leave it tied up while I carefully rinse and spin it out... the spinning helps to quickly get more of the chemical out from doing the discharge, then I can soak again for a bit, then spin out one more time... then soak and dye... OR, what I have been doing more of these days... I dye it and then I add soda ash over the top of the tee or tapestry
      here is a video that shows various times to add the soda ash to a tee :ruclips.net/video/rkmAQxOu52A/видео.html
