I've worked this as the Charlotte stitch here in the US. Love this video. This is a speed and gauge developing stitch. She kept a simple pattern simple. I recommend her videos often.
I love this pattern as my memory is getting worse. I am using it to make my granddaughter a 54×60 cuddle blanket for her sofa. She is excited to get it. I made it in Caron Simply Soft yarn as she has moved to Tampa, Florida to start her job as a RN. So proud of her accomplishments!! Thank you so much dear sweet lady!💖 You are such a good teacher!!
I have to say you are one of the best instructors I've found on RUclips. I'm completely new to crochet and I'm determined to make blankets for my family for Xmas. Your videos are on replay until I understand the stitches!
Thank you so much for showing me how to crochet this beautiful fluffy blanket. I've just finished one in white & baby blue using Flutterbychunky yarn, for my expectant daughter who loved it! and now I'm just starting another one in all white for her friend :-)
I just found the baby blanket stitch I’ve been looking for.. I have a great grandson that I need to make a blanket for.. I’m glad I chose your tutorial to click on.. tyfs!
I made this blanket and it’s gorgeous. I combined white with two red stripes on both sides. It’s so nice that sometimes the dad steals it from the baby 😄 By the way, it was my first time crocheting, so after that I became confident in my abilities which has allowed me to take on to other projects. Thank you so much!!!
I used a 5.5 hook, which is the same one I’m using to make a blanket for the dad for Christmas 🎄. This one is a lot bigger since I started with 170 chains. I’d say it’s a Queen bed size. I’m having a lot of fun making it.
I personally am VERY new to crocheting and I’m not going to lie, I was quite nervous starting out, thinking that I was NEVER going to EVER, be able to catch on quickly! But This video is super simple, even if you’re just starting out!! I was able to follow through and catch on really quick to my surprise!! Plus the blanket turned out BEAUTIFUL, I couldn’t be happier with the end result!! Plus My kids also absolutely LOVED their new blankets which is a total bonus for picky little children haha!! Thank You So Much For This Video And Also All Of Your Time Teaching All Of Us♥️
I know I sound repetitive, but I can't state enough how your videos are the best one out there! I wanted to learn crochet to make things for my goddaughter who'll be born by the end of the year. I was such a noob in crochet and now I make some pretty decent things, hahaha! So grateful for your videos!
I couldn't agree more! I love her videos! I've seen a lot of crochet videos and the way she explains things, doesn't constantly repeat everything, and seems to have a decent speed (not too fast or too slow) is perfect!!
I absolutely LOVE this pattern. It crocheted up beautifully. I’m going to have to add this to my list of To Do’s. So simple but looks so beautiful. Tfs sweetie. Have a good day.🤗
Thank you so much for showing how to do these stitches and patterns. I can read patterns but I learn so much better by watching. Thanks for taking the time to record these videos!! 💖💖💖
Again I am so happy that I found your tutorials. Just in the last week I learned 2 new stitches and I am so excited to learn more. The Seed stitch is the other one I have learned from you. Thank you so very much
I’m making a toddler blanket in this stitch right now using Bernat Baby Blanket. It is so soft and squishy...and thick!!! My husband surprised me by saying “I love that! I want one for myself” when I showed him my work! Oh boy, that’s gonna be a lot of marshmallows! 😂
Hello dear I really appreciate you sharing the cloud video can't wait to make a baby blanket for our new arrival in January... please can you show how it looks when finished... thank you
Thank you so much for the pattern! I enjoyed watching but I'm the type who needs written instructions, so I attempted to transcribe what you did into a written pattern. Hopefully I didn't do it too amateurish! Keep in mind I used the US version of what a crochet stitch is because that's what I'm used to. R.1 : Slip knot, ch (any #, just has to be a multiple of 2), then ch 3 at the end R2: Work into 3rd ch from hook, 1 dc, ((skip 2, 1 sc, 2 dc in next stitch )) repeat until 1 ch left in row, put 1 sc into last chain. R3: Chain 2, dc into base you just chained from, ((skip 2 stitches, then 1 sc 2 dc into next stitch, )) repeat until end of row. TO Turn: Skip two and work 1sc into last stitch of row, then switch colours. (If desired) To end first row that's done with the new colour, you sc into the second ch that was done for the turn on the previous round when turning. Rinse and repeat R3 (and turn) until blanket is of desired length. TO END: do as you normally would with ending the row but presumably slip stitch into the second ch instead, then tie off. Hope this helps people!
@@debbielyon3676 Hi! I wrote that comment 5 years ago so I was surprised to see a reply after so long. Having the pattern all written out is so that I can refer to it all at once, without having to re-watch the video each time with captions on. (Also the closed captions are auto-generated by a robot, and are not usually accurate to what is actually being said in the video) Hope this helps! It is a really cute pattern, I made it as a baby shower gift and it turned out really nice.
This stich is amazing, I'm from the states and I had to adjust my stitches, but you made it so so easy. I can't wait to see how it turns out when I use the fluffy yarn. Thank you so much.💗💗💗
I have just found your site. You have encouraged me to start crocheting. I did it when I was a little girl but can’t remember much. I’m looking forward to starting the easy baby blanket.
Thank you for all these lovely tutorials! I hate reading patterns, although I can. I can't wait to try some of these new things I am learning from you!
I crochet for charity to raise money for orphans in other parts of the world. I am always looking for yarn on sale. recently I got a huge garbage bag full of yarn for a very good price from a women who no longer can crochet, she was selling her stash. I got seven skeins of Red Heart Baby Clouds that is discontinued. I ve never crochet bulky yarn or fluffy yarn. I was looking for a suitable pattern then I found this vid. I am now half way through and it really looks nice and fluffy thank you for all your vids and I love the way you teach have a wonderful day
Thankyou for your lovely tutorials.. I love this blanket and would like to try using Carron Baby Cakes .. Is the stitch same on both sides.. Also what size hook are you using please ? Thankyou again 💖
This tutorial is one of the best I've seen on RUclips. I have 2 questions: 1. How many chains do you make for a standard baby blanket using this pattern? 2. How many balls of silver and white yarn did you buy? Thanks again, I look forward to making this project!
For this grey and white I was using a chunky yarn and 6mm hook but you can use absolutely any yarn you like and then the recommended hook size for that yarn 🌸
Nice tutorial. Thank you for sharing. Please consider giving the written pattern as well. some of your viewers are advanced as well as beginners and like to have the written pattern to jump to without having to wait through the whole pattern.
I've just found your channel and you are my go to with crocheting thank you it's a skill I really wanted to master, and with your help I think I have achieved this.... my question is how much yarn do you need for this baby blanket, is there a simple calculation?
i have a question. I need to make about 7 hats for christmas. I thought for a soft yarn, instead of using RH super saver or carons lb yarn, I would try the Lions pound of love yarn. My question is, is that pound of love yarn a lot softer and good to use for hats? I have never used it and my hats usually come stiff with the other economy yarns
Beautiful stitch and so easy. Can you recommend a border please ? Crocheting in cream for a friends baby but would like to add a colour border when she / he is born
Did you figure out a border? I just finished a blanket and don't know how to add a border. Any help would be appreciated, as the person who did the video did not answer my question.
Hi I’m having a go at doing this blanket for a friend who’s expecting a baby and I was wondering what border you would recommend to go with it. Oh and just wanted to say thank you for all of your brilliant tutorials 💗
Hi Sarah! I have used a variety of different borders with this pattern - Moss Stitch, Simple Frills and the Cluster Waves - all of these are available on my channel :)
Your videos are by far the easiest down to the point tutorials I've seen. Woop woop! But I do have a question when you switched the color and ended the row on the second stitch rather than the 3rd as the ones prior is it like that for the rest of the blanket?
My ends are not ending up with the same number of stitches that you’re saying should be there, despite me doing EXACTLY what you say. I’ve restarted the whole thing a few times to try again. I’m trying to make it up as I go along, and I have no idea if I’m messing it up or not. Pretty frustrating.

This is probably my favorite stitch currently. I learned it as the “blanket stitch” though. Using it to make an infinity scarf with bulky yarn.

Yes this stitch is totally reversible! 🥰 I used a 6mm for my yarn - but I would just recommend using whatever hook size your chosen yarn recommends 🌸

2. How many balls of silver and white yarn did you buy?

How much wool do you need?
Really pretty! Love the colors!
Rebekah, what would you suggest for a border if you made a blanket in this stitch? Thanks!
I can’t wait to make the blanket I think I’m going to use the vera gated yarn so I don’t have to switch colors
Did I miss something? What size yarn and hook did you use?
For this grey and white I was using a chunky yarn and 6mm hook but you can use absolutely any yarn you like and then the recommended hook size for that yarn 🌸
