wow. I can barely skate going forward! I don't even want to THINK about trying to skate backwards or even letting go of the wall when I try to skate! These guys are beautiful-really makes me jealous of how graceful ice skaters are..

I am also a roller skating judge and I have noticed a fair amount of ice dancers seem to step ahead after a swing or 3 turn.

ChristianSylvia This a test and for people who don’t compete in dance, the dance itself is not necessarily good. This is not what competitive dance looks like, this is what tests look like. If you want to see real dances, you should look up competitions.

Sophia Hsu at this level there should be no wide-stepping even on a test!

The three turns were fine, the dance was good.

I am a roller skating judge and have a question: Why do ice dancers step wide after 3-turns? This team would lose a lot of points as roller dancers for that reason. It is unsightly to plop the free foot down after turns, instead of doing a full stroke or at least bringing the free foot parallel with the empolyed foot.

Welcome to the world of ice dance

I disagree with @The Beanie Boo... this isn’t a good example of the world of ice dance. This is a test, and not a competition. This would never place very well in a real competition. The standards of competitive dance are leaps and bounds higher than test standard

The 3-turns were not good. They were sloppy. Ice dancers out skate roller dancers when it comes to free dance - but they fall short on compulsories when it comes to footwork, even the top teams. They also skate forward with their bottoms out to gain speed, instead of skating erect. And check out the double leans: the man stepping foward into the runs and cross rolls on the Paso and the lady on the cross rolls in the Paso are examples.

Dennis Michael this is not the best example of starlight waltz. This is a test and for skating, most tests are half decent or mediocre. If you want to see better waltz’s, then you should look at ones at dance competitions instead. There are very different standards to competitions versus tests.

If that was a test, I hope they did nt pass, very sloppy.
