you did such a fantastic job that you have inspired me to try by myself. I will do it on a slightly bigger lathe and for now with one only motor. @@MaximKachurovskiy You are right, but it could be an idea. For example you pick the company of your lathe. Mate! Great work and next on my wish list from Australia. Would be good to add on your website what’s included/what we also need to get in the way of an encoder that works best for you. I can make and adapt from what you provided, as I intend to add a joystick as well, but you may increase your customer base for those that aren’t quite capable of extrapolating and making things work. I was going to make something like this for myself but for the price you’re offering, I think would be far more cost-effective grabbing one of yours.
Thanks! You're right, there's a lot to be done in terms of documentation - we'll get there :) A joystick will fit nicely in the 2 remaining terminals. It's supposed to be cost-effective for everyone to have some people to specialize :) Nice Shopify store you got there!

Maxim - i just have to know( i have your old els for one axis) have you changed to ball screw for the carrigde? acme-threads have a bir of "slop" in it so ballscrews woud be better
Hi Maxim, watching your channel for some time. I like your projects very much. Now waiting for my RC210E-600 lathe coming from China. There is no HW available at your site. Old one sold out and H4 not present. I would like to upgrade from the single axis to your H4 controller, but will I have to do all the HW stuff myself? Another question: The chinese controller has combined display for the RPMs and leadscrew parameters. How shall I combine it with H4? Keep the Chinese controller for RPMs and tap the signal from encoder to H4 while keeping the signal from encoder to the chinese controller, so that it gets what it needs to display the RPMs. Thank you in advance for help.
Hi @tutinek69! Thank you. I'm only shipping to 8 countries so sadly looks like I won't be able to sell one to you yet. On hardware, I'm selling just the controller - you might be able to reuse rotary encoder from your lathe and the stepper motor. Not sure if you'd be able to reuse the stepper driver - sometimes they are integrated into the main board and can't be controlled externally. H4 has the RPM display but I agree it's nice to have it on that top display. Perhaps you'd manage to connect one encoder to both controllers? That'd be a bit risky of course, some kind of electrical failure could take out all of them. At least make sure that encoder operates at 5V. Cheers!
@@MaximKachurovskiy Thank you Maxim. I will need some tinkering with the new lathe. This will take some time anyway. Then I hope there will be some way to get the controller.
nice work , but seems like the tool does not back enough from the thread and it remove some material as it back to start point , for sure it just a parameter and you simply can change the value in your code and improve it , you should build cnc for next project 😇
Yes, nice catch, it's a matter of operation setup - so called DOWN limit - I set it exactly at the part which caused the cutting on return. A solution is to just set it e.g. 1mm away from the part. CNCs for the win :)
@@MaximKachurovskiy The process starts when you turn the potentiometer (resistor). You set your engine RPM every time. Do you think set RPM from your board and start from your board?
@@SharafV it's actually nice to keep those things independent since you can speed up or down or pause the cut any time with a big familiar potentiometer. It makes sense to stop the motor on command from the controller when the operation is done though, will think about it 👍

Very cool project! If the controller also adjusts the motor speed, you could have the same cuttingspeed at different diameters.
Thanks! There are 6 unused GPIO pins (2x4 terminals) on the back, since it's open-source you can make one of them control the motor e.g. via PWM 👍
Congrats, very nice job, I know the amount of work it represents.

Waste time. After N iteration you switch to grblHAL with UART pendant.
Here no CAD software is needed, cutting in seconds. But I plan to support GRBL over USB serial so it'd be both :)
