  • This will help prevent people stealing your smart key remote signal. Save your battery life on your key fobs and I wish i knew about this sooner. Every Toyota owner who has the same key fob should do this. Leave a comment if you need any help. this may not work on all toyota vehicles.

Mind blown! Both my 4Runner keys deactivated and tested my doors. Secured! My neighbours Ford Raptor was stolen out of a grocery store parking lots while they were shopping. Theives had cloned their key and followed them. Security footage showed nothing suspicious - guy just walks up to the truck in plain day, hops in and takes off. Everyone should know this tip and must be an option for all manufacturers.

That's mean the thieves reprogram the key while he walked by them with clones key. Or he was being followed by thieves (cars) when he was driving to shopping. You know like when you stop by the light,he can get signal from your key to my clone key when he was behind you and it activated before the light traffic turn green and they wait until you at the shop. (I just wish car better add face ID or password before start the car😒)

After watching this video I "turned off" both key fobs---left them in the kitchen and went out to my vehicle. I put my hand on the handle and the horn beeped and the door opened. Ok, but… Once your key fob is deactivated, you need to hit the unlock button to unlocked your truck. Am I right? If so, once you hit the unlock button on the key fob, doesn’t that reactivate your key fob? If so, it’s an impractical solution, IMHO…

Well.... that's like most alarms. If anyone wanted to rob you. Nothings going to stop them. Almost everything is impractical if you really think about it.

So every time you unlock the car you have to deactivate the key fob again ?

Unfortunately yes. But its just a few clicks. Doesn't bother me to much.

I prefer doing this. Just a few clicks and your good. But some ppl prefer the RFID bag. To me its just an hassle, but both option are good.

@@sin4459 Of course, but now with these constantly transmitting Fobs carjacking isn't even necessary since if you forget to deactivate the Fob when parked, yet AGAIN, just once, your car can be stolen as if you left the keys right in it: Fantastic feature!
