here's my tldw about uji: 1. the "honten" or main shop teahouses are further from the tourist areas and thus less crowded 2. if you want to go into the byodoin phoenix hall, be prepared to queue and wait for the periodic tours 3. there honestly isn't super much to do and half a day will probably suffice! about nara: 1. i think 2 days is just about right 2. mount wakakusa is actually quite physically demanding, don't hesitate takings breaks halfway up the steps! 3. the todai-ji is arguably the main attraction here, so be prepared for it to be flooded with tourists if you're not coming right at opening time 4. obviously, don't mess with the deer, and don't litter! they will eat all your trash like paper cups, wrappers, etc. !
