Good video thanks for making the time to do them. I lost my dog at the beginning of the year and watching these reminded me how much I miss him, he used to do the same lie down in the garage and keep me company.
Hello NZ thanks for the message sorry to hear about your dog. My jess likes to lay on my tummy when I am under a car (trying) to fix it LOL. cheers Nigel
Hello Glen thanks for the message I like to pass on what I learn if it helps others :) Our dog Jess is great she loves to watch what I am doing and be with me in my shed :) Cheers Nigel
Lovely dog. Interesting to see his (?) behaviour speeded up. You probably know this but just in case, anti-freeze is highly poisonous and dogs seem to like it - got to be really careful with any spillages. Thanks for the vid, hats off to you.
Hello!! I'm about to build a LR v8 3.9 engine!! And I have a question!! The brand of the pistons on the left side point forward and those on the right side point backward? (LR V8 3.9) thanks
I'm not try to tell my granny how to suck eggs, but, why take the camshaft out before the crank shaft? If you take the crank out first, you have a lot of room to control the removal of the cam, without damage to the bearings. I've been building engines for 60 years, and always take out the crank first, and on reassembly, install the cam before the crank.
Hello Mike th for the comment, my I am always talking to myself and jess looks at me as if I am bonkers. When I get mad at something she comes and licks me to calm me down :) cheers Nigel
@@fixitnige is there a roller cam and lifters in newer version of this engine?? My experience most V-8's with roller cam and lifters last much longer here in the USA starting in mid 80's most our V-8's had to cause the Japan was making toyo that ran hundreds of thousands of miles , when American v-8's after 100000.0miles cam had no humps left and whacked so loud U knew the engine was trashed even with the best service!!
@@scottyjones27 Hello Scotty this is a 1999 version it did have fuel injection I have not looked at the newer engines but this one and all before I am sure are hydraulic lifters but you can get adjustable push rods but they are just to much money.Cheers Nigel
@@scottyjones27 This motor used to be the Buick 215 from the early 60s here in God Blessed USA. In the late 60s they gave up on aluminum engines and sold the rights to Rover group. To sumarize: First Rover copied the US military Jeep. Later, they bought the rights to a the Buick motor. Later still they Copied the Ford Bronco suspension for the RR and ultimately their own Range Rover into the Glorious Exalted Defender (*). Now it seems they're completely hooked on copying, but have lost their wonderful English taste for a better product, and copy crap (new Defender).
Must biggest problem with this engines is quality of spare parts, very simple engine, but often spare parts quality like a shit equal all your work to zero :(

I bet your dog is called Rover
lol good idea but no she's called Jess.
Your dog wasn't very helpful was she? Barely lifted a paw.
Hi Richard she keeps a very keen eye and would soon soon let me know if I did something wrong :).
Dirty engine change filters and oil more often.

Not a damn Jeep
hello josh what do you mean ?
G0SQI its a Land Rover not a Jeep
🙈
I think your getting confused josh the V8 is in my Jeep
The Land Rover I worked on had a 2.5 diesel engine.
G0SQI what type of vehicle did the Rover V8 in the video come from?
