Hi everyone, this is a part video of a rebuild and cylinder head change on a Rover V8 Rally engine for Hamilton Classics.
Sorry there’s some missing stages but we had go pro issues and lost a lot of footage.
Hope yo8 enjoy.
James.
Love your dedication and patience top man
Thank you very much.
Thanks James, went above and beyond with this one, I know it nearly broke you, hope the performance lives up to expectations. Fantastic engineering skills again, despite my pestering it was not allowed to leave until James was happy with it. Managed to get it running today and sounds sweet. Thanks mate.
Your welcome mate
I'm a rally driving instructor , more than welcome to my one of basic, intermediate rally driving courses.
Great to be able to overcome all the engineering obstacles James, great effort, it’s not always plain sailing but its the end result that counts, great video 👍👍👍
Thanks Paul, it was on the rollers yesterday and didn't make the numbers we was hoping for.. I did think the heads may be too big.. we are going to up the compression to try and make them work better.
hi again great work on the v8
Hi John thanks.. just hope it performs for my customer.. excited to see it rally
Awesome work mate, taken some patience’s that one!
Thanks Lee.. yeah it did
Good work james on to the next v8 😊
Thanks Lee.. yep that's next just finishing the focus rs monday
@@graceenginedevelopments thanks mate keep up the great work
Will do
Glad you are getting work from viewers. I think it's brilliant a car owner who needs a rebuild engine see's what you look for when stripping and prepping a new build, how deep you go when prepping the build for longevity of the engine, yes you spot problems on the bench and advise the customer, saves a return or a catastrophic failure miles in to the engine being run. Hope the bacon and egg roll's keep the team strong.
Thanks George, yes we give honest advice and try to build perfect engines for customers requirements.. the bacon and egg rolls are amazing
Love the build’s you do, skill and knowledge is king 👑
Thanks Phil.
Great work ❤
Thanks mate

Thanks Mike
Very informative video, thank you!
Your welcome.. thanks for watching
great vid great build you overcame some difficult probs well done cant wait for vid after fitting
Thanks kev.. I'll get the customer to send me a video of it on a rally
Top job ,difficult one to charge out, love your attention to detail
Thanks Philip. It was difficult.. lost loads really with the hours spent. But the owner is a friend and I want him to be pleased with it
Top quality work once again James ,spigot hydrolic grease trick might work on dowls if i d is smaller than the inside hole you know what I mean ,the piston gauge just give it a good clean stick a clock in it and hang it on the wall
Thanks Gary. Yeah I know what you mean.. thanks for the feedback on the hepolite
Good show
Thanks Raymond
SKILL
Thank you
Nice build!
Thanks Bob
Good work mate sorry to go on but did you ever find the minimum thickness for a Cos cast XE head?
Thanks Andy. Sorry I forgot message me in the week and I'll do it for you
Im using ta 2150 Performance heads on my v8 build, using the generation 2 heads they look great inside with no visible steps, my heads came with a build sheet and specify everything on the build of heads with diameter/clearance/shims/lift/valve heights etc etc, they have also fitted yella terra shaft mounted rollers yt6761 which are designed for these heads, info on sheet it specifies that no pushrods guides plates to be used with any single or twin shaft rocker system in bold letters, chamber volume size are 37.8cc for future reference if you ever see these heads again, power output with these heads you should be pushing towards over 400bhp so I'm a little confused on a figure of under 300bhp,on a previous build with identical heads they produced 429 bhp, i got over 300bhp on rover stage 3 heads, these TA Heads have 1.94 intake and 1.60 exhaust
Thanks for the info.. we are planning a full strip down and investigation in the winter months
Hi Mr Grace and Bish, i redid my engine/TA heads, and was the one to have Yella Terra make a set of R/R for these heads. I initially purchased engine in car and ut had guideplates and chev ss r/r.
5lt rv8 on pump fuel, 10.5 comp and 530hp plus now.
Get it all right and you will see the potential. Jenveys je and crossiver too.
In an mg rv8
That's mega power .
600 plus with 260 duratiion.
245@50 now.
@stuartstevens472 that's awesome..
Really interesting Chanel' enjoyed it a lot if possible could you please mention a roufh price of your work we live abroad and it will be nice to reflect the prices of here thank you
Thank you George, yes I can, on what job?
Full engine parts list?
What do you want to know.. make etc
Do you have link's for, cam, rods, pistons and are the heads the Marlins, cheers michael
I will shortly be looking to buy a TVR either a Griffith or a Chimera. Which is the best engine to go for. I was guessing the 500 although also the most expensive. So is there any of the other engine sizes that can produce the power of the 500.
Regards.
Steve.
Hi Stevie, I'm not too sure on all the tvr model specs to be honest, but I'll look into it at the weekend
The 4 liter will keep you wanting for more after a while, the 450 is a good one and the most reliable due to cross bolting. The 500 is a torque monster and very fun. A Griffith 500 is always going to hold it's value well!
Great info.. thanks for sharing
I ended up with the 450. Rebuilt @ 52000 miles. Now done 70000 so should be ok. Sounds silent , no ticks but a crappy idle. Changed the stepper for a genuine 1 & seems much better.

@@Steviegtr52 great! fun times ahead! What colour?
Hiya bud another good video did you source the inlet manifold or did the customer supply it and do you know where to get them from by any chance?
Hi Alex, thank you, I will find out where it came from for you.
@@graceenginedevelopments thanks pal
Alistair got the inlet so I will call him and ask, I think it came from John eales
Has that block been cross bolted??
Yes Mike
That's interesting, it doesn't look like the iceberg block so it must be a custom job, four bolt mains or suchlike?@@graceenginedevelopments
The bosses are there we just machined it and tapped the main caps
hi,i enjoyed your video, was you on wheeler dealers?i,m good with faces not namescheers
Hi Graham, thanks for watching, yes I did a triumph tr6 cylinder head years ago for wheeler dealers
What heads are these please?
There TA heads
Has it got more head studs than normal??
I think all Porsche engines have the same amount of studs... Not 100%
What was the power from that v8 after?
Hi Richard I think it made 290 but I will ask the owner and confirm
I've subscribed, although tbh I thought I had a while back. oops.
Awesome thank you
Nice build!
Thank you
