I was just at D.R. Harris in St. James London a few weeks ago and got some Windsor & Arlington shave sticks and aftershave. Quality products and a beautiful shopping experience for us wet shavers. That entire block of stores is a wet shaving dream! I had so much fun. Didn’t know R.E. stocked D.R. Harris that’s great to know!
I've been shaving for over 50 years now, not having a father in the picture, I've had to self learn shaving. I've fallen for multi blade, disposable, electric, and garden shears. After watching a few of your vids and not being to old or stupid to learn, I'm getting the best shave I've ever had. I used your tune-up service for a antique shop find of a 70's DE super adjust (black handle) with Proaso cream-in-a-cup with a cheap-o Escali Badger brush, and the Astra Platinum with the Proaso after shave cream. Who knew??? COLD water shaving? It works. Keep the info coming Matt. Great job on the razor tune-up. Thanks for the stuff you do.
I’m an “older guy”, but fairly new to DE razors. I appreciate your videos because they expose me to a lot of different products that I had no idea even existed.
I have used DR Harris Sandalwood, Windsor, Arlington, Eucalyptus, and Marlborough creams. All are incredibly good. However, my favorite is the Marlborough.
I consider DR. H to be one of the best saving soaps around. They last, produce a great lather and shave, incl Stargate razor shaving. Well up there with Dovo Berlin Barber, Martin De Condre - Vetyver, Geo E. Trumper - Eucris, and Mitchell's woolfat soap. A good soap is a must-have and always adds to any soap. Great vintage razor, though my prospector (from you) is a genuine delight. Great vid, cheers, John
I bought the DR Harris Windsor hard puck soap in a nice wooden bowl, but I guess since I've been accustomed to so many different creams and artisan soaps, I found it underwhelming in terms of lather. That might also just be how hard puck soaps lather typically so I can't even truly fault it. The Windsor scent is phenomenal, it reminds of Terre de Hermes EDT which I really enjoy. Another great review, Matt!
I got 3 DR Harris soaps, being Arlington, Windsor and also Lavender. They are high end soaps with refined scents and great quality and each one will last you at least 7 or 8 months if you shave daily. Nice presentation Matt.
I like the DR Harris Windor EDT. Excellent stuff. They do make splash aftershaves too, but I have not tried them or the balm milk products. On the list for someday!
I have a question Matt ! own 3 razors ... Vikings blade emperor Meiji , Goodfellas shibumi and The Holy black barbers razor. do you think moving to a boker straight razor would improve my shave? it's a bunch more money but I'm not sure if I should make the leap?!?!?
The only thing I do different is I squeeze out all the leftover soap out of the brush and apply it to my face with maybe a little water while I clean up my gear. Rinse in cold water, apply post shave. I have found doing this with MdC, PannaCreama and 345 Soap Co. and A&E I don’t need a post shave product. Unless I want one. Always a Aftershave and Cologne but a thicker balm only in the Ohio winter.
DRH products are top notch. Their creams are on par with their London peers but their soaps are well above the others. Most, still have tallow and are world leaders for hard shave soaps. The aftershave splashes and milks are also great. I like there hard soaps so much, they are the basis for what I rate all others against. Some come close but only one -vintage old spice - has ever been better than DRH hard soaps.
So true. I have the hard soap version of Windsor... and also Arlington and Marlborough (coincidentally where I live) and they are first class. As are the matching colognes and after shaves.
Nice review Matt. I just did my first shave with the new Rex razor blades. What a great blade. I got a BBS comfortable smooth shave with no nicks, cuts or irritation. I did 3 passes but I could have stopped after 2 passes but was enjoying the shave so much I did a 3rd pass. I only ordered a 5 pack but will be ordering a full 100 in the near future. I highly encourage ordering a sample of 5 to try them. Have a great weekend Matt.
I picked up a DR Harris Windsor shaving stick while traveling in Belgium. I wasn’t familiar with the brand but had to try it. Beautiful understated scent and a nice creamy lather. Haven’t tried it with my Gillette New yet but I sure will next shave.
The Gillette NEW is my favorite vintage razor. A close shave without any damage to my face. I didn't know about the gold plating over brass v.s. over nickle. Thanks.

Is DR Harris a lot better than TOBS and Trumpers ? I have never purchased DR Harris soap because it looks like TOBS or Trumpers but A LOT more expensive.
Hmm Matt I might have to look at getting some of that brand of soap as I currently use Taylors of Old Bond Street soaps, and I have also been using that slant cut technique for a while now and find it useful because my beard grows in different directions especially under my jawline and on my neck. I shall have to look the soap up on the net as being in Australia I cannot afford the shipping costs from either the US or the UK. By the by mate you are living dangerously using a double pass LOL!! That is something that I do as normal and I use Thayers Witchhazel to get the last remnants of the stubble to stand up (it;'s also really refreshing) before applying the Nivea Two-Phase aftershave lotion!!
Congrats - you're the winner of the Weekly T-Shirt give-away! Please contact us at help@razoremporium.com with your address and size and we will get it shipped out right away! Thanks everyone! Stay tuned next week for another giveaway! - Razor Emporium Team
Tried using your link and the options available are confusing on the website. I can get one tube for £18 or six for £18. Not sure of the weight as its not obvious.
I have a question. Old chap (UK) recently returned to proper DE Safety razors. Have dived in at the deep end & spent a fortune on razors, blades, bowl, and shaving creams/soaps. Now my fetish seems to be the creams etc. At last count I had about 10, some in tubs of different sizes, and tubes. I read that these used correctly can last up to 5 months! So on that basis I am good for over 4 years! I will probably be dead by then, so why am I buying these products. Is their a cure? Might their be a sort of shaving anonymous, where we can gather in a circle holding hands and lathering up!
My oldest and most faithful razor is a Gillette New. I received it as a bonus in a vintage straight razor purchase on eBay. I really didn't realize what I had: it was in its original box in New, unused condition. That was about 35 years ago and it's been in my rotation ever since. A few years ago it began looking nasty as the gold began wearing away so, last year I sent it to you and you replated it in rhodium.... fantastic job, BTW!
How ridiculous! A man who doesn't shave trying to demonstrate how to shave. If your going to grow a beard, grow a beard. If your going to be clean shaven, be clean shaven.

Great Video Matt!! From what I saw the Windsor looks like a solid performer!!

Nice to see a shave with the Gillette New! Awesome!
Thanks 👍
I FINALLY put my Ambassador to use yesterday, it was indeed fun and the shave was over way too soon. Very nice piece of kit, well done!
Great to hear!
Thanks Matt. I have not really used DR Harris.
That's crazy! I was looking up Windsor shave soaps this morning after accidentally coming across it while researching some soaps. Thanks Matt

I would start with a shavette first.

Never tried D.R. Harris but i have tried Tobs and Truefitt & Hill.
Today’s shave: ‘58 flare tip Super Speed with a Silver Blue blade, Razor Emporium Lavender with Menthol soap & a Wolf Whiskers synthetic brush
I have DR harris soaps, Arlington, Marlborough, Sandalwood and Windsor all are great performers with wonderful scents and last a long time.
I’ve seen their sandalwood scent and I’ve been curious about! Thanks for the video

I have a "NEW" short comb nickle, long comb gold, and a copy. I was trying to decide what razor to use this evening, maybe I'll use one of those.
I picked up a DR Harris Windsor shaving stick while traveling in Belgium. I wasn’t familiar with the brand but had to try it. Beautiful understated scent and a nice creamy lather. Haven’t tried it with my Gillette New yet but I sure will next shave.
Another great video by Matt and the R.E. crew.
Hoping to get the Razor Emporium rep merch Prayge 🙏
i've had DR Harris for a few yrs but i hard pucks. need to go with the soft creams.
thanks for the vid.

Excellent shave Matt!! You know the products are working well when you add extra passes to your shave:))
oh yeah :)
I’ve heard that the scent “Arlington” is also a winner.
Good stuff Matt and Windsor is "Posh" for sure. Great shave and review, thanks. Stay cool!
thanks!
Beautiful set ❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍
Great shave! I got the sandalwood shaving creme from D R Harris and it smells and performes fantastic. The New looks very interesting!
Is DR Harris a lot better than TOBS and Trumpers ? I have never purchased DR Harris soap because it looks like TOBS or Trumpers but A LOT more expensive.
They each are a bit different
I've never tried either that brand or that razor. The blades though, yes. Was wondering what blade you'd use. Keep it Matt.... Love the vids.
Thanks 👍
That handle looks really close to the Heritage. Maybe a little bit shorter though.

Windsor looks pretty good on ya. I might have to give it a whirl myself.
Another great British shave product. Still love those Russian Permasharp blades

The Gillette New is one of the most efficient vintage razors in my rotation. I was really surprised by that when I first got it, it's hard to beat.
Hey Matt what brush are you using?
Razor Emporium amber
Nice review Matt, My wife closed the Rabbit Hole but, Christmas is coming 😀

happy to hear - a classic for a reason :)
Question. Can you take a black beauty razor and resurface the handle to be nickel instead of black powder coated?
No
How would a Parker 65R 56R compare and compare to a KING C Gillette

Nice!
are there any decent clones of the " new" ?
iKon's open comb is based on it. Many of the first Above the Tie razors too. I think Karve's open comb too. Many many people have cloned it.
Yo Matt what is Brushed you used in your Video?

He shot this before the release of the blades.
Thanks for the video Matt! I like the scent of their sandlewood. I'll check them out next time I'm in the shop, you know, like tomorrow. 😂
