on my shorts channel, I treat them exactly the same as my main video channel. However, I do not add an end screen as it takes up half the video or if you reduce the length it doesn't do much. However, I use it to drive to my main channel. I did decide to not place them on the main channel as I did not want to alter AVD on my main channel. I did try shorts with my audience and a lot of them didn't like it so the second channel was the way to go and to drive traffic across later. Its early days and RUclips has a habit of changing things so let's see what happens. maybe eventually I will move to the main channel, But your right treats them as if its one of your main video.
Hey Daniel, for people that do have the Shorts camera on their mobile device (like I do), after uploading your video you can go to the editor and do everything you can do for any regular video. Like turn on monetization, add a custom thumbnail, whatever.
Thank you, Daniel. I recently started a RUclips channel in February, am still learning how to do things on RUclips. But there's this video I uploaded called, "How to shuffle dance like a pro." I believe it's my 4th/5th video on RUclips. The video has over 700 views and counting, I currently have 41 subs. It's a 20-second video. There was a day I saw my video on the shorts shelf. This single video increased my channel watch time tremendously.
Thank you for the comparisons in your video, especially that shorts can show up in multiple search results. Being new, I did not even know about stories, so I am glad you mentioned that. Thankfully, I uploaded my first set of shorts on the desktop.
Adding shorts to my channel resulted in growth I didn't expect, but that was most definitely welcome! Thank you for putting this video out there and setting the record straight about shorts! 😊💖💎👍👍👍
Hey Daniel! I had 70 subs before using your youtube tips. Now I have 81 at present! I have been applying what you have been saying! Thank you very much for being a part of my channel growth! Btw nice video! 😊
Hi, new subscriber here. I have seen you on other channels and found yours because I am researching shorts. I have uploaded some, I don't have the short function yet so I add the hastag shorts in my title, description and tags. Thank you for the tips.
Thanks for this breakdown Daniel. I’ve been testing out shorts and enjoying them! I primarily upload them from my phone and then edit them (adding tags, thumbnail, links etc) on my laptop. ☺️
Awesome. Be intentional with those shorts. I watched a roofing channel do a short on shooters just flying through their pneumatic patterns. Couldn't stop watching. Paul Peck did a killer job showing his ceiling trowel technique too.
@@Daniel_Batal awwh man yeah Paul's a very good friend to the trades and myself! He's the one who got me onto shorts. Seriously haven't had this much fun making videos in years!!
Interesting take on Shorts...sorry meant #Shorts...I did a few and put some others on hold but this makes me step back and rethink it. SO agree with audience-first - solid! Appreciate this.

I know RUclips only serves our 3 videos a day but,,do shorts work that same way and do we need to allow time in-between uploads...Thanks Daniel. There is only one notification system so that’s what I would pay attention to. Think in terms of your audience. Whatever amount of content (in any form, video, short, community tab post...) in a time period which doesn’t leave you competing with yourself for the click
That's awesome! Yeah, if you do shorts with intentionality, they can be a huge part of channel growth just like live streaming or any other RUclips content feature. 👊😎☮
@@Daniel_Batal the funny thing is i are not getting many views, but because i only put a add at beginning of my full vids im getting the same for 1 minute haha
Im training my subscribers that my channel has a mix of shorts and regular videos. I really hope that the shorts will blow up because I like how it evens out the playing field especially for us small creators. My shorts that blew up is being seen in suggested videos that's why Im giving them a regular video treatment when it comes to titles and descriptions.
I wondered why you published a vertical format video. You cleared up more in this video than several of the RUclips "Guru" courses I have taken or FB groups I am in. As usual, Thanks again! The key point I got from this is shorts are a great source of additional traffic which MAY then stick around for more of your other content.
Good as always, Daniel! I'm very interested in the Shorts feature but all of the things you talked about mad me hesitant with people saying its useless or will hurt your channel. Now I feel more confident in the feature because as comic book tuber I think I can do some very creative things with Shorts.
@@Daniel_Batal awesome. Well thanks for putting time into making this video. Your insight into RUclips has always proven valuable to my own channel development as well.
I turned one of my art tutorials into a short in Filmora and got really fast views. I'll also see how musicians are using Shorts. The way you're describing them, I see this as only a good thing. I may not be able to create a well crafted video on each of my channels every week, but I could certainly create fun shorts, which would tell RUclips that I'm an active creator, right? I dunno. It all sounds good to me! :)

Yea, it’s a trigger to help RUclips know your video is a short. I would recommend using it even though RUclips can still recognize videos which meet the shorts requirements in other ways

I spent a bunch of time talking to a lot of creators, looking at data and even talking to some of our friends on the RUclips team. My opinion might change as the feature rolls out more but I this will be my approach for the time being
@@Daniel_Batal "My opinion might change", in the BC years when I was at JLR (you know, Before Covid), one of our mantras was "data driven decisions". And until now.... I'm still confusing to decide about this making Short Video... 🤔Would it be good or bad to the main channel ?? 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Yes! If you have a strategy.
Here’s mine: ruclips.net/video/oQPciJt_EoI/видео.html
Thank you 👍👍 That´s very useful information.
My pleasure 😊☮️
This is a great video and has really helped me out thanks
Glad it was helpful 😊☮️
Thanks a lot. Too bad that my channel hasn’t got the shorts feature yet 😔
Mine doesn’t either. You don’t need. To upload shorts
Well sound like I need to start making #shorts...... Have you did a vid on stories yet? Are they worth messing with? I missed my Sunday upload🙄.......Thanks for all you do brother.......
I haven’t really covered stories but I probably should
@@Daniel_Batal Come ooonnn..... You Can Do It.....LOL
Do you do stories? Is it worth the work?
I doubt you do them as I've never gotten notified of one from you or seen one.....
what an impressive insight of Shorts, It was really worth 9:53 minutes, Thanks @Daniel Batal
Dee Nimmin and I will be diving even deeper tomorrow on the Tubebuddy channel at noon EST-> ruclips.net/video/dw00T-GdRHg/видео.html
Daniel, I think you can make a Square video as well as a Vertical Video when doing shorts. Can you confirm? Good Stuff as usual!
The preferred upload aspect ratio is 9:16. That’s why they’re building the mobile camera feature around.
I’d recommend sticking with 9:16
This makes 110% sense!
Oh
@@BlueObbyMan Big boy math!!
So like a tree bends to follow the wind (a 'data driven decision' on the part of the tree), we allow our opinion to flex with the data, should the data change direction 👍👍
Killer video Daniel!!
Thanks!
It also happens to
Hey Daniel, I came across your content while searching how to create better video. I have followed your tutorials and can see the growth in views. I have subscribed and will continue to recomend your channel to like minded friends/peers trying to grow in youtube. Thanks
Glad to have you in our community!
Great video!
Thanks 😊
Thanks for the info 🙏
You're very welcome!
Awesome information my friend thx for the breakdown
You’re very welcome 😊
Interesting - thanks for making this 👍🏼
You’re very welcome 😊
@@Daniel_Batal I just jumped over to watch the TubeBuddy video recommended from Dee that you both did also.
I'm still unsure about adding this to my channel... I think I'll let it ride out for a while and see how it goes 🤣
But one can never be too informed either way 👏🏼
Don’t feel like you have to if you’re not comfortable with it. It’s not a requirement
You made some really good points! Thanks for taking the time to explain RUclips's new shorts content. I also think this is a nice way to allow small channels such as mine, that haven't met the minimum subscriber threshold, to create our own 'stories'.
Very true. It’s also a good way to bring awareness to your channel overall
Thanks for the info, appreciate it!
Glad it was helpful!
