Inaras/Morena Baccarins facial expressions in this episode are pure comedy gold. She is usually so cool, calm, collected and graceful, but when she looses her cool - like when she tries to cover up that sh kissed Mal or in that last scene, it's hilarious. Oh, and ofc, cat ❤
An important thing to remember with this series is that it isn't actually a 1 season show. It was canceled before the season was completely filmed. This is from the era when a show typically had 22-24 episodes in a season, and we only got 14, 12 originally aired. There was basically no "wrap up" for this season until the movie came out, and lots of things never got payed off or got cut short.
As a male, I have to say that this episode would never have worked so well without the impossibly beautiful and talented Christina Kendricks in the role of Saffron. She ought to be a household name, like Marilyn Monroe, but for some reason she hasn't achieved that degree of acclaim. An older and more buxom version of her, along with John Hamm, absolutely carried the series "Mad Men" on their shoulders for its entire run. The camera loves her, and she lights up the entire room whenever she's onscreen.
@@Yesquire0 Yes, but her "hotness" wouldn't affect me, and wouldn't be a reason for me to watch a show. I just object to the *_CONSTANT_* assertion guys make ALL the time that ALL men want women and will do anything for them. Hets are NOT the only people in the world.
Yay! Brownpants, er Browncoats forever! And nope, the Bible doesn't say that. But check out the Song of Solomon, I think, for some juicy text. The people on the planet are still friends - Saffron wasn't actually from there, she just used their traditions to run a scam. 🙂 She really pretty good at what she does! Great reaction!
When Mal says "Shes a human women that doesn't know a thing" he's saying she's not to be bartered and traded like a donkey. She's human, not a possession to be passed around.
Ooh, shirts! Love it! There definitely needs to be ones saying "I call it Vera" (and iconic line) with Jayne on, and possibly Book with "A special Hell". That's become a line among my friends when someone is about to do something dumb 😂😂
I never knew about the wedding ritual until it was revealed, but you were onto it right away. Sharp eye.😊 Having watched quite a few reactions to this episode, I can now spot what was going on. I guess the crew was just to drunk to suspect anything was going on.
The people from the town hired Mal and the crew to run the thieves who were attacking the people traveling to and from the town. They were celebrating their success afterwards. Saffron was working with those people who steal ships. What makes the most sense to me is that she travels around, doing other crimes, and when she comes across a ship worth stealing, she manipulates her way onto the ship. In this case, there was a big party, so it was probably easy for her to slip into the town unnoticed. The crew though she was a towns person, the towns people probably thought she came with the crew. Some people believe Mal was teasing Inara at the end, but there are moments later in the series that make me seriously doubt it.
Probably just the language barrier but “human woman, doesn’t know a thing about the world” clearly means that she is a human and a woman and is inexperienced in the ways of the wider world. In other words she is not property that can be traded and deserves to be treated with respect and protected from the bad things of the world.
A Nigerian reactor also recognized the wedding ceremony instantly, so it's not just something that Josh made up. A couple of things might have been clues: The fact that the village elder didn't mention Saffron as they departed. My question was how Saffron insinuated herself into the village population. I suspect she just crashed the party, and the villagers may have wondered who that woman was...but they were too courteous to say anything.
That village confuses me a little, because.. who were those man at the beginning? Not part of the village either? But why would they have a funeral (or at least sheppard puttinf them at peace) right there? Were they thief and since Mal and the crew got rid of them, they hosted a party in that honor? How did Saffron ended up there? 😵 Can you give me the name of that reactor ? ☺️ I want to watch other Firefly reaction when i'll be done!
