Actually, the movement begins and comes from the shoulders. I was taught by a ex-Russian prima ballerina. a couple of us were messing around between classes.doing “swan arms.” She demonstrated briefly then grabbed my shoulders. Best I can describe is pulling you shoulder blades closer together and releasing, letting movement flow out through your arms...(At that time, I had the posture,dropped relaxed shoulders and soft pliable arms ...now I hear arthritic crackling...)
Lilia Carman lol everyone knows Roberto is probably one of the best male dancers ever. Unfortunately, the spotlight will naturally be taken off of him in this particular ballet because this ballet was always meant to showcase the swan queen

the different qualities of her dancing when she is the black swan vs white swan is amazing. the black swan she always has this seductive smirk and is very sharp with her movements. i dont know how to really explain this but when she plays the role of the black swan she seems overpowering and almost selfish with her partner whereas the white swan is very gentle, very flowy, and equally as beautiful. svetlana will always be my idol. ❤️❤️

I love her feet! And not in the sicko way. Her feet are stunning and perfect in a pointe shoe. And it’s not necessarily her arch t her ankle. She never once adjusts or moves once she is set up in balance.

The more I watch this, the more I'm in awe of Roberto Bolle and his amazing partnering skills. Svetlana Zakharova looked amazing and made all her transitions look very smooth, but it was Roberto who really saved her in all those turns they did in the PDD - she was falling back most of the time.
She is the very Odette like she was born to be a black swan 10:25 her motion is so perfect as a swan Swan Lake is my favorite ballet play. And I think they are the most fittest dancers to the leading parts of it

Изначально великолепные данные и талант, ограненные лучшими педагогами и много-много работы. Помнится как-то читала, что прима-балериной - это реально только родиться, балетные все пашут, но изначальные данные играют огромную роль, нужно ВСЕ иметь, то бишь бриллиант можно сделать только из качественного алмаза, а это редкость.

У всех прим есть что-то совершенно эксклюзивное, у Плиссецкой - темперамент, харизма и тоже выразительнейшие руки, у Улановой - бесподобный артистизм и какая-то совершенно особенная воздушность, искрящаяся хрупкость Максимовой, идеальные до совершенства линии Захаровой - ее вполне можно на крышку музыкальной шкатулки, чувственность и редкая естественность Марианеллы Нуньез... У каждой свое, все потрясающе владеют телом, но каждая индивидуальна.

I think she is genial because she has a great musicality - it is like she tell us a story with her body when her soul is inspired by the music. Like great sopranos she have a marvellous fluidity, a corespondent of the "portamento". The do the steps on the notes with no additional movements, but with fluency. It is a must to mention the conductor - the manner in which he conduct the orchestra is so adapted for the ballet, different from the concert manner. Last but not least Roberto Bolle is very good. I think she heave such movement of abandon only with few partners - to mention Denis Matvienko - Le Corsaire at Balsoi and Raymonda from Tokyo are the best examples. They will be together at La Scala in Don Quichote. An contra argument can be how touching are Svetlana and Roberto in La Bayadere at La Scala, and how only a good profesionist is Svetlana in La Bayadere at Balshoi, I don't remember the name of her partner. Also to be mentioned is Teatro alla Scala - like in the '50 - Maria Callas said that - the theatre offer enough time and condition for repetition, to obtain performances. It is a part from La Bayader with Svetlana and this very stupid Polunin - he do not know the movement is obvious - and because of this in The Kingdom of the Shades she can not fall on the tip of her foot and did probably a painful movement.

"Exquisite" is the word that comes to mind. Sylvie Guillem is another that has this ethereal, otherworldly gracefulness.

У каждой свое, все потрясающе владеют телом, но каждая индивидуальна.

wow she is so believable!! I honestly am not a ballet person, but from all the other odiles i've seen on youtube she is definitely the most in tune with her character, i actually "understand" that she is trying to seduce the prince!

I think she is genial because she has a great musicality - it is like she tell us a story with her body when her soul is inspired by the music. Like great sopranos she have a marvellous fluidity, a corespondent of the "portamento". The do the steps on the notes with no additional movements, but with fluency.
It is a must to mention the conductor - the manner in which he conduct the orchestra is so adapted for the ballet, different from the concert manner.
Last but not least Roberto Bolle is very good. I think she heave such movement of abandon only with few partners - to mention Denis Matvienko - Le Corsaire at Balsoi and Raymonda from Tokyo are the best examples. They will be together at La Scala in Don Quichote. An contra argument can be how touching are Svetlana and Roberto in La Bayadere at La Scala, and how only a good profesionist is Svetlana in La Bayadere at Balshoi, I don't remember the name of her partner.
Also to be mentioned is Teatro alla Scala - like in the '50 - Maria Callas said that - the theatre offer enough time and condition for repetition, to obtain performances. It is a part from La Bayader with Svetlana and this very stupid Polunin - he do not know the movement is obvious - and because of this in The Kingdom of the Shades she can not fall on the tip of her foot and did probably a painful movement.
