You probably mean "Greater London" as for £200k you could only afford a parking spot in the "Central London". (And you are going to need as lot of luck finding a decent apartment for £200k within M25)
Good video, but just a few points from an ex inmate of The Dana ( X 4...)
1) When it was in use as a prison (It was decommisioned in 2013) It didnt suffer from the damp and mold that it has now.
Cells could be kept relatively clean and with personal effects around you and posters/pictures on the walls a cell could be lived in without too much discomfort...that is once you get used to deficating in front of your cell mate. All cells were 'two'ed up.
2) There WAS a choice of food but it was monotonous. Last time I was in (2002) it was always chips for dinner. What you could have with your chips varied but the main was always chips. Having said that, the food was edible unlike other prisons that Ive been a guest at.
3) Shrewsbury has only 2 wings (its a small nick) A wing & C wing. I never found out why there is no B wing.
A wing was not a suicide watch wing, it was the general population wing, with a suicide watch *CELL*.
C wing was the VPU...Vunerable Prisoners Unit...it housed mainly sex offenders.
4 ) Every cell had a TV by 2002. During my previous stay in 1999, there were no TV's.
All cells contained bunk beds, 2 sets of lockers, 2 tables and 2 chairs.
5) The 'canteen' where you had your meal was once the kitchens.
Prisoners collected their meals from the ground floor and took them back to their cells.
Once had a cell mate with diarrhoea while I was trying to eat my dinner. Your toilet is in your cell where you
eat, sleep and live together. Didnt eat my shepherds pie that day...

Do you know anything about the “butcher” inmate who apparently killed himself in the kitchen in the 60s? Was apparently quite violent and the warden took his kitchen duties off him and in anger he killed himself in the buchery room.

Gosh that brought back some chilling memories. I spent time in HMP Nottingham almost 20 years ago and the cells were that bleak.

Good video but I am a bit disappointed that they didnt offer visitors the prison style buffet you see in the movies! That would be on top of my list

I’ve heard a lot of people saying Prison isn’t that bad and you can get TV’s and all sorts. Feel like I wouldn’t want to end up locked up in Shrewsbury 😬
I know what you mean but yeh shrewsbury prison would of been a dark cold place to be locked up

No lads the food was called by the same names but it was nasty. I never saw a bed in prison like those wooden ones that was not special tho just the normal cell the pillows were terrible we used to wait for someone to go to court or home and nick the mattress cos the really old mattresses were worn down to the bars in the middle..
Yes you do and did get a choice of 7 meals on a Thursday but it's the same 7 choices of meals every Thursday and every other day of the week has is own 7 choices that never ever ever change, trust prison food us fuckin rank aswell

I have been to Shrewsbury prison have not slept over at it yet was gonna for me 18th but couse of COVID I couldn’t but me mom had slept over and fought a ghost on camera in red over all’s
