It makes no sense. I have youtube premium and they asked me if I wanted to try the new layout for a while, so I assumed that if I didn't like it I could switch back to the way it was. You should not have to install fixes to go back, you should be able to do it anyway.

Looks like the transcript option has also been removed. Not sure why I am still paying for this especially after June/July 2024 cancelling of all gun related channels.

oddly I just found this link to you're video and before watching yt went back to the old layout. Cool. Only had new layout for a few minits O_o
if ypu use the extension UNDISTRACTED the you can block the recommended videos on the side too

You can also do ublock origin extension, and copy paste a filter (its in another video) which does the same but without any extra features
