    it the classic example of misery loves company, he just couldn't stand that janice was doing better and he had so much angry still in him. He had to bring her to his level, which is why you see the smile when she flips.

The song by the Kinks says it all Listen to the lyrics. He was testing Janice because he needed to know the truth whether her behavior had changed or if it was who she truly was?

    Considering your intro, you gotta watch “The Wire” next. “The Wire” is another HBO show that aired during the same years as “The Sopranos” and I would say they are just about tied for the best two drama ever made. You will like it like you like Sopranos.

    The bear outside was a metaphor. She was calling divorce lawyers to finish with Tony, and the bear represented Tony, the big bear, always creeping around to where she can't get away from him.

    So funny how Meadow capes up for Vito and the crew knowing how Jackie Jr really met his end. Even though she doesn’t know it was Vito specifically that pulled the trigger. All to protect the family.

    Tony gives lip service to people close to him improving themselves, but truthfully he can't stand it. He's jealous of their personal accomplishments to change for the better. Probably because he has such a hard time improving himself. Misery loves company.

    Janice and the soccer game fight is one of the best comedy bits of the series especially when the cop tackles her. I have to always rewind it a few times to watch it again. The Johnny Soprano family is the epitome of “crabs in a bucket mentality” where one starts to do well and someone has to drag them back down. No wonder the other sister ran and married a nice, quiet guy.

    I always thought Carmellas reaction to Meadow being engaged was her remembering a time when she was happy and excited to be engaged to Tony. Young love and once feeling happy, and being worried that her daughter would feel trapped as she gets older like she does.

    Tony was buying what Janice was saying, about controlling her anger and the sadness lifting.. _"Depression is rage turned inwards"_ He remembered the words of Dr Melfi. He just felt inadequate cause now he's the only angry Soprano... so he made sure he corrected that at the end of the episode.

    Tony is watching people around him grow and change, but he is unable to, so he tries to make everyone as miserable as he is. His whole arc through this entire series is realizing that he can't change for the better and the best he can do is accept who and what he is.

    I said it from the start, there is not a single character in this show that is completely likeable. Sil comes close but then they remind you that your liking him is also misplaced. It is the beauty of this show...no other show touches on human nature like The Sopranos..no other show gets close. You want to root for Tony but the writers just wont let you.

    Tony couldn't bear to see Janice getting along with her new family. The dinner scene represented the family life he pissed away by choosing not to keep it in his pants. He accomplished nothing. His family is still fractured because of his choices. Janice is trying to change.

    I think this is the moment Tony became Heisenberg - Melfi was getting comfortable (or reckless) enough to actually make serious progress... finally... for once (Not blaming her, Tony is what he is) and Tony understood he was now at a crossroads where he could turn a corner and actually work towards being a better person, or he could hit the accelerator and just embrace being a villain. Obviously remnants of the good man buried deep inside show up here and there - he'd still never hurt animals or children - at least not directly. But yeah, that Harpo moment is tough to watch - I mean, for sure Janice can rot in hell for abandoning her child, that said, Tony is quite the monster here. Such a damn good show. Modern entertainment sucks now. =/
