    Who would you recommend to stain staircase ? Painter? Hardwood floor refinish company ?

    • @GreenmarkBuilders
      @GreenmarkBuilders  3 года назад

      A lot of painters say they can refinish stairs, I’ve yet to be impressed with any job done by a painter. Hardwood refinishers seem to consistently do a good job for us.

    What filler were you using for hardwood?

    • @GreenmarkBuilders
      @GreenmarkBuilders  Год назад

      Elmer's Wood Filler. I think you can get this product at Home Depot

    If a black paint is applied are we able to undo it? And stain it with another coat?

      I would suggest using paint stripper first. You will be sanding for a very long time to get the black paint off, especially in the corners.

      @@GreenmarkBuilders I just sanded and stained my stairs. I thought I needed varathane. I used oil base varathane, satin finish but I didn’t like the outcome. So purchased semi gloss varathane. Hope it turns out 🙄.

      @@lilymachado7418 You should be happy with the semi gloss. We find the finish is much more durable and easier to maintain. You will see the defects in your finish more though. Thanks for sharing your comments:)

    What's the name of the stain? And what grit of sand paper did you used?

    • @GreenmarkBuilders
      @GreenmarkBuilders  6 лет назад +1

      Started with 150 grit then worked our way up to 300 grit. This stain was a custom stain to match the flooring from the main floor.

      We generally use Minwax stains and Fabulon for our clear coat. Once we use clear coat we usually use a minimum 220 grit sand paper.
