The Himalayan isn't that great on the highway. I have felt several times that the tires may have got punctured but it is because of the tyre profile that there a mild wobble which feels weird during rides especially on rough tar or concrete roads. The gearing is definitely tall for offroad and city which makes for a higher clutch usage. The bike could have been better with a shorter first(just like the low range on SUVs) and an additional sixth gear. That adventure 390 teaser at the end was epic! "One bike to rule them all; one bike that can take everything India has on offer..." :) Got to say, in 2022, I am tempted about an xpulse with rally kit, alongside my dominar which could eventually make way for the adventure 390 once I get enough off road chops on the xpulse to deserve the 390 adv. It's a difficult task to find that one bike to do it all.
Though I love Himalayan but its quite clear now that its more like 'ghar ka na ghat ka' machine !!! Xpulse wud ve kicked sm asses if it wud ve been around 250-300cc segment but then again no complains at that price point !!! good work guys !!!
Finally it's not about the bike it's about the money. The more you spend, the better you get. Liked your video and subscribed. Good job, keep posting the great videos like this.
Hero is light years ahead of RE in reliability and easy maintenance, moreover ability to troubleshoot and kick start your bike in middle of nowhere is PRICELESS!!!
This is what I call a review that cant go any better than this, we should encourage every industry who's daring to make the difference even after failing once for the same genre of product. Dare = Hero. I am having this as my only bike the white one.
Hey guys nice comparison. Heart goes with Himalayan. Only factor xpulse is ahead is weight factor. Himalayan has less average more expensive then XPulse but it has that X factor that's missing in XPulse. Hmm rightly said Cannot ignore XPulse but as Second bike though. Himalayan needs some serious weight cuts and a sixth gear. But till then Himalayan rules. For first time bikers with less weight can go for Xpulse, but people already riding 150 or 200plus cc bikes Himalayan is the choice.
What a review! What an experience! The clarity of thought and the presentation.. Loved everything about the video ❤❤ thank you guys, my search for comparison between these two bikes ends here.
If you don't like both of them, buy a mojo ger a Scropion STR tyre a good bash plate and rynox gear will cost you 2.5L on road you get extra 5 ps and better brakes, engine, smooth engine (MotoGP derived) It will be cheaper than Himalayan which is 2.6L on road with all the gismo (Bangalore prices)
On a sunny day at hero motos design center- THE SMART ENGINEER: sir the chassis and suspension system for our new performance range is ready. I think we should use the 223cc engine we have. It's our most torquey motor and we can also add a 6th cog. It will be great sir! DESIGN CHIEF: beta..... You are working at the center for innovation and technology. There will be no innovation if we use the legacy of our old partner. Let me show you how it's done ( takes the 150cc honda mill and rebores it). See beta we've got an ALL NEW engine. Now this is what you call INNOVATION! MUNJAL: we will dominate the segment for sure.
After crossing 20K recently and exploring fair bit of South India, Himalayan is an absolute beast for.long tours, off trails. How ever I feel it is on the heavier side that ruins it for you on the off road. If it would have been 20-30 kg lighter, it would have been the best motorcycle for me.
I won't like to take a "ahem ahem" friend on offroading though !! Nailed it man!! Great way to tell about seats. "Ahem ahem" friend finds scooty comfortable to sit.
Thanks for putting in the effort to articulate it to this extent, guys. Much better content and perspectives than the other comparison vids out there so far on the same subject. Mostly fair comparison too. Just wish you'd have ridden it over longer distances, more varied terrain, and more challenging offroad sections (loose rock surfaces, sand, water crossings, pockmarked roads, hilly trails etc) for a few days and come to your conclusions. I disagree with the bit about xpulse being at best a 2nd bike in the garage. Most people who'd buy an xpulse probably wouldn't give a shit about having a 2nd bike or 3rd bike. I mean, that's what a dual sport is for isn't it... to avoid the hassles of owning multiple specialized bikes? If I didn't own an Impulse, I'd still pick the Xpulse over the Himalayan even if it means a tad slower highway speeds because I wouldn't buy the bike just to ride the highway in the first place. And IMO, the xpulse is far ahead in terms of overall usability compared to the Himalayan simply because of the lower weight. But I do get the easy natured appeal of the Himalayan. Easy to ride on the road, easy to tractor off the road, just as long as things don't get tricky. And yeah, just the inclusion of a 6th gear and an easy 100-110 kmph cruising capability would have hit the value proposition out to space. It should have been a no brainer decision for Hero. I'm sure they could have cut costs elsewhere like the stupid looking luggage rack. I just don't understand manufacturers. My Suzuki 150 cc from 2010 has a 6th gear and does easy cruising at 90-100 kmph all day (It's overengineered for what it's supposed to be and takes a fair bit of offroad bashing too for being a roadbike).
So Himalayan is good On the Road...😂🤣😂 Wrong name given. they should have named it NH-28 or something You guys forgot to take it in water ! See how Himalayan Does
Such a killer comprehensive review. Just happy that i was not the one deciding (or waiting to know) which one among these wins. Such a difficult task to choose. The wait is still on, or maybe I have answer India is looking for. Maybe.
Now that's what I call A "Review".. 👍👍👍 Hope Xpulse now calm down the super inflated Impulse Second hand market prices. P.S. We all are waiting for that "One bike to rule them All"- D390ADV
Honda had a adventure bike based on same engine as Karizma ( CRF230F). Had Hero built that bike 4 years ago, it could have killed Himalayan! Another missed opportunity was Mahindra Mojo Adventure edition. Mahindra talked about an adventure bike and then dropped it.
Fantastic way of reviewing a motorcycle........I thought it was a powerdrift review and after watching half of the video I realised that it's zigwheels!
Maybe RE is holding the 650 Himalayan just to rub chillies in Bajaj's eyes for KTM 390 Adventure. And maybe they are holding on to 390 Adventure just for 650 Himalayan, but that would make a joke itself.
Watching this from Europe, I was thinking of riding from Europe to India next year, we'll see how the Carnet de passage works out. If it is too much cash, I will just fly to India, buy a bike and ride around for six months. The hero at just about 1 lakh looks perfect. Enjoyed the video lads, well done.
@@zigwheels Actually, all I need is an Indian friend to buy the bike in their name and then I can ride with their permission. Simple as that. Much easier than getting a Carnet. But obviously the trip from Europe to India would be amazing. However an alternative would be South to North India over a period of a few months. I have a few good friends in India so that part is easy. Incredible India
Simply loved this one. I keep waiting for PD and KS with their new videos. It's not just a review, i feel connected to you guys, the way u talk and communicate.
There are lot of areas of improvement for Xpulse..... 1)There is no cooling system, neither liquid cooling nor oil cooling.Hence, long distances are harsh on engine. No off-roader would take a bike to off road in a truck,we need to travel more than 200 km to find an off-road,a cooling system is must for this. 2)There is no 6th gear 3)Struggling a lot even at normal speeds of 90+ km/hr,4 valves can be an economic alternative to the issue. 4)A little more power is a must, learn from Bajaj NS200. 5)Tubeless spoke wheels are required
Himalayan 32Nm torque and exhaust note cannot be compared to any but I personally feel the suspension of xpulse is better than Himalayan. And I have ridden both the bikes today.Zigwheels won my heart for their honesty.Dino n bulu are also great motorcyclist.
On the average most riders aren't experienced or expert enough to extract the maximum fun out of the Himalayan. The Xpulse is more manageable, more throwable, more agile and when off-roading, when some amount of fatigue sets in, you'll wish you had the Xpulse rather than the Himalayan. And like you've observed: Touring: Himalayan Off-roading: Xpulse Edit: i know this video is 4 years old and a new 4Valve Xpulse has come out but i wanted to see a comparison with the Himalayan. I've been travelling a mostly bad road highway between my home and place of work and i often ride home for the weekends and my interest in the Xpulse has shot up sky high. I have a meteor 350 right now but that is good for crusing. And you guys summed up my thoughts perfectly. I'll be having an Xpulse 4Valve as my second bike.

This is what I call a review that cant go any better than this, we should encourage every industry who's daring to make the difference even after failing once for the same genre of product. Dare = Hero.
I am having this as my only bike the white one.
Highway touring +offroad then himalayan
If only city commuting+offroading then xpulse
I choose himalayan
Always a pleasure to watch these two reviewing bike. They've got incomparable passion. Love that moment when the Himalayan stuck in the slush.
Well put together.... Hats off zigwheels team🙌 the end was fantastic.. 🌪️
12:32 blututh...
don't for some reason that made me laugh 😆😆😐
btw nice review 👌🔥
20201 Himalayan 🔥🔥switched of ABS
Navigation.. 🔥
What a review! What an experience! The clarity of thought and the presentation.. Loved everything about the video ❤❤ thank you guys, my search for comparison between these two bikes ends here.
Fantastic video. Super editing. Mind boggling reviewers. Finally nice videos. 💙💙💙💙
If you don't like both of them, buy a mojo ger a Scropion STR tyre a good bash plate and rynox gear will cost you 2.5L on road you get extra 5 ps and better brakes, engine, smooth engine (MotoGP derived)
It will be cheaper than Himalayan which is 2.6L on road with all the gismo
(Bangalore prices)
Great comparison video. I just wished this was made after 4v was launched. Loved watching this.
On a sunny day at hero motos design center-
THE SMART ENGINEER: sir the chassis and suspension system for our new performance range is ready.
🙈
After crossing 20K recently and exploring fair bit of South India, Himalayan is an absolute beast for.long tours, off trails. How ever I feel it is on the heavier side that ruins it for you on the off road. If it would have been 20-30 kg lighter, it would have been the best motorcycle for me.
Absolute gem of a review guys! The content, presentation and i involvement.. Fab!✌️
I won't like to take a "ahem ahem" friend on offroading though !! Nailed it man!! Great way to tell about seats. "Ahem ahem" friend finds scooty comfortable to sit.
Wow, wonderfully covered the pros and cons of each bike.
This is the best video of bike review I have seen. keep it coming 👍
Well done........probably, Best done review......thanks a lot!!!
So Himalayan is good On the Road...😂🤣😂 Wrong name given. they should have named it NH-28 or something
You guys forgot to take it in water ! See how Himalayan Does
Melvinson haha haha
Bro...i watched 20 to 25 review but this is the best Review i watch about xpulse & also a comparison.
Lovely Video , fantastic hard work. 😍
where near pune did you go for off-roading ?? location please
This was at Kamshet. Shall we ride!? - KS
@@zigwheels thanks sir....👍🤘
Wonderful review guyz. I have been waiting for long. As an automobile enthusiast i can see that your growth....keep going guyz. 👍
Such a killer comprehensive review. Just happy that i was not the one deciding (or waiting to know) which one among these wins. Such a difficult task to choose.
The wait is still on, or maybe I have answer India is looking for. Maybe.
OMG the best comparison .
It was feels like i was watching Discovery channel. Perfectly professional blog. ❤❤❤❤💚💚💚
If Xpulse had atleast 300cc plus engine it would've smoked Himalayan.
But it doesnt.
Xpulse might struggle with luggages and stuffs, it’s more like dual sport rather adventure
Now that's what I call A "Review".. 👍👍👍 Hope Xpulse now calm down the super inflated Impulse Second hand market prices.
P.S. We all are waiting for that "One bike to rule them All"- D390ADV
We don't know what it's going to be... If it does exist... 😁
X pulse with a old karizma r engine with fuel injection making around 22 to 24 bhp could have killed the competitions
I love it. In India you guys have so much more selections on smaller bikes up to 600cc. Sometimes is less more.
Himalayan reliability is doubtful till date, still it's a nightmare for some owner
well done zigwheels !! the best comparison between two bikes. clearly covered every aspect.. well done once again..!
Xpulse without any doubt better bike. RE Himalayan is not reliable breaks frequently
This is the best comparison video of anything that i evr watched, well done guyz
Love you guys thanks for making great relatable contents
Fantastic way of reviewing a motorcycle........I thought it was a powerdrift review and after watching half of the video I realised that it's zigwheels!
Ha ha Same here
Maybe RE is holding the 650 Himalayan just to rub chillies in Bajaj's eyes for KTM 390 Adventure.
And maybe they are holding on to 390 Adventure just for 650 Himalayan, but that would make a joke itself.
Deadlock.

While Carnet will be expensive, it'll be easier and hassle-free as compared to buying somthing here. Renting here may be an option.
Xtreme 200 my next choice.
Love this video! Greetings from Guatemala!
7:42 I know exactly what he's talking about!!
Simply loved this one. I keep waiting for PD and KS with their new videos. It's not just a review, i feel connected to you guys, the way u talk and communicate.
15:23 "The Perfect bike: 390 Adventure"
There are lot of areas of improvement for Xpulse.....
1)There is no cooling system, neither liquid cooling nor oil cooling.Hence, long distances are harsh on engine. No off-roader would take a bike to off road in a truck,we need to travel more than 200 km to find an off-road,a cooling system is must for this.
2)There is no 6th gear
3)Struggling a lot even at normal speeds of 90+ km/hr,4 valves can be an economic alternative to the issue.
4)A little more power is a must, learn from Bajaj NS200.
5)Tubeless spoke wheels are required
Get the Xpulse, find back roads, rip it, have fun, find trails, rip it again, have fun!
That's how a review should be honest and unbiased, covering all important points, perfect.
my Himalayan gave me 26-30 depends on ride,
so i m surprised that your bike gave 38.5 , plz dont fool us.. 🙏🙏🙏
I used to ride my Himalayan and it gave about 25.. then I gave it to my dad and he manages 32-35 everyday.. seriously ..I was amazed.. 😂
Really very informative and helpful comparo..... Love your efforts... Thank you very much
Thats why they say "Haathi mat paalo"🤣🤣😂😂
Himalayan 32Nm torque and exhaust note cannot be compared to any but I personally feel the suspension of xpulse is better than Himalayan. And I have ridden both the bikes today.Zigwheels won my heart for their honesty.Dino n bulu are also great motorcyclist.
Hati kuthasa bahatar hai 💪💪💪😜😂
One of the best comparison video I have watched till date... I dint realized it's 15 min video...awesome guys...
Whew! Always relieved to hear that! 🙏 Thank you. - KS
Himalayan ❤️
Shandaar! Bong pike itna khush kaafi time bad hua
XPulse.... 👍
On the average most riders aren't experienced or expert enough to extract the maximum fun out of the Himalayan. The Xpulse is more manageable, more throwable, more agile and when off-roading, when some amount of fatigue sets in, you'll wish you had the Xpulse rather than the Himalayan.
And like you've observed:
Touring: Himalayan
Off-roading: Xpulse
Edit: i know this video is 4 years old and a new 4Valve Xpulse has come out but i wanted to see a comparison with the Himalayan.
