    Jonathan! I just came across this video and just have to say how much I admire you as a person. One of the nicest, most respectful, talented people I have ever met! I wish more people were as genuine and kind as you are.

    Thank you for sharing this! I am a music teach, pianist and a group fitness instructor online and I cannot even believe it took me this long to realize how to do this! I've been using 2 camera angles in fitness with OBS and my paid streaming platform, but wanting to be able to offer classes where I can see the participants and OBS is not so easy to use functionally with zoom. Thank you so much!

    Thank you kind sir, I will forward this to my wife who teaches in public school and had questions about multiple video sources for a Zoom meeting. I recognized Windmug by Franz Schubert in that small fragment too. Cheers!

    FYI: Delays between cameras is often due to the computer and phone / tablet being on separate networks. Make sure your phone / tablet is using your home wireless network and NOT the cellular network. Also, if the computer is connected through an ethernet cable and not wireless, while your phone / tablet is using wireless, you could see a difference there as well, but it should be very small.

    Nice vid. I’m only going to be using iPad & overhead iPhone. I’m planning to get an Apogee HypeMiC Microphone to improve the sound which would greatly benefit your setup as well 👍

    Hi. Thanks for making this video. It is very helpful as I’m rearranging my teaching space again. I’m puzzled by one thing which I was having trouble with when I did this on my own. When you were showing speaker view and discussing spotlight, your side camera (phone) was actually highlighted. But you had joined the meeting without sound on the phone. So I’m wondering why it was the main window. I would think only the main laptop camera would be highlighted for speaker view. Hope that question makes sense. Thanks again.

    This is a creative work around, BUT....
    In this age of remote learning... ZOOM needs to step up to make this functionality built in for one user.
    Additional they need to be able to do split screen for multiple cameras.

    I tried this and the video quality form my phone is incredible. I have the audio turned off on my phone. I am experiencing a huge time delay from the phone video. Is your computer hard wired to the modem? My desktop is hard wire to the modem, and (obviously) the cell phone is not. Thanks for your suggestions.

    I hear your Variations Sérieuses!
    What’s your Internet speed for this to work well?
    So you do you send a link each morning to the students for that day with the meeting ID?
    Also, you should be able to copy/paste that meeting ID from MacBook to iThing. So you don’t have to type it.
    Thanks, Jonathan! This was helpful!

    • @SouthShorePianoSchool
      @SouthShorePianoSchool  4 года назад +1

      Yes, I have been meaning to get Mendelssohn back up to speed! Or perhaps it should be Variations Un-Serious ;-)
      I just did a Speedtest, and I clock in at 98.5 Mbps download speed and 118.07 Mbps upload speed. Not really sure yet if there is an established "minimum" for it work with X number of devices. Perhaps a study is in order!
      Yes, a link that morning, though if my computer crashes, I need to send a "this is the new link" message.
      Or, another thing you can do (which I haven't done yet, which would probably actually save me more time) is use your "personal meeting ID," which is a consistent link and meeting number, so the students just have "the link" that will go to your ongoing "lesson room" week to week.
      I didn't know you could copy the meeting ID from MacBook to i-whatever! How do you do that?
      So glad this helped, and thanks for watching/posting! You're the man!

    • @musicfoundationspianostudi4579
      @musicfoundationspianostudi4579 4 года назад

      @@SouthShorePianoSchool I don't know how copy/share works between my iDevices, but it does! They probably just have to use the same Apple ID or something. Try it!
      Oh yeah...you said you have some kind of lighting setup to deal with the shadows on the piano keys...what do you use for that?

  • @sjchiodo
    @sjchiodo 4 года назад

    Very cool. Would a student watching the lesson be able to select a camera view themselves rather than you switching it? Seems like your hands are busy playing. Thanks for the helpful video.

    • @SouthShorePianoSchool
      @SouthShorePianoSchool  4 года назад

      Stephen Chiodo Thanks so much for watching! Unfortunately, there isn’t a way for the student to change camera angles, but it’s not too much of an inconvenience to change when needed. Or, sometimes I will leave the overhead keyboard camera on if it’s not a necessity for them to be looking at my face or the side view. Glad it was helpful!

  • @robibotos5737

    Can you decide/switch where your main audio comes from? If you had a plug-in mic in your device above you, could you use that as the main audio for the lessons?

    • @SouthShorePianoSchool
      @SouthShorePianoSchool  4 года назад +1

      Yes, absolutely! All you have to do is click the small downwards arrow next to the mute button. This pulls up the menu where you can select your input microphone as well as your output. You can toggle this back and forth just like you can with video.

    • @robibotos5737

      @@SouthShorePianoSchool Great.Thanks. i'd start on my macbook, but I have a shure mv88 which would be plugged into my iPhone (2nd device) above me (bird's eye angle for piano lessons) and that's the mic i need for both my voice & piano...I guess your suggestion will do the trick. Thanks again

    • @SouthShorePianoSchool
      @SouthShorePianoSchool  4 года назад +1

      @@robibotos5737 oh, I see! So actually, if you're using the mic on your 2nd device, just make sure you turn the audio off on your main device. That's one thing you can't do - toggle audio on one device from another device. But, if you just use your phone as the "audio" device entirely, then that should work. Just let me know if that's confusing at all!

    How much does it cost for zoom to teach

    • @SouthShorePianoSchool
      @SouthShorePianoSchool  8 месяцев назад

      It’s around $15/month. You can try the free plan, but there is a limit to how long your Zoom meeting can stay open, and you can’t schedule back to back meetings anymore.

    how to manage students in a group class for piano with zoom? please help me

    • @SouthShorePianoSchool
      @SouthShorePianoSchool  4 года назад

      Arun Prakash For a group class, you would need a paid account, which allows up to 100 participants and lifts the 40-minute limit. The students do not need any kind of paid Zoom account, just you the host. If the class has younger kids, it’s helpful for them to have a parent close by to help with tech things or to help keep things focused. Since students can’t play “together,” the more you can engage them in concepts and have them interact with one another through playing, listening, and games the better!
