Jesse Plemons was truly masterful in this episode. Such a layered, meta acknowledgement of the classic tropes of sci-fi with the conceit that the character himself is also playing a role. Brilliant!
Star Trek is so iconic that even someone I know who had never seen the original series - or any of the series - knew that the opening was parodying it.
He has the Shatner voice down pat with imitation but not satire or parody like most others. By contrast, his real world self sounds way different. Genius performance.
What a heroic and brilliant captain! Im sure he treats his crew mates with the upmost respect.
Just like Captain Kirk, huh?
“Utmost”
Or is that an in-joke I missed?
I've seen the episode. And he was actually rude to his shipmates.

He’s like Captain Kirk mix with homelander and I love it
Such a cheesy opening, I love it 🤣
I like how the ship's look develops thorugh the episode
Yeah that was my favorite thing about this episode
I love how they made this scene look like the old movie
And here this makes the whole ship seem so wholesome lol

I’ve never met someone who loves Star Wars
@@dadillonfulI said Star Trek.
I love that Jesse Plemmons tried to copy the exact mannerisms of William Shatner in Star Trek TOS

He would be an awesome Captain Kirk if they recast the role
One of my fav episodes
Perfect play of actors!)
I _LOVE_ how you can see the veneer fade briefly at 0:08 where you can see he's not enjoying his own acting
This intro is a spot-on Star Trek TOS parody👌🏻🖖🏻
Jesse Plemons was fantastic in this episode
If they ever cast a new Kirk they should pick him
The entire time watching this episode I couldn’t stop think about Todd from bb
The intro was so cringe lol
The NPC were lucky.
Dale was a good man.
If I had that kind of power in a game, things would be more .... kinky.
Bro…🤨
