DIY Direct Burial Cable Splicing: Permanent Waterproof Repair

Underground splice on 12/2 UF wire on a 20amp GFCI Protected circuit.
Splice Kit I used:

Grease nutts are better faster and cheaper.
The grease in them prevents water from getting in.

Faster and cheaper I would agree, but no thanks, not for me. I'm sure they can work, but I couldn't justify the silicone wire nuts being stronger, safer or more permanent in my mind than this method for a one time diy project. Also wire nutting 12awg solid core wire sucks in general even in electrical boxes.
