  • On this episode Jay Meagher tears down our stock 200,000 mile Honda K20 engine that came out of our AWD RSX project. This engine has seen upwards of 700HP, 100+ Pulls between 500-700WHP, and has been 10.1@137mph in the 1/4 mile. Honda engineering is pretty amazing, watch the video to find out what we found!

      did*. no longer. the K20 in this form has long been discontinued. we are stuck with the GDI "K20" in the NA 10th gen as the latest version and that thing is a dog and shares almost nothing. Then we have the L series in the 1.5 turbo cars that rev to a whopping 6300rpm and feel fragile as a rubberband all in the name of emissions and profit margin. also, both engines have plastic valve covers and plastic manifolds build into the side of the block so.. a 30 year old classic they can never be.

    Honda never fails to amaze me with their incredible engines. As overbuilt as these early K series engines are and as well as they tolerate insane RPMs and power on stock internals, I'm starting to think it would be virtually impossible to significantly wear out a reasonably stock one within a person's lifetime if it's maintained well. I'm not sure that anyone overbuilds engines to this extent anymore.

      BMW's B58 has earned quite a bit of recognition by now, but the S58 is a different animal. Intake, downpipe, upgraded turbo internals, and port injection are all it takes to make 1000hp at the crank with those motors. Evolve Automotive has one at that power level with those mods and forged rods. Everything else is stock. They probably could have kept the stock rods but they wanted "play it safe".

      Not a k series but one of the older engines by honda. My buddy literally had one with a million miles on it without an oil change. We did a whole lot of bad thing's to it to finally kill it.

      @averyalexander2303 8 месяцев назад

      @@bmxriderforlife1234 Their older engines are very solid too, but a million miles without an oil change on any engine is quite the stretch lol. The K series especially suffers from bad rings, worn timing chains, and i-VTEC problems if the oil isn't changed regularly or gets low for too long, but can't blame that on the engine.

      @averyalexander2303 my buddy had an old civic. First owner sold it cause the dipstick broke off and didn't wanna deal with it. Lady who bought it as her first car and sold it to my buddy knew nothing about cars. I'd had previously been in an accident because she didn't know you had to do brake servicing.....she never topped up any fluids or did any pad replacements or rotors till the accident. Only point that car would've had an oil change was then. My buddy got it for so cheap he gave zero shits and never did an oil change. Keep in mind this is stock hp levels. Same engine people used to build and before an engine swap would just beat on them to see how long they'd survive. 400hp no oil dry burnout runs for minutes till a rod went flying was common. I think his motor was like 140hp xD they survive alot of abuse
