It's not a rant, you're making valid points which QR and EY ought to consider. There's rumours abound EK might enter into the short haul narrow body market as their profits have nosedived recently and they realise they can't throw a 777 into every new destination. Time will tell. Solid review as always mate!! Andy
Thanks mate. There's a lot to be said for EK's consistency and very limited fleet. Can't imagine how difficult it must be logistically for both EY and QR to run such a diverse fleet. Agree that a 777 is too big for lots of destinations and a narrow bodied aircraft may be required however they really need to ensure the product is at least somewhat comparable or significantly reduce the price charged. I don't think EK is alone in falling profits at the moment - lots feeling the pinch and cutting costs. The downturn in travel to the USA won't be helping them. cheers D
They should follow in the footsteps of an airline like copa airlines which has lie flat business clsss seats on their narrow body fleet. I’m sure they can just put the old 2-2-2 type business class seats on their narrow body fleet in a 2-2 configuration
Another great review. The best flight review channel, No BS, direct, straight to the point and not camp like many flight male flight reviewers. Keep up the good work. Ps congrats on over 15,000 subscribers.
I really love how your videos are short but yet detailed. I have seen other reviewers and their videos are soooo long and I don’t have that kind of time on my hands. So I love your videos thanks for making them short yet very detailed
Hi dennis i just wanted to say that watching your videos really make my day :) my fav flight channel on youtube as i enjoy that you speak and target the most interesting thing about flights unlike other channels who just put text and make me skip ahead to the interesting part! If you take the time to read this comment i was wondering if would do a british airways review for example from melbourne to singapore as they are my home airline! Greetings from britain hope you respond!
Hi Thanks for the nice comments and the sub! Really appreciate it. I'm flying with BA in May on the 787 and the 777 so will review both - flying from Cairo to JFK via LHR so sadly my video camera will have to travel in checked luggage and the review will be filmed on my phone - hopefully it will turn out okay. cheers D
Awesome cannot wait! im sure the video will be great no matter what you record it on! May is my birthday month as well! thanks for responding. enjoy your travels
I just subbed. I love this guy already. Great style, and an Aussie so that's important for me perspective wise. What he picks up on will almost certainly be what I notice/ like/don't like.
Ifichosemynameitwouldbegreat Review In qatar airways if you want to have your own screen then they will give you an induvidual ipad with a variety of movies
Problem is, these are the older jets, and when they came into service, those drop screens were state-of-the-art, and would have been expensive. Today, IFE is still expensive, and airlines are continually updating it. However, the current trend in IFE is to get rid of the screens completely, and have passengers connect to WiFi with their own personal device, and watch what they like. This is United's plan, I believe. Your iPhone 4s has more processing power than these IFES. But, on these aircraft without IFE, they should have a tablet for each biz class passenger, loaded with entertainment, and loan it out to them. This is a fraction of the cost of installing and maintaining an IFE.
Locutus unfortunately I've had it happen many times flying on different American airlines (different American companies, not the airline itself) where I am unable to properly run the in-flight entertainment on my phone. For whatever reason it just doesn't seem to work
Well, sure. In an ideal world... But I've been flying most of my life. I don't remember some of the first flights I was on, but I remember many of them. This is simply a problem of age. When I was little, I remember 747's with actual projector screens. Eventually, it became the norm to have TV's mounted in the aisle, on the ceiling, which all showed the same thing. These were CRT screens too. You either watched it, or not. There were LCD versions of the same idea a bit later (as seen in the video) Then, at some point in the 2000's we got individual LCD screens, but everything was still on a schedule. There were about 6-8 channels, and you could choose which one you watched, but it wasn't an on demand system. Each channel showed things continually, like a TV broadcast, and you simply chose what you wanted to see. Around 2005ish was the first time I saw a video on demand system. Nowadays I presume that is pretty much the norm on most flights that have modern equipment, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see older aircraft that have older style equipment. For instance, on that same trip in 2005 I went from a long haul to a short haul flight, and the short haul aircraft had the old style Ceiling mounted displays I was quite used to. But, being a very short flight, they didn't even turn them on. Old planes have the equipment they have. That's just how it is.
Interesting review. I've taken Qatar's business class from Hong Kong to Europe twice. On one of the segments, there were two rows of seats behind the galley, just in from of economy, and the noise level was totally unacceptable. Fortunately, I was able to move to a seat in the main section of business class. Their business class on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner was FABULOUS.
Dennis, I have to agree with you there. I'm always disappointed on the second Etihad leg from Abu Dhabi because they fly these older model aircraft. I think that's the reason I've always preferred Emirates in terms of consistency.
Hooray, finally an Aussie flight reviewer! I just subbed and I really like your style. Look forward to going through your video backchannel. We are serviced in Australia and our region by the best airlines in the world, avoiding most of the horrific performers from Europe (BA gets a special mention) and America.
Karl P oh I really like BA they may not be the best of the best but I defintley like their economy and business class product even if first isn't that amazing
You prefer BA over Qantas? Sometimes is a tough call actually. I flew Quantas BC once and the IFE system didn't even work. But that was 7 years ago and the hard product has really improved. So I've been told.
I've always enjoyed Qantas, but my European friends are taken aback a bit by the 'hail fellow well met' familiarity of the crew. Personally I like it, but my more uptight European friends have felt out of their element some times. Once. on a flight from KL back to Oz, the plane was grounded due to technical problems. The crew were brilliant, and kept us totally informed. Then the replacement plane from Melbourne developed a fault too, and they organised overnight accommodation, negotiated with us in that unique Aussie way we have with each other. They got the elderly, women and kids away to hotels first and at every stage, kept us completely informed of what was happening. Like I say, I love Qantas but my friends have found our Aussie ways a bit disconcerting.
WAYNE SMITH. Yes, I've seen some of that, but in BC they tone it down somewhat. I've long since stopped flying BA but I notice how their cabin staff just love chit chatting amongst themselves often to the detriment of attention to passengers. I don't want to sound like a snob, but to me there's nothing worse than hearing a bunch of Billingsgate Fishmarket accents cackling away in the background while they ignore you.
I flew into Nairobi mid December and left early January with Qatar and they did as you just mentioned. Inbound flight was on an out dated a320 and outbound flight was on a newer a320 (non sharket version). But not long ago Qatar airways announced a 3rd daily flight that is using the a332 for 9am departure out of Nairobi starting around may. Slowly they will improve as I find Qatar (when I am on their flagship product) really is better than ET or EK
Hi. Thanks for this. My wife and I are flying from Adelaide to Cyprus (we'll be using business class) later this year, and we have a choice of exactly 2 airlines - Emirates and Qatar. Qatar use A320s from Doha to Larnacca, about 4 hours but this is a morning flight, so lie flat seats are not an issue here. Emirates use their older 777s stopping on their way to Malta. It appears to be a 6 of 1 etc. situation. Since my wife wants a Dubai stopover..unless I can make Doha look really good! Again thanks from Port Hughes.
Finally someone who understands the concept of why a standard flagship product is essential, I most definitely wouldn't be paying the exorbitant premium price for flying business class which in my mind has always essentially been advertised as the lie flat seat with an IFE and then end up with this product instead. Great review mate!
I loved this like all your other videos, Dennis..again a fair and partly critical review. I was not aware they use these aircraft to Europe. For, me, they have been my usual business service between Doha and Africa over the last years. And believe me: you really got the very oldest one..they are not all like this. Unfortunately, all carriers seem to use their oldest metal to their african destinations. Yet. despite the shortcomings I came to love these QR flights - because you get a personal First Class service like on no other airline - in particular as often these small C cabins are only half full and you get the purser and one FA taking care of this small cabin. Even better: they tend to use these routes to train their rookies:)) So i often had flights with totally (over) motivated and lovely young women and men on their first ever business class flight who tried everything possible to apply all that they learned on me and to pamper me:) I think, as to service, you wont get any better C service anywhere on any airline compared to those african routes on the old aircraft - so this compensates quite a bit for me. As to the future of QR Luxury: I just uploades a video after quite some time - you are cordially invited. Ralf
Hi Dennis, I agree completely as I flew to Helsinki via Doha with QR. There is too much variability from the A380 to the A320 in economy. It's like going from a Rolls Royce to a Datsun 180B. The flight crew are great but QR really needs to update it's IFE systems on the A320 to provide a bit of consistency.
Absolutely agree Dennis. I’ve just had the same experience after coming off a Qatar a380 First to an a321 Business for five hours to Athens. I was more than happy to have the 787 flatbed but the a321 seats were a joke. No storage anywhere for the pillow, blanket and water bottle dumped on the seat. So of course they all went on the floor. No chance of sleep either given the upright seats 💺. The difference is chalk and cheese.
You should try the Saudi Airlines new First Class 777 - 300ER. It is the most improved airline of 2017. It went from having a 2-2-2 configuration in First Class to fully enclosed suites.
Thanks Dennis for the video. Ive tried all three big gulf airlines from Nairobi as I live there. Etihad and Qatar have this issue of the 320 that as you said in the video was bad for the 5h flight. This is why I fly emirates that uses the 777-300 to Nairobi. Next time you come definitely fly with emirates ! Keep up the good video's !
I went on this plane from Doha to Moscow, it was very small and efficient in my opinion. A classic plane, with very scarce sound. I enjoyed the five hour flight, even more than the Airbus. Great review Dennis!
Great video. I’m flying OTP to DOH tonight so wanted to do some research on what to expect. Fingers crossed I don’t an old bird like the one you flew on.
Great honest review Dennis ! You definatley have a valid point here; QR and EY are both excellent, but not fully competing with EK with their equipment of choice.
Great review. I think it's normal that they deploy narrow aircraft on routes with lower traffic. But I agree that this should reflect in the fare. On similar aircraft, European airlines would normally have 2x3 configuration and the middle seat is left empty.
Hey Dennis! Your reviews are really top class, the airlines really should listen to you! If you're ever in BCN and you want showing around let me know!
Thanks - been trying to find a way to do NZ but haven't yet. They only fly A320 all economy aircraft out of Adelaide but will be upgrading to a 787 in November and hope to fly that at some stage.
Very interesting video. I totally agree with your point about the experience on a smaller aircraft versus a widebody. I wouldn't be very happy with a seat like this on a medium-haul flight. Thanks for posting.
I found this same thing with American Airlines, from dub, if you fly to CLT you get a fab wide bodied business class, but fly to PHL and you end up on a narrow body, the price for these flights are similar. Then first in domestic was very small again!
Great video! I always love watching your videos. If you don't mind... what do you do that let's to travel all over the world? If you don't feel comfortable sharing, it's ok. I understand. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Thanks Curtis, I run a tour company (Bunnik Tours) and we do small group tours in about 50 different countries for Australian travelers. I'm lucky that I need to travel for work and get to see some amazing places.
Your right Dennis, I took Qatar from KUL to DOH to Kilimjaro and I had a beautiful 777-300ER biz class but then to Tanzania it was a A321 which I found out was a 6 hour flight from DOH. It was cramped but the service and food very good. But your right I paid for biz class all the way and return.
I had a similar experience last year on Emirates flying from Tunis to Nairobi (via Dubai). On the flight to Dubai, I forget what the plane was, but it was the normal business class with a fully flat seat and in seat entertainment. That flight is only about 5 hours and it left in mid-afternoon. The connecting flight to Nairobi left around 2 am and it was the A320 just like your flight - moderate recline, no in seat entertainment (they had iPads). And that flight is at least 6 if not 7 hours. I think my return flight to Dubai was on a wide body, so none of it made sense to me.
Always love your review, Dennis! Charging the same fare of two different product & service offering is definitely unacceptable. But that's what most airlines do to minimize cost on their less popular destination by using smaller aircraft.
Narrow body business class not bad on this flight. But I agree with commentary at the end, regarding comparing it with 4hr+ competitor offerings. But alas Airlines are revenue driven and demand dictates the product offered. Unfortunately, some cities are added for destination availability only. But Qatar do champion destinations like Perth (WA) for example early, with excellent service offering from the onset. And other Airlines finally try to follow, with mixed results eventually. This video was fair and unbiased. Keep up the good work.
This was a truly excellent review of this service. Last year I was excited to fly on Qatar Airway's A320 from Karachi to Doha yet they (not really sadly) upgraded the plane to an A330. I flew economy so I bet the service was the same. Thought it would be unique to fly on an "ME3" narrowbody aircraft.
Qatar, Etihad, Cathay, Emirates or Singapore Airlines are all excellent. check which one has the best connection and best fare to make the final choice.
Hey dennis. I love your videos and reviews. You seem like you spend some time in the Middle East region. Have you ever tried Middle East Airlines? It is the national carrier of my country, Lebanon. I never had the opportunity to fly with them and opinions are very mixed on the matter. So it would be nice to have an outsider's opinion concerning the national carrier. Thanks for your videos!
Can you imagine that KA's regional business class (something like the one in this video) also have 5 hours red eyes flight from Tokyo? Check KA397, the experience was despairing, and I even cannot find a good angle to sleep...
Hey Dennis. A great report again. I really enjoyed it. You are right, Qatar does not want to talk about this prodoct, for sure :D Nonetheless, it is in some manner better than most of the european business classes which just offer the normal economy class seats with the middle seat blocked. Furthermore, the meal is also much better on Qatar I suppose, compared to what I got on longer european flights for example on different airlines. Thumbs up and best regards from Munich!
Please note that their narrow body A320 indeed do have fully lie flat seats, so it was unlucky to be flying onboard a A 321. On the other hand, flying business class on European airlines is just a normal economy class seat with the centre seat left unoccupied. How would this feel?
A couple of months ago I had a similar experience flying business on a two leg flight, one approximately between 5 and 6 hours and the other 2 to 3 hours on a Boeing 757. All seats came with individual screens, however the front seats had their screen come out of arm rest between the seats and seemed to intrude in the other passengers space, and absolute disaster when paying business prices. The seats were very comfortable and leg room very good except for the front row which again was an an absolute disaster; I saw one passenger sitting with their feet on the wall in front higher than their head. All seats had tables that came out of the arm rests but unlike the 320 there was no room between the passenger and the table; just doesn't cut it todays standards. It was only the exemplary service by the cabin staff that saved the day.
Excellent video as always. Would not have expected Qatar to have such variation in services considering their flagship product is up there with the best
Very true and i agree with you 100%. Qatars service is excellent and the food is good. The only problem is that they are using small and "tight" aircraft for long distance flights eg Doha to Nairobi which is almost 6 hrs flight. From Stockholm to Doha, they use the modern "dreamliner" which is also takes the same amount of time in flight. I do not want to speculate about their business idea but I was disappointed from Doha to Nairobi and return. Such small planes are used in short flights like Stockholm to Amsterdam, 2hrs-50 min. In future I'll stick with KLM from Stockholm to Amsterdam then Boengs 777, 787 or 747 to Nairobi.
Hello Dennis, first let me tell you that i am a regular Platinium Qatar traveler and that i do trully enjoy you reviews. I wholeheartedly agree with you on this one, I regularly travel from Larnaca to Nairobi via Doha and this means to me:: old 320 Business class seat on both legs this is 4 hours from LCA then 2 hours in Doha (no time for a snooze) then another 6 hours of the same seat for Nairobi... I also think that this pretty thin from Qatar as these routes are charged to me the same price than a primium BC flown to a more busy destination (Such as Singapore for instance ). I am reaching the point now where since these flights are empty most of the time, where i just book eco super saver, and book a better hotel with the same trip budget. I think Qatar should consider this in their policy.... Just my two cents and thank you again for your greats reviews. I am still hoping that my path crosses yours one day on one of my trips !
Thanks Simon - yeah these old aircraft are a real issue for the routes you do and because they are not high traffic routes they charge more too!! Happy travels and hope to cross paths at an airport somewhere. cheers D
Fair comments Dennis. Value for money is key and carrier's think that most of the population will just accept this variation in standards of product. I guess they have received less complaints on the Doha to Athens, Nairobi, Helsinki & Moscow routes regarding the standard of aircraft and persist?
This was very well done by you ... I agree with you .... when it comes to qatar and their superb high tableware aboard the plane ... i always go with qatr verje when i go to thailand ... it has Have not been big trouble just going with qatar flights..a thing to ... When you arrive at the Bangkok airport ... then it's presonal and wait for anyone who has suitcases to show Qatar and wait so everyone has theirs BAGS IN THE HAND ... then they leave the place in BANGKOK AIRPORT .... This is what I call: "The best service you can get from Qatar flights .... / Thanks for me .MLB- Sweden!
It looks like a pretty good product. Although on an older planes the buiness class isn't so great. Hopefully Qatar modernise, improve and standardise their fleet in the future.
They do sometimes have to use an older model for different types of runways. When we were flying from Doha to Africa, we had to use a super old model for a 7 hour the flight the model was a lot smaller because the runway is not that big in Africa. So they do have to use smaller aircrafts for smaller runways. But I do agree that you shouldn't be paying the same price for buissness class on the a380 for the buissness class on an old plane where, like you said I'm the video, doesn't have good foot room if you recline without feet lol.
where exactly in Africa are you talking about, as far as i know all the major cities in africa have airports that can handle all aircrafts,..few can handle the a380,...see the Emirates network in Africa and they use 777-300ER,..the major airlines..Kenya airways, Ethiopian, South African, Egypt Air, air Maroc etc.
it's because "long and skinny route" kind of business model, Nairobi to Doha are wasting money if they use big plane such as 777, 787, A530, or A380 meanwhile those route only have a small demand. Even British Airways fly small A319 jet across the atlantic for long and skinny route since those plane are capable to fly transatlantic.
I completely agree with you. Although never flying on the more regional aircraft, Qatar definitely need to do more to 'even out the creases' In The differences between business models throughout their fleet. Qatar is supposed to be one of the most wealthy successful airlines, buying all these new aircraft and a new terminal to fit it. But why aren't the aircraft themselves being done up? It's about consistency. They have amazing flagship products but the smaller aircraft don't get as much care. Weird. Are they waiting for the likes of the neo's and the Max's to come out? Surely not as this would take so long to renew the entire fleet. Also, if they were to renew the interior, will they design a new product or replace with a modified correct version?
Great review Dennis & I'm with you on the issue of similar fares for an inferior product! It's just not right & I won't be travelling on one of these flights!
Hi, I watched the video, good to see your feedback. Doesnt the side handle open up for a screen, Most A320 with business class does. Just like your table for dinner, it pops up from the other hand rest.
I'd just get that main long haul flight to a big European hub using Qatar where all of the planes on that route will be the newer wide bodied planes and you're guaranteed that service you're paying for, And then just get a cheap Ryanair or equivalent flight to where you're going from there which would add an extra $20 to your cost and maybe 40 minutes to an hour but it's a lot more comfortable
I guess if they wanted to offer 12 lie flat seats in the A320 they would have to sacrifice two rows of economy class. Still I'm very much for offering a consistent product. In Emirates economy you have the choice between 10-abreast 380 (which is perfectly ok) and 10-abreast 777 (considerably narrower).
If they had enough passenger volume, they'd be flying widebodies. Clearly, they're using A320s on these routes because the volume is lower. Which would you prefer? Service or no service? You can't expect them to run widebodies on every route, else they'd always be flying with empty seats. If they were going to do that, they'd have to hugely increase the cost of tickets on these smaller routes to make it profitable. So, I guess it's up to you whether you want the airline to use planes that fit the volume of the route or charge you lots more money to fly a widebody plane that's half empty.
my sentiments exactly . why should they have 5 narrow bodied flights a day to nairobi. instead of 2 wide bodied flights a day? is africa the dumping site of the A320s??
ive flied both etihad and qatar airways they both have the same old A320s to nairobi..if i want to fly 777-200ER i have to book emirates which charges a premium for that
Great video Dennis. It's an important point you've raised and you'd be thoroughly annoyed if you had paid good money (or points) from Australia to get the second half of your journey (still 6hrs) to Europe in one of these narrow bodies. It would be as equally annoying as having your PER-SYD flight downgraded to a 737 from the regular A330s.
Thanks Paul, yeah it seems that the only airlines with any real consistency across their fleets are Emirates and Cathay. Whilst the Emirates 777 J is not as good as their A380 at least it's wide body. The other main disadvantage of these smaller aircraft is that you can't really get up and have a walk around or stretch your legs.
Agreed. Just don't get stuck with one of EK's few remaining 777s with the only 2-2-2 F layout (as I'm currently booked in for CAI-DXB in Oct). First world problems... :D
I'm only there for 24hrs to briefly explore, but primarily to catch cheap EK F (on QF numbers) flights back to Australia. :) I hope to visit it properly in the future, though, as it's a fascinating place (I was watching a SBS doco on Cleopatra just last night). Although I'm a little nervous about the security situation. Did you hint elsewhere that you do tours in Egypt?
The things you do to maintain Platinum! You've got to get down to Luxor and Aswan - amazing temples and the Nile is beautiful. Security is fine just make sure your airport transfers and accommodation is arranged in advance. I'd recommend the new Ritz Carlton - right next to the Egyptian Museum downtown. At least you'll get to see something and it's better than a bland airport hotel. email me on dennis@bunniktours.com.au if you need us to arrange - we've got an office Cairo. cheers D
you dont even have to ask why they operate such aircraft on those routes ! these small A/C are cheaper to operate on low load factor routes for Qatar airways
Dennis, on all the videos of yours that I have watched so far, you always chose a South Australian wine. Admirable, I'm an Aussie too. But I recommend that you try the Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte - quite a rare Graves wine available of Qatar, and any of the French sauternes. I know we can be a bit parochial as Australians, but there ARE great wines that DON'T come from South Australia.
True. It's difficult to go past a South Australian Shiraz for me however had some sensational Chilean, Argentinian and South African reds on my travels too. Not had much luck with the French stuff but will need to give it another go.
The only time I've take narrow body jet for long distance flights are in North America. Here it's 99% the case that you'd be on a narrow body jet for flights as long as 7 hours.

@@hanj31 you mean the disgusting 2-3-2 config? It’s absolutely terrible especially with that middle seat...

Still, better than BA's Club Europe!
Your flight reviews are detailed and informative, probably my favourite on RUclips, keep them coming!
A very professional review, although you do make the A320 sound like a DC-3. :-)
Scott Mathews I hate the A320, whenever I fly on one the business class is not up to scratch with the companies other planes business class
Scott Mathews both suggest a 20th century airline experience.
When you are paying around US$1700 one way from Nairobi to Doha in Business class, the A320 does feel like a DC-3. It's daylight robbery!
I really love how your videos are short but yet detailed. I have seen other reviewers and their videos are soooo long and I don’t have that kind of time on my hands. So I love your videos thanks for making them short yet very detailed
Short, informative, and honest reviews like yours are what makes me coming back for more. Keep it up!

I think that all planes should have individual entertainment systems because on flights above like 3 hours it gets very boring

There were LCD versions of the same idea a bit later (as seen in the video)
Then, at some point in the 2000's we got individual LCD screens, but everything was still on a schedule.
My Gmail Avianca has, in economy even! 😆
Very thorough review. A good point you made at the end about the inconsistency with Qatar Airways' business class.
Thanks Karl! You're right about the European carriers - I'm actually flying BA and AA in May so will be interesting to see how they go!
I liked the video before even watching it completely and I am here writing a review because I know it's gonna be again one of the best reviews on web.
Ankush Davesar o
I did the same for your comment! :-)
Zubair Mohammed quite a statement to make when you know next to nothing about a person.
Thanks!
Ralf
"This would be a great feature if you don't have feet..." Hahahaha! Getting better every time, Dennis!
Not sure why I watch these videos, but they do make me chuckle
Dennis, best bc reviews I’ve seen up here on you tube !
Hey Dennis I have been watching you for a while now and this channel is great hope to see you at 1 million subs one say😀😀
like this kind of reviews, very honest and informative, thanks mate!
So happy when I saw your new video posted. Totally agree with you. Malaysia Airlines too has lots of 737 and therefore having the same problem.
Best line of the video... "This would be a great feature, if you had no feet." Classic...
Hey Dennis! Your reviews are really top class, the airlines really should listen to you! If you're ever in BCN and you want showing around let me know!
Thanks! Love BCN - hope to visit again one day - will let you know.
Hi Dennis, love the videos. Is there a possibility of doing air New Zealand at some stage?
Great video! I love the way how you said the legrest is for people with no feet XD
Skipped desert?? I thought the calories dont count in Business Class!! lol
Just FYI they do offer flatbeds on some of the narrowbodies. Mainly for Europe and Moscow
Always love your review, Dennis! Charging the same fare of two different product & service offering is definitely unacceptable. But that's what most airlines do to minimize cost on their less popular destination by using smaller aircraft.
I see you went with the same title as the Etihad Video you did. That one just blew up with the views ! :)
Today saw most of Your Videos. & It's Fantastic. I feel as if CNN Business Traveller Anchor is doing the show. Hat's off to You.
Thought it would be unique to fly on an "ME3" narrowbody aircraft.
why do you get the mezze every flight
dennis im going to greece at the end of the year from melbourne who do you recommend for business class?
Qatar, Etihad, Cathay, Emirates or Singapore Airlines are all excellent. check which one has the best connection and best fare to make the final choice.
Hey dennis. I love your videos and reviews. You seem like you spend some time in the Middle East region. Have you ever tried Middle East Airlines?
It is the national carrier of my country, Lebanon. I never had the opportunity to fly with them and opinions are very mixed on the matter. So it would be nice to have an outsider's opinion concerning the national carrier. Thanks for your videos!
Thanks Elie, haven't flown with MEA yet or been to Lebanon - heard there are lots of great things to see there so it's definitely on my list.
Hi Dennis, as always an honest and assertive perspective on the joys of airline travel
safe travels :-)
I agree even if demand is not high enough to use wide body aircraft at least have some narrow body with lie flat seats.
Great video.
I especially love it because it is from my hometown of NAIROBI!!!!!!
Thanks, I love Kenya
Can you imagine that KA's regional business class (something like the one in this video) also have 5 hours red eyes flight from Tokyo? Check KA397, the experience was despairing, and I even cannot find a good angle to sleep...
thanx for your great Video Report!
A couple of months ago I had a similar experience flying business on a two leg flight, one approximately between 5 and 6 hours
and the other 2 to 3 hours on a Boeing 757.
All seats came with individual screens, however the front seats had their screen come out of arm rest between the seats and
seemed to intrude in the other passengers space, and absolute disaster when paying business prices.
The seats were very comfortable and leg room very good except for the front row which again was an an absolute disaster; I saw
one passenger sitting with their feet on the wall in front higher than their head.
All seats had tables that came out of the arm rests but unlike the 320 there was no room between the passenger and the table;
just doesn't cut it todays standards.
I agree with you absolutely. By the way: You should clean your notebook-display before "action". I got the same problem while travelling.
Not even the average hobbit could fit their hairy feet into that space with the foot rest extended
quite a different experience that Josh Cahill experienced on the A320 of Qatar from Doha to Prague
Can't imagine paying Qatar's prices for a seat and experience like that! Any chance you'll be reviewing Delta One anytime soon?
awesome video Dennis.Cant wait for more
This was very well done by you ...
But I do agree that you shouldn't be paying the same price for buissness class on the a380 for the buissness class on an old plane where, like you said I'm the video, doesn't have good foot room if you recline without feet lol.
where exactly in Africa are you talking about, as far as i know all the major cities in africa have airports that can handle all aircrafts,..few can handle the a380,...see the Emirates network in Africa and they use 777-300ER,..the major airlines..Kenya airways, Ethiopian, South African, Egypt Air, air Maroc etc.
great review, non biased
5:15 and those 2 Women walk past like.... 'Okayyyyyy......'
it's because "long and skinny route" kind of business model, Nairobi to Doha are wasting money if they use big plane such as 777, 787, A530, or A380 meanwhile those route only have a small demand.
Even British Airways fly small A319 jet across the atlantic for long and skinny route since those plane are capable to fly transatlantic.
Thanxs for the update
Thanks for the info!
Great review Dennis & I'm with you on the issue of similar fares for an inferior product!
It's just not right & I won't be travelling on one of these flights!
Another honest review. Thank you!
Love the video...and the 50fps rocks.
The seats and cabin look like premium economy to me - would be very disappointed to pay business class fare for that. Thanks for the video.
I love your intro music!
Shrihan Atluri I loev youe intro music! Ahriham atluri +2
months ango
I guess if they wanted to offer 12 lie flat seats in the A320 they would have to sacrifice two rows of economy class.
Still I'm very much for offering a consistent product. In Emirates economy you have the choice between 10-abreast 380 (which is perfectly ok) and 10-abreast 777 (considerably narrower).
Wow, the flight from London is on the new dreamliner - and business class is amazing. I'm surprised they fly such small planes from Australia.
That aussie accent is so prominent, i love it !!!!!! 🙈❤️👌
wow you always pop up in the most interesting places ... I'd love to know what you do for work 😊
I run a tour company so travel is my work :)
Oh that sounds amazing mate... thanks for the reply 😊 your travels and company must be amazing
Emirates uses 777s !!!
So why does Qatar fly 3 times daily from Nairobi if they have low volume?
my sentiments exactly
. why should they have 5 narrow bodied flights a day to nairobi. instead of 2 wide bodied flights a day?
is africa the dumping site of the A320s??
ive flied both etihad and qatar airways they both have the same old A320s to nairobi..if i want to fly 777-200ER i have to book emirates which charges a premium for that
The feet part made me laugh out loud 😂
im assuming its because its a shorter flight. but they shouldn't charge as much
Great video Dennis.
True! What are you doing in Cairo? Exploring the rest of Egypt? One of my favourite countries.
Never had a bad flight on Qatar. If they are so bad don't fly them.
They are way better than their European counter parts
The only time I've take narrow body jet for long distance flights are in North America. Here it's 99% the case that you'd be on a narrow body jet for flights as long as 7 hours.
