If you were asking, this ride works by the whole room being on an axis that spins. The whole room around you spins. Your seating, however, is on another axis that spins against the direction of the room, giving you the sensation you are moving, instead of the room. Your seating, however, doesn't tilt much at all- it is only for the feeling it provides.

According to TV Tropes, the root face under the floor is the result of the experiments. Apparently he accidentally ended up creating ANOTHER cursed tree.
A few points: 1. Yes there is an oak tree wrapped in chains (look for the chained oak pub) 2. I highly doubt that the earl took the branch back to the castle 3. One of the best optical illusions I have ever seen.
It's been too long since I've been on this ride. Changing that next Thursday, thanks to my free Sun tickets. Best ride theme in the park. In fact, I think this is the best themed ride at the park.

@ridemaster101 It was actually left derilict for 100 years then converted into an army training camp and then bought by Pearsons Lesure who in turn were bought by Tussauds which were bought by DIC and then Tussauds were bought by Merlin and then the Towers were bought by Nick Lesalu who leases the towers to Merlin.

My brothers and I went on this they were going on about how shit this was and when the ride finished they were totally fucked up and saying it was a spinner
When I went to Thorpe Park I stayed at the hotel and the women at the gift shop in the hotel was telling me about how the tree still stands and how the story is true and the tree is still there chained up, which freaked me out a little but also was quite cool
True. The first time you ride it, you notice that it actually looks like it flips you upside-down. Yet, if the ride really did that, it'd be a copy of Ripsaw, most likely. And, they'd use Shoulder Harnesses for Safety. When I rode it, my hair was kinda long, and when it was tilting and going upside down, everyone noticed my hair was just dropping forward and straight. That's when everyone noticed. xD So, HEX doesn't flip you upside down, yet it feels like it.
the chained oak true is true the ledgend is true but sadly The ride Hex - the Legend of the Towers at the theme park Alton Towers is based on a fanciful elaboration of this legend. thats from wikipedia but still an awesome tune and ride
