My Dad and I enjoyed that movie. On a sad note, It was the last time I was in theaters with him before he passed away. Can’t think of a better movie of 2021 to watch with my Dad in theaters
One of the biggest blunders in Disney history is that not only did they not wait until AFTER the pandemic ended the next year to release this absolute TOP TIER movie, but that they didn’t green light a sequel immediately!!!
The part where Wenwu responds to the old man by saying, "Be careful how you speak to me, young man. I've lived ten of your lifetimes." What Wenwu actually told the old man was, "I have tasted more salt than you have eaten rice." - something close to that. For me, I think that line is more powerful because it emphasizes how old Wenwu is. Like the guy is ROUGHLY as old as Thor.
I really like this movie and all the characters, plus you got the origin story. Biggest laugh I got was at the end with Wong, ORrrrrrr..... 🤣 and Kristen missed it. Every time Wong shows up they make me love him even more.
In iron man when Tony is kidnapped, the ten rings are mentioned (in a news report I think) in iron man 3 Trevor plays the mandarin and he speaks about it in this movie when he talks about going to prison and getting clean. Shang’s father also mentions the mandarin being his alias. Plus there’s Wong from doctor strange. As much as this is a great stand alone movie, it’s also intertwined with the MCU that we’ve seen before.
That part where Trevor "goes to prison" exists as well 😂 it's a short film called "All Hail the King", from 2014, Justin Hammer from Iron Man 2 is also in it 😂 Marvel used to do a bunch of those short films that tied into the wider MCU back in the day, they were awesome 😂 [Edit: it's actually on youtube along with some of the others, if anyone wants to watch them]
I love how much you enjoy these. It really reminds me that we've gotten so picky over the years and complain that it's not as good as the last one or the old ones. There's a lot to love with these movies and Kristen totally helps shine that light on these newer ones for me.
Yes Shang-Chi 🙌🏾🔥 And the coolest that Simu really can fight. For Asians this was our first stand alone Marvel movie heroe in the MCU 🙌🏾 Can't wait when he is back on screen with the Avengers.

The fight scenes in this film are more like dances, marvel did an incredible job of capturing the art and spirit of martial arts movies from back in the day 😊
This movie does have a lot in it to make it MCU-ish. It has the Ten Rings organization, the main lead has a great body physique, and even Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3 makes an appearance. But aside from all that, it’s so amazing that this is the first time Martial Arts was introduced in the MCU. Someone: What about that Finn Jones Iron Fist show? Yeah, like I said. I heard from a few people from China that watched this that the mythical creatures are actually from Chinese mythology and were represented accurately. Morris was based on a creature that inspired the creation of wontons.
What I loved about this movie is that it's not an "Asian" movie. It's a beautiful, tragic father/son story with characters who just happen to be Asian.
Awkwafina is one of the best parts of this movie. She brings the best comedy to the film. Shang-Chi was first published in Marvel comics back in 1973. Originally, he was the son of Fu Manchu. Shang teamed up with his father's enemies to take down his criminal empire.
Also Kristen while I agree the beginning they Father was an evil man even maybe while hunting for they mothers killer. But by the end it was grief and pain. Just rage guiding his actions. When your blinded completely by rage and pain and you have what seems like a way out you'd stop at nothing to make it go away no?.

Genuinely my favourite of the more recent MCU films, specifically because it didn't feel like one. Just a great magical martial arts action film overall
This is a fun one. 🙂 Honestly my favorite fight in the whole movie is the bus brawl in the beginning, it’s like a homage to a Jackie Chan style scene. Lots of great choreography, not too overtop with special effects, and just showing off a ton of skill. Don’t get me wrong, the CGI fight at the end is cool, but I kind of wish the movie had stayed a bit more at that bit more grounded level, the special effects later on almost get in the way of the martial arts that are really the heart and soul of the action. The "I LOVE THIS!!" to the big wuxia moment of the film tells me one thing : you NEED to watch "crouching, tiger hidden dragon" "House of Flying Daggers" and "Hero" if you never saw them. Really really really ^^
I wish we'd gotten more of Shang-Chi and Katie along with his sister too. What I do think is a shame is Simu Liu plays more of a straight man role to Awkwafina's comedic relief but his real life personality is super fun and charming, I would've been more happy to see some of that in his character of Shang-Chi too. Him and Awkwafina are hilarious when together irl.
Did you guys watch the animated Transformers one? Yeah only show a clip watching the ending when you guys were going to start watching Transformers rise of the beasts.
😁👍👍 I wish they'd shrink the ten rings down into finger-size rings by the end when Shang-Chi uses them ... I think the rings in the comics are smaller. Tony Leung (the father) is an international movie star, since 80s/90s; he was interviewed and he said he made up a lot of his ring fight moves as he was just imagining them there when they were filming ... he applied his past martial arts movie sense given his fair share of martial arts movie making experiences, although Tony has not really been recognized as a martial artist - he has done a lot of drama / rom-com movies in the last few decades! 😁
My heart hurts that Kristen didn't recognize Trevor (Ben Kingsley) as the same character from Iron Man 3 or the name "Mandarin".

The "I LOVE THIS!!" to the big wuxia moment of the film tells me one thing : you NEED to watch "crouching, tiger hidden dragon" "House of Flying Daggers"
and "Hero" if you never saw them.
Really really really ^^
I'm surprised Simu Liu isn't in this comments section. He seems to be everywhere Shang Chi is playing lol
18:57 I love the eyes/face 😂😂
May I suggest “Bullet Train” for a future reaction
I wish we'd gotten more of Shang-Chi and Katie along with his sister too. What I do think is a shame is Simu Liu plays more of a straight man role to Awkwafina's comedic relief but his real life personality is super fun and charming, I would've been more happy to see some of that in his character of Shang-Chi too. Him and Awkwafina are hilarious when together irl.
Kristen + Marvel= A fun time
Aonuma loved this movie and was thinking about it when developing tears of the kingdom, no doubt.
The trailer to this movie was 🔥
I remember when this came out 💀😭 SHANG CHI MEETS CAPTAIN AND BRUCE
Did you guys watch the animated Transformers one? Yeah only show a clip watching the ending when you guys were going to start watching Transformers rise of the beasts.
This is one of the best marvel movies after endgame and it was completely forgotten because it was released in a bad time for the world.
she looks waaaay better in brown hair luv it
I just realize that Kristen is wearing her own Rings 😅
11:12 Kristen this is our guy we know him
Me: WONGERS!!!!!!
Kristen is adorable!😁
Good movie, yes another Kristen movie reaction, the fights with the rings is amazing, the good and bad dragon have a really good desing
The mom’s fighting style is more like Tai Chi. It is not “fighting “ style, but more honing/meditation - focus on breathing.
Sorry, totally unrelated, but Kristen, your hair looks AMAZING ❤
😁👍👍
I wish they'd shrink the ten rings down into finger-size rings by the end when Shang-Chi uses them ...
Kristen is just mesmerizing 😍
shang chi while flawed, was one of the better movies that came out post endgame
❤❤❤ your reaction from all the way from🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
