    Just popping in here 4 years on, and this is just the defining moment for you Joey. The fact you "toasted" so well and had the courage to give it a go, has led you to where you are now. And the utter joy in your voice when it turned on made this for me.

    After a bit of a sort out , I found my lads Ds lite which had a broken hinge and funny coloured top screen along with a broken d pad. After taking it apart a few times And putting it back together to learn, I think I messed up the top screen ribbon more as the speakers stopped working. Got my replacement top screen coming in 2 days, along with a new shell, already fixed the dpad and got new hinge so… I’ll be doing soldering for the first time soon ha

    • @JoeyDoesTech
      @JoeyDoesTech  2 года назад

      Ayeeee good to hear though Lee! How did you find taking it apart etc? Can be quite fiddly especially if it’s the first thing you’re working on. Let me know how the soldering goes :)

    Bravo from another Joey! I am also wanting to start this up as a hobby because it looks like so much fun and satisfying. I don't really have much soldering experience but I've taken apart things to fix plenty of times in the past. I enjoy your beginner view because I will be in the same boat once i actually am able to start whenever i get a device to work on hopefully someday soon. My only beginner recommendation would maybe be dabbing just a tad of flux on the solder points when attaching the wires because a couple of them look a little cloudy versus nice and shiny since the flux burned off when tinning the pads. That could also be the camera but I'm not sure and also like I said I'm also a beginner with just video watching experience. All in all I'm enjoying your videos. The editing is pretty sweet and you're pretty funny so I get a good laugh when watching. What video edit software do you use?

    • @JoeyDoesTech
      @JoeyDoesTech  4 года назад +1

      Thanks man, really appreciate it. Flux is definitely one of the things on my list, it was just understanding what it was at first as I had no idea 😂
      I use Sony Vegas at the moment.

      @@JoeyDoesTech do you have the free version of Vegas? I'm not sure if it's just a trial or what haven't looked into it. But....I did just pick up a DS Lite that needs a new game cart slot so I'm going to get my feet wet now whether I want to or not lol and I want to video it and upload it to my channel, maybe start a new channel.

      @@JoeyDoesTech no problem also my first ds refurbishment was converting a black ds lite with a cracked hinge I replaced the shell with a gold zelda shell which looked nice but in the process I broke the top screen em10 charging coil and the touch screen I was gutted and left it on my shelf for months and finally when I got the courage to try fix it again I got a new top screen touch screen and em10 and it was a success so I'm planning on buying another ds lite and converting it to a clear shell to boost my confidence and try get better at fixing them since my first time was a nightmare I absolutely love your channel your videos are so inspirational I have been subscribed for a while now and I genuinely enjoy your content keep up the amazing work

    A tip from me what i do when soldering in little technical parts: first put the solder on the tip of the soldering iron, and then gently put it on the things you want to solder together.

    • @ylondes9927

      Lol that's a diffrent story. Iphone's arn't really reparable. Nintendo give's you the option (or make's it easyer) to repair your system. Though Iphone is kinda greedy and make's the customer's pay for the repair cause it's so hard to repair. You really gotta know a lot bout electronic's to repair an iphone.
