Even then I remember everyone was afraid of a terrorist attack. I kept my journey here a secret from my family so they wouldn't try and stop me. When I returned home, I told them I had been in Times Square. My mother was really pissed... that I didn't let her join me! 😂

Thank you for sharing. i was 20 years old in Stockholm, Sweden. We had the Internet back then, but I bet you couldn't possibly imagine the bandwidth ever being good enough to watch 30 minute videos on. 😂
Awesome video my dude! You captured a fine moment in NYC when NYC was still somewhat respected and when Rudy was still mayor! Also nice seeing the other countries honored on the big screen!
Fun fact: the song played at the gmt+2 (7 hours to go) countdown is a lost media, it's known that is from Charles B. Kim, but once I read that only the composer has it at $2500. To conclude, there is no way to find it on the internet, this was the first and last time this song was ever played.
I remember staying up to watch the ball drop with my family & being confused when the New Year came, but nothing happened. We were all told the world was going to end 😂
27:41 Boy! The NYC Sanitation Department sure had a lot work cut out for them if they were to get Times Square and the Theater District cleaned up and sanitized before the sun rose later that morning.
Compared with today the late 90's seem like a dream world... like a beautiful dream world which is lost forever and only lives on in our memories and hearts. 2020-24 seems like a nightmare compared to this beautiful footage and not just because of the pandemic, the inflation or the war in Ukraine, in general!!!! In a way the entire Western world, not just the USA, never recovered from 9/11 and is in decline since then.
I was in NYC for New Year’s Eve 1999. Sadly, the closest I got to Times Square was around 58th Street/Central Park South, up to Central Park. It was well over a million revelers there for a historical moment. Nowadays, I simply just watch it on TV every year. I don’t like crowds.
Were all these songs playing at Time Square? I was surprised to hear Muggsy Spanier's "I Want a Big Butter and Eggman" (the Traditional Jazz tune) in the 23 minute area. Or were some tunes edited in?
This is the best crowd view I've seen for the 2000 ball drop!
We are in the 2000 new era! Now from 2024, there's 24 years of 2000 after 1999!!!
They were going very crazy of the beginning of the 2000s!
yes is it?
