On New Year's Eve 1999, I was in Finland! I remember when the 2000s started, but then I drove back to Sweden which meant that I drove back into the 20th century
I remember sitting in my bedroom watching this as it happened. It was amazing to see the whole world celebrating the same thing. I even turned down a trip to the store with my parents that day. My mom asked if I wanted to go, and I said, "No thanks. This is too interesting and I don't want to miss it." For one day, it seemed as if the whole world was at peace.
I felt the same way and did the same thing. I was so full of awe and hope and felt so connected to other people and the world. I loved it all -- from the islanders welcoming 2000 with music and dance to the major urban fireworks. It's now summer of 2022, and yeah, that feeling is gone, gone, gone. Nice while it lasted, though.
Seeing some of the most Ancient Cultures and Civilizations celebrating the new millennium made made cry so hard. So majestic, fascinating, fantastic and pure amazing. It brought me serious goosebumps as well.

Everybody had a certain level of innocence, curiosity, and optimism in their eyes. All that was lost about a year after the new millennium that changed our world forever.

I bought the VHS version of this documentary when it came out 20 years ago, and I watched the LIFE out of it! So much so that it was unhealthy and I'm surprised at how well I still know all the worldwide celebrations. I last watched that VHS tape on New Year's Eve 2009 (10 years ago today) and I just watched it again today on New Year's Eve 2019. I probably will not watch this again until New Year's Eve 2029. I was 9 aswell at this time, in Adelaide, I remember a massive street party, the entire neighbourhood was partying, I had glow sticks and sparklers with the other kids on the street, while the adults were drinking and singing! It's a great memory ❤

I was 13 at the time, it was incredibly optimistic!! And we had all this new technology and the internet had just became accessible!! It seemed like it was gonna be a very bright future!

I was 13 and I knew what a monumental event it was to have the number in the thousands column of the year change from a 1 to a 2. The feeling was very special to have lived through that.

Just a little 9 year old in Queensland, Australia, who had asked my mum to wake me up just before the countdown. She fell asleep! I was jolted awake by the countdown anyway
I was 9 aswell at this time, in Adelaide, I remember a massive street party, the entire neighbourhood was partying, I had glow sticks and sparklers with the other kids on the street, while the adults were drinking and singing! It's a great memory ❤
I was also 9 that time lol I was inside the house when my uncles and cousins were playing with fireworks. I remember they lit firecrackers at the middle of the road.
I wasn't born yet. I'm happy I was born in the late 20th century. I'm happy with life and I love life.
when the fireworks glare and the auld lang syne plays it gives me goosebumps. This never gave me that same feel when I was 9 because I stayed at home waiting for the y2k bug scare to be true lol But that New Year's eve must be the most awesome thing and I'm proud that I was already alive then.

I was 18 years old and was nice time/ memories . it never comes again

So many hopes and dreams duerimg that time the world for people felt exciting it felt like a new begining and then not 12 months later something would happen that changed the entire world forever suddenly we didnt feel so safe and happy

why is it I get so emotional watching this I was 9 years old I wish I had ben older during this so I could realize how big a thing this was my 9 year old mind didn't think of it as a new millennia. I wish I could have experienced it actually.. I always feel like I missed out. at least I was alive during it though.

definitely remember on how excited i that got the year 2000 when the Rio Grande Valley in the state of Texas was about to get into the new millennium and i was only 8 years old back then especially when we finally got into Saturday January 1st 2000 this show was some awesome fun times back then when we were all worried about Y2K thank goodness it didn't happen and now it's 21 years later we are about to go into 2022 so happy New Year everybody
