Interesting that if you want o go from Paddington to Farringdon you can take the oldest or the newest. Elizabeth Line also goes from Paddington to Whitechapel, as did the Post Office Railway.

On the Metropolitan line, you are missing North Harrow and Northwood Hills. And left Pinner as Pinner and Hatch End. Only noticed as I’m a Met driver 😅

The North London Line was on the London Underground Map on and off in the 1980s/1990s, and Thameslink has appeared at different times and sections, along with the northen city line segment even with the BR logo on it (but not from memory extended beyond Finsbury Park)

And Uxbridge Met Line was never called Vine Street. That was the GWR extension from West Drayton which closed in early 1960s.

Awesome video! Although please rename it something like "Evolution of the London Tube 1863-2022", the current title isn't very appealing :(

I’ve been working on one of these for a while now using Douglas Rose’s map. Might as well scrap the project now! ☹️. There’s an error at the very beginning on this one. Hammersmith branch was opened before the Addison Road one. It’s impossible to get everything right due to lost records etc.

There are loads of errors in the map.
On the Central line, it still says Holborn is called "Holborn (Kingsway)," and Chancery Lane is still called "Chancery Lane (Grays Inn)."
On the District line, you forgot Stamford Brook.
On the H&C line, it says that Goldhawk Road, Shepherd's Bush Market, Great Portland Street, and Aldgate East is only served by the line itself, when really the stations are also serves by the Circle, the Met, and the District lines.
On the Jubilee line, you forgot Queensbury.
On the Met line, you forgot Preston Road, Northwick Park, North Harrow, and Northwood Hills. And Pinner is still called "Pinner & Hatch End", Chalfont & Latimer is still called "Chalfont Road", and Uxbridge was never called "Uxbridge Vine Street." It was a GWR extension that went up from West Drayton to Uxbridge Vine Street station, which is now closed.
On the Northern line, you forgot Brent Cross.
On the Picadilly line, Oakwood is still called "Enfield West (Oakwood)," and the line also has a connection to Turnham Green on the District line. At Acton Town, there is no connector blob, and it's just there as a name.
On the London Overground, Bushey is still called "Bushey & Oxhey", and it appears that you put "Loughborough Junction" on the South London line, but it's on Thameslink, not on the Overground, and you forgot Shepherd's Bush on the Overground.
Some stations do appear to have no tick, like South Ealing on the Piccadilly line, or Stratford High Street on the DLR.
Woolwich Arsenal on the DLR and Woolwich on the Elizabeth line seem to be further apart than they actually are, cause you can just walk 5 minutes between those 2 stations.
You also forgot that some stations now have National Rail. Stations like Peckham Rye, Hayes & Harlington, Watford Junction, etc have connector blobs to show that they have National Rail, but some stations like Slough, Balham, Brixton, Stratford International, etc don't.
Please tell me if you spotted more errors or if you think I found all the errors.

It's interesting to see that they were still constructing lines in world wars 1&2. Also during the depressions of 1921 and 1930 - tho perhaps they were government funded infrastructure employment schemes, which is a sensible strategy ?

  • @MannyAntipov
    @MannyAntipov 2 года назад +3

There's a considerable amount of errors in the map - there has been a lot of name-changing over the years to each tube station, I can only see it for a handful of them but not all of them have been covered (e.g. Croxley Green when opened, later Croxley). Pinner seems to be non-existant. The Metropolitan Stanmore branch is at an awkward angle. Disgraceful.
