You are completely within your rights to dispute the money they are trying to charge you for cleaning etc, bottom line is the house should have never been let to you or anyone else for that matter. It was unsuitable for rental and if anyone is to blame it’s them x
I am not a lawyer, but it would seem to me that the estate agents put you in a rental home that was not inhabitable(damp, mold, etc). Those issues were a detriment to all your health and probably caused you all undue health issues which caused trips to healthcare professionals and in some cases medications, keeping you from working, probably more than the 400 figure you noted. Would they want you to take them to court or let the 400 figure disappear from your parting ways with their moldy, damp home? Good luck! Hoping and praying you prevail! 😊❤
I kind of agree with you here. Everything they have described so far strikes me as the management company knew about the issues and covered it up and then are trying to charge them to cover it back up. I doubt they could get £400 in court after all the evidence of the damp, mold and mice. That doesn’t just show up in a few months.

It’s still going to be there and might even make it harder for people who move it to find where it’s coming from. It is also a farm house it’s bound to have field nice or other small rodents. Conor and liana cannot be blamed for that! Just my opinion. Love watching your channel, but when you not using your van in the winter use steele wool in all the holes put dryer sheets in drawers on your bed and take everything out the van when your not using it toys koazy's stuffies . that should help .love u guys.
I moved into a house similar to what you went through. When we did the look around no damp, no mould, but freshly painted. The cellar wasn't damp either, within weeks of moving in. Mould and damp started appearing, like Connor I'm asthmatic, I was also pregnant. I was ill all the time, nothing we did worked. We moved just after little one was born, but it was a nightmare, you could smell it as soon as you opened the door. How they hid it for the showings, amazes me xxx

I lived in a place with hidden mold and was hospitalized before we found what was making me ill. I had Doctor's notes from 2 different ones stating that I could no longer live there due to black mold. Interestingly enough, my neighbour beside me had the same problem and had the air quality tested. They gave me a copy of the results and I disputed the outrageous fact that the building owners said I had abandoned my apartment and still had to pay for a years rent. I hired the same lawyer that my neighbour had used and knew they didn't have a case. Then The Law Society of Upper Canada went on strike and nobody knew when it would end. I was going to see this to the end but my Dad stepped in and paid for the remaining 10 months rent. I was furious with him for doing that but I couldn't do anything about it. I would definitely bring it up with a rental association if you have one in the UK. It's not fair, they should pay for all your medical bills related to the mould and damp, the moving fees to relocate to your new home, the time and suffering from the whole ordeal and they(old real estate) should absorb all the fees in regarding the cleaning of old home. We have a camper and when we winterize it and put it up for winter I pack all bedding, towels, dishes, pots, pans, silverware in big plastic totes because we usually find mouse droppings under the bathroom vanity. We have spray foamed expanding insulation around the drain pipe, put steel wool around it, dumped a whole bottle of peppermint extract around pipe and one still comes in every year. I don't find evidence of mice anywhere else so at least it is only in one place!
Have a look for local tenancy dispute services. Im from NZ so dont know how that works in the UK but im sure there will be someone to help you. Get copies of bills for all doctors appointments for the 3 of you for things that could have been caused or exacerbated by the house. Get a letter written by your doctor to state the Koazys rash, Lianas dermatitis, colds, coughs, Connors vertigo, anything you can think of could have been caused or exacerbated by the cold, damp conditions. Mice can get in the smallest hole. Size of a dime easily. Their skeletal structure allows them to squeeze wherever they want. Sink is fine you can buy a replacement part. All Last winter we had at least one mouse in our van. It was quite cold and very deep snow, at least 3.5 feet and often deeper. Melt them more snow. We had record breaking snow fall.
I'd contact a lawyer and give them all the paperwork and expenses you incurred. And document what your neighbor said. I hope they fix everything before they rent it out
I'm so sorry you keep having issues. Just so you know mice can collapse their entire bodies so can fit through any gap their nose can fit through. Also their gestation period is 2 weeks. Peppermint essential oil on cotton wool does help to keep them out. Had the same problem (in a shared house) for almost a year now, once saw one go under my door, I can't even get my finger under it.
Mice don’t like peppermint, I soak cotton wool balls in peppermint oil and leave them in prime spots in my van in the winter when not in use! Works a treat 👍🏻

Here in the states they like to crawl in to where the engine is because it's the warmest spot and maybe the reason why the battery was dead because it chewed the wires.❤❤❤❤ Do the cats not actually hunt mice there? Your people often times have cats on property so that they chase and catch mice. If it's a rat however it can chew through anything that's metal and get in.
Their cats are house cats so no help there for the van. Also they lived in a country house. Lots of open space (England has lots of fields) so even cats from nearby probably wouldn't find them. But cats here are more known for bringing in birds.

I cleaned from ceiling to floor, had carpets cleaned and sprayed for fleas (pet exit requirement) if there was something to be cleaned, I did it. I don’t know how it is in the UK but here they need to show receipts and prove that it is going to be that expensive. hey Liana , Connor and little koazy, love your videos, so sorry to see you had a visitor in the van, a little tip make sure you take all items including food out of the van that can come out and fill the holes ie sink etc to block any visitors coming in. as for the house situation it might be worth getting advice from a solicitor, make sure to keep photos if you have them from they day you moved in up till recent as this can go for evidence if needed and may help with settling the issue with the estate agents. good luck

im sure this is well late now, but for mouse traps, you need to put them parallel to the wall, and right up to it, as mice generally don't see very well and go around the perimeter.
That is why, even though the agents do a "condition report" the first thing I do before moving my stuff in is to take pictures with date and time so that when this happens I am able to take my evidence to VCAT (the organisation s that settles these sorts of disputes). This is THE most common way agents get their money 😢 I would also be taking all the receipts from the attempts to rid the place of mould, also the reports made about the condition of the house made by professionals. I would be counter arguing that the agents rented you a substandard property. I hope you have a VCAT equivalent over in the UK. Oh, random side note, I'm adopted and when I found out about my parents I am apparently 1/2 British on my mum's side. Which is kinda spooky I used to tell kids when I was little that my name was Michelle and I was from England. Then when I got my pre adoption records I found my mum was a fresh (in the 1960's) off the boat Brit, and my pre adoption name was Michele!!!!! There's not just A MOUSE, There's a family of mice guys! That's how they do... you have to scrub EVERY ITEM IN THERE IF YOU KEEP IT! They carry diseases and pee as they walk bc they don't have bladders that hold urine so it just comes out when there is something to come out. THIS IS HORRIFIC NEWS I'M AFRAID, bc even though there was bedding and covers on things in the garage part... that stuff has to be disinfected so thoroughly that the job will take A LOT OF EXTREME MEASURES TO TRULY GET IT CLEAN AGAIN!

Do they use asbestos in the UK? In an old home like that I'd be sure there was none of that getting dislodged during all the havoc of your time in that home as illness from asbestos is insanely serious and doesn't show up for years and years. cover the sink hole with a plug, to stop a mouse coming up the drain...especially when not using the van and the pipes are dry.
Second this! Plug any holes, drains, vents etc. And a mouse trap or two never hurts. The little one way boxes for humane release work well!
It only takes a crack! Moth balls when you close it up and use metal scouring pads in all the pipes and cracks.

I’ve had issues with landlords charging way to much for cleaning and painting. I don’t know how it is in the UK but here they need to show receipts and prove that it is going to be that expensive. They end up charging me less after having to show receipts, since the prices didn’t make sense. So might be worth it if you want go at it with them.

hey Liana , Connor and little koazy, love your videos, so sorry to see you had a visitor in the van, a little tip make sure you take all items including food out of the van that can come out and fill the holes ie sink etc to block any visitors coming in. as for the house situation it might be worth getting advice from a solicitor, make sure to keep photos if you have them from they day you moved in up till recent as this can go for evidence if needed and may help with settling the issue with the estate agents. good luck

im sure this is well late now, but for mouse traps, you need to put them parallel to the wall, and right up to it, as mice generally don't see very well and go around the perimeter.

That is why, even though the agents do a "condition report" the first thing I do before moving my stuff in is to take pictures with date and time so that when this happens I am able to take my evidence to VCAT (the organisation s that settles these sorts of disputes). This is THE most common way agents get their money 😢 I would also be taking all the receipts from the attempts to rid the place of mould, also the reports made about the condition of the house made by professionals. I would be counter arguing that the agents rented you a substandard property. I hope you have a VCAT equivalent over in the UK. Oh, random side note, I'm adopted and when I found out about my parents I am apparently 1/2 British on my mum's side. Which is kinda spooky I used to tell kids when I was little that my name was Michelle and I was from England. Then when I got my pre adoption records I found my mum was a fresh (in the 1960's) off the boat Brit, and my pre adoption name was Michele!!!!! And, yes, that's how she spelt it....why.....she couldn't remember the correct spelling 😂😅😂😅😂😅😂

There's not just A MOUSE, There's a family of mice guys! That's how they do... you have to scrub EVERY ITEM IN THERE IF YOU KEEP IT! They carry diseases and pee as they walk bc they don't have bladders that hold urine so it just comes out when there is something to come out. THIS IS HORRIFIC NEWS I'M AFRAID, bc even though there was bedding and covers on things in the garage part... that stuff has to be disinfected so thoroughly that the job will take A LOT OF EXTREME MEASURES TO TRULY GET IT CLEAN AGAIN!

Do they use asbestos in the UK? In an old home like that I'd be sure there was none of that getting dislodged during all the havoc of your time in that home as illness from asbestos is insanely serious and doesn't show up for years and years. So if any was there and they knew about it, absolute lawsuit among all the rest.
