Wow! I need one of those pins: "Vintage style not vintage values". It never occurred to me to think about who had a hand in making clothes from the past.

I am so very glad I found your videos concerning "VINTAGE" and all that it entails about history and especially our people - I am a woman of color who just happens to enjoy wearing vintage every day and restyling/recreating clothing into vintage styles - "IT'S MY FASHION PASSION"

Thank you for yet another very well made video! I'm not American myself, so my country's black history is ofc different, but I try to keep up with American black history and black social issues too, because well racism is racism no matter the country, and ofc America has always been a big influence to other countries, so the attitudes and trends from over there often trickle down to other countries in many ways. This video was as I said very well made, and powerful and even poetic (or maybe charismatic is the word I'm looking for) on top of that.

    FunFact about Black history:
Jazz musician August Agbola O’Brown fought in Warsaw Uprising in 1944 side by side with Poles. It's actually really amazing that something like that happend.

Omg I already loved your Instagram content but had not had time to watch your videos yet, and now that I have watched one, I'll probably just play one every morning during breakfast because I like learning new things with my morning coffee.
    I also hope you'll reach ~monetization~ soon!
(I also need to add that the amount of pictures and videos you have shown is probably more than I have ever seen when learning about Black history in my American civilization class - I went to Uni in France. Your videos should be played at school for real.)

I love vintage because there is a story behind the pieces of the people who used them and bought them. It's good to learn from the past! I hope the Author didn't forget about Madam C.J .Walker who was one of the first black women to own a beauty company. When I read about her in a selling book for class I was inspired and looked her up! I'll have to borrow these books from the library 😍

I have long been a lover of vintage fashion and jazz while also being a strong advocate and member of the LGBTQ community. I've fought for my marginalized friends for as long as I realized it was happening. I love a vintage look. As I started to work more and more with the 1940's ball and got more into the scene, I had a hard time rectifying the stigma with my non-white friends. Some of my favorite people on the planet, felt uncomfortable with the idea of attending becuase of the lack of representation in the marketing and photos from the event. The stigma of the violence and harm that occured during the 1940's and I was asked the question of why I would want to celebrate that. This is something I have been trying to educate myself on. I learned about Gladys Bentley from the netflix special on Trans people in entertainment. I was just in such awe of her power and talent, especially in a time when being Black and LGBTQ was dangerous. Thank you so much for always sharing your knowledge on the history and strength of such powerful Black people in history. The day I stumbled upon your Facebook page was a really enlightening one, and I am beyond grateful to share your message across my Vintage lover communities.

Dandy - going back to "All Christmas Music is Black Music"... this morning I was listening to Ravel's Alborada del Gracioso (a morning of less vigorous dance re: back aches today :) ) the jazz elements make is so much more alive and beautiful to me. Weird to comment on another video in this one - but there you are.
