Sorry to hear about the gt86 I just picked one up myself! Also funny you’re in a mini as that was another car I was thinking of buying ha

To be honest, the Mini doesn’t hold a candle to the 86 in the corners - although the turbo (FI) power is nice!

Hey man, sorry to hear about the GT86! I'm sure it'll come back stronger than ever.
I don't usually comment on RUclips, but I felt the need to leave one here. I have an automatic 86 too, and I constantly look to your channel as a reference to what the 6AT can do. Please keep uploading - looking forward to more videos of your awesome build and track skills!

Thanks for the kind words! And sorry for the delayed response. I’m flattered that my channel is a reference for other AT drivers, I feel that the 86 autos don’t get the love they deserve and it’s one of the reasons I make these videos 🙂 Have you modified yours much?

@@3782MC you're welcome! Yeah, auto 86s definitely don't get the love they deserve, so I'm grateful that a channel like yours exists as a reference. I haven't done much to my car, so far I've just changed the rims and equipped some RCE Yellow springs. I've also purchased a 4.88 FD to bring gearing more in line with the manual - hoping to get that installed soon too!

@@saadbashar260 That's amazing, you'll really notice a difference with the final drive 😊 If there's one regret I have, it's going for the 4.556:1 ratio which isn't short enough for track use... a 4.8 - 5.1 FD would have been better.

Sorry to hear about your 86. I've seen 2 FA20s with a hole in the blok a couple of months ago at a shop, one of them was supercharged. Would you share what type of oil went into your engine? How long inbetween intervals? I'm still trying to find out what causes the random stock engines to blow up besides the silicone issue. I hope your engine will get a good rebuild and you have lots of fun with the Mini

Thanks man and sorry for the late reply. I was using a decent 5W-30 oil (Fuchs Titan Pro S) which was changed every 3-4 track days. In my case the failure was down to oil starvation at the main bearings, which I suspect was caused by low oil pressures at sustained high revs.
I also had a 115,000 mile engine which probably didn’t help, but it’s now been rebuilt with forged rods, uprated oil pump gear, front cover oiling mods and beehive valve springs and should hopefully last a good number of years 🤞🏼

@@3782MC No problem, thanks for sharing! Glad to hear your engine has been rebuild with uprated parts, this should be more reliable for track driving
