Brother I wanted to say thank you. I was struggling with this crap for over 2 hours. After watching your video it was out literally in 2 minutes total. Thank you a lot.
So, was a dodge tech for v20 years, now dropping the trans on my 2013 durango, 299K miles, and THIS has me stumped!!! Thanks for posting this. I'm going to try this when I get home.
Needed to “drop” the fuel tank on my 2014 Durango which requires removing the exhaust and driveshaft. Mine would not pull from the transmission flange. After soaking it with penetrating oil for a few days and futile attempts to get it apart I found this video. I used the “shock treatment” method, however a bit different approach. I rigged a small chain-fall attached to my receiver hitch drawbar inserted upside down. Choked the driveshaft with a 1-inch wide sling on the “step” of the driveshaft closest to the trans end. Then threaded two of the flange socket head cap screws back into the trans flange leaving them about a 1/4” from shouldering. Then with tension pulling on the driveshaft, stuck a decent size pin punch into the socket head screws… smacked each with a hammer a time or two and “wa-la” the flange separated from the trans!
Can’t argue with results like those thank you man! I’m in the middle of a cam job that has now turned into a rear main seal job with at least one stripped looking prop shaft bolt the fun never ends
Dude you rock.....just saves me hours of buating my ass. I'm replacing my transfer case so I use a cut off wheel to cut reliefs in the t case cups, hit with PB, then tapped in the holes you said to drill and bam they came right out.
Finally got mine loose! Thanks! I'm trying to decide on whether my front diff has a problem, though. Should there be any clunk sound from that diff when you twist the flange with your hand? It's not like something broken or anything, but there is a clunk. The flange does not have up and down or in and out play, luckily, but I don't know whether it's supposed to make a sound when you initially turn it.
I think im going to get the next bolt size up or two sizes and tap the driveshaft flange. Then use a bolt as the hammer off spot. Dont know trying to find a easier way too

It worked and took 10 minutes, I tapped driveshaft holes with 7/16-14 tap and 2 x 7/16 bolts at 3 inch length.
Thankyou
Fucking, thank you!
What about the front shaft?😉
Same thing i might have got one free by turning the wheels with the trans in park
