- My contribution to the #segmentMM challenge.
Leo from emgi woodworks and Heather from Spiritwynd WoodStoneAndBone have declared a challenge: The 'Segments Month of March'.
Segment work is not in my comfort zone, so I wanted to join in to this challenge. I made a vase from scrap wood, such as oak, pear and walnut and some pieces of plywood. The end result surprised me. I did not expect that I could make such a nice vase with my bad segment setup and preparation time. I'm happy with it!
Let me know what you think.

Hi Frank...
Really lovely job..
The segmented work and the plywood work very well together...
That's a lovely piece of Pearl granite that you are using for your glue ups...
Great video...
Take care...All the best.....Andy
I got that piece of granite from a tombstone maker. This was a damaged leftover piece. Nice flat surface to use . Thanks for viewing Andy. Take care.
I like the idea that you used different kind of woods from scraps which made it more interesting to look at and enhanced its beauty at the end. Great job Frank!👌
Thanks Jojo 👍
Wow Frank that really turned out nice. Looking at all those scraps I was not sure what you were making. Not only is this a great entry to the #segmentMM challenge it would be a great Scrap Wood challenge as well.
First video I watched this morning along with my first cup of coffee.
Enjoyed it a lot,
Gary
Thank you Gary. I was afraid it wouldn't work, but luckily it worked out.
Frank.
Awesome piece Frank from scrap wood wow!!! Stay safe👍👍👍👍
Thank you Radar 🤝
Beautiful work 👏! I really like the types of wood you used together. You got an amazing finish on it also. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!
Thanks Stephen. It worked out well. 🙏
Beautiful work, Amazing what some scrap wood can turn into !
Thanks John.
I also like this more than an expensive piece of wood, or a special piece of burl.
Nice, very nice 👍
Thank you NF 6300 🤝
Heel fraai Frank ! complimenten 👌
Dankjewel Jos🤝
That turned into a really nice piece!
Fortunately it went well.
👍Frank.
A great addition to the challenge Frank! Thanks for joining and by the looks of it this video is going to help you get pretty close to the magic number of 1.000 subs. Great job!
It was fun to join the challenge. And why is this video suddenly going so well? The YT algorithm is difficult to understand. But you're right. It's going well at the moment.
Fantastic work Frank and especially considering you used the bandsaw, stay safe, John
I had to choose John. The handsaw or the bandsaw. So.... 😉
Really beautiful! Nice finish
Thanks Chris 🤝
We’re only limited by our imagination. Great job.
That's true, and we can push that limit again and again 😉
Frank.
Like the colors💪
Thanks Luie.
That is stunning Frank. Brilliant entry into the challenge. Take care mate. Cheers, Huw
Thanks Huw. It was fun to do. Now I have to make a real neat segment ring to try. Or a pen blank maybe 🤔
Cheers.

Thank you Tazio 🤗
Well done!
Thank you Steven.
👍Frank.
Krásná práce 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you 🤝
Just goes to show you what a little patience and a lot of skill can do . Me? Haven't tried a segmented thing yet but you give me hope I can. Someday. Take care Frank. -Mike
This is a very forgivable method Mike. Otherwise I would not have succeeded. And many types and colors of wood mask all imperfections 😉😁
Cheers,
Frank.
@@TheTinyWorkshop Ha, the magic words I need often - forgiveness ! Great idea for masking those pesky gaps 'n things ! Thanks !!! Still a lovely piece.
Great i idea, love the outcome. How long does titebond 3 take to cure.
Thanks. I always let my glue dry overnight. I have no idea how long it should be. I do know that number 3 has a longer processing time, and that is sometimes useful.
wow great job, where did you get the large scraper from my friend?
This is a cheap Chinese scraper.
