    I had a 2000 KDX200 as my first two stroke. Wish I never sold it. Absolutely beautiful 1987 man, really cool that you have a bike that's been in your family for that long.

      thanks, I thought my dad got rid of it, glad he held onto it throughout the years, and I could fix her up.

    When a 220 came up on Craigslist, I drove 60 miles south in a hurry to grab it before someone else did. Not planning on selling it. Not only is it amazing on trail and in the woods, but they're hard to find.

    U said it .... memories and that's what it's all about so I'd say keep it. I have a 89kdx 200 and I love it it's going nowhere. Trout fishing wow it seems we are into similar hobbies. I have a place in the Australian alps where I fish and ride my 200. Love it. 🍻👍

    Nice!!! I'm rebuilding a 1986 right now. Check Your magnets in Your flywheel make sure they aint coming loose. Reinforce with a little jb weld around the edges of them. Degrease and rough up with 400 grit first. That is one issue that killed these bikes when magnets would break loose and destroy themselves along with stator. Stop it before it happens cause that stuff is hard to find for replacement. Awesome bikes. Thanks for sharing!!!

      They are fantastic machines, you can just lug them around in 3rd gear and have a blast trail riding.

      @@briansgarage9207 have you rebuilt the rear shock?

    • @briansgarage9207
      @briansgarage9207  5 лет назад +1

      @@erikdanielczyk5442 no, I have not rebuilt the rear shock yet, still trying to find time to do it. I tend to ride my 1991 kdx200 more. I want to keep the 87 kdx in good condition and ride it every so often and eventually have my son ride it when hes older.

    I bought a brand new 1987… It was the best bike I ever had, I was 16 years old. Then I sold it for a 1989 KX 250…
    It was a mistake in my opinion for 200 is one of the best bikes ever made. Everybody agrees. Congratulations

    Hey bud I'm 5'5 and ride a xr200, i only do trail riding. I like everything about xr200 its easy to ride and keep upright. I had a xr400 and that thing was too heavy and hard to keel upright. Since i rode the xr200 im loving it, now i think I'm ready for more power I've been looking to get either a kdx200 or 220, my question is does these bike have good low end like a xr200 or more and it its easy to ride. I know the xr400 was a nightmare for me maybe because im only 5'5...how tall is the seat on the kdx at 5'5 you think i can tip toe on it.

    • @briansgarage9207
      @briansgarage9207  5 лет назад

      Thats the beauty of the kdx 200 is the low seat height and good low end torque, this air cooled 87' will pull up any hill at carnegie, but I'd have to say that the 1991 kdx 200 i have has more low end torque and better top end power, and also a low seat height. The H model, 95-06 have a higher seat height. The problem is trying to find one of these bikes in decent shape on craigslist. try to find one in good shape mechanically and just fix up the cosmetic, because you can find seat covers and plastics on ebay for 89-94 kdx200, and the 89-94 is the E model, have great low end torque and a lower seat height, you can also lower the rear shock too, its adjustable. the 86-88 air cooled C model have a even lower seat height than E model and a front disk brakes, with rear drum, E model is water cooled with disk in front and rear.

    Hey I have a 2002 kdx200 was wondering do you have any problem with your carburetor leaking from the bottom plug screw? Not the overflow hose

    • @briansgarage9207

      I've seen those cap drain plug on the bottom of the float bowl corrode, it might need a new one, or it's the float bowl gasket that's bad.
