Hello, I’ve been a Tyros owner both T 4 and T 5 (76 note) BRILLIANT. I’ve had my stunning Genos for over 4 years, 5 years later this year. I am extremely pleased with it though. The only gripe I have are the bottoms which light up in blue or orange tends to be a little flimsy. As I have had one giving on me know it still works. I have to say these operating buttons on Tyros were far better quality. I personally like the dials above the sliders as the dials, depending on the parameter set, give very good effects, and the sliders are extremely useful. I don’t consider five years old as particularly old, but perhaps, as this model has so much on board and Yamaha, provided a massive firmware update in 2019 including the superior pack, it’s possible, Yamaha felt red light to refrain from bringing a new model, which, as you say, could well be Genos 2. It may well be late this year when the new model might be introduced, but I’m not too bothered as I’m perfectly happy with this my stunning Genos. I’d prefer if the new model has a built in speaker system and the 16 track midi sequencer had the capability to copy measures.

Agree with all your points Leigh. For me the key features I would like to see would be 1) USB multitrack Audio for ease of inytergration & recording with DAW such as Cubase (had this with my MODX which came out earlier, so was always a strange omission from day one). 2) the ability to sync audio to tempo, even if is just sync start, as using multipads can be literally a hit & miss affair. 3) Abelton link - Genos is a live performance instrument, so the ability to sync other gear to perform or jam along to would be really add to its live performance capabilities.

Hi Leigh, don’t know if you remember me but I came to your print shop about 10 yrs ago with my Nord C1 organ and the tyros 3 we tried to connect the Roland Pedals to all the boards and it was complicated. I live in Orlando now and am toying with getting a Yamaha Organ ELC-02 because it’s an organ as opposed to a Genos but if one day you could show it set up as an organ with pedals that would be great! I miss playing pedals I only have a Casio PXs7000 piano which is outstanding.
The Genos though I believe has better sounds than the Yamaha Organ.

    Hi Leigh
I too have had my Genos from its release, previously had a Tyros 3. I never tire of experimenting with it, so very capable of so many things. The voices on it are better than any I've heard ( I've had a Roland FA-06 and Korg Nautilus as secondary boards. They both have certain good categories, but are weak in others ). The Genos has very few weak voices. Maybe the choirs could do with some better sampling but other than that it covers all of my needs. Operating system is the easiest I've come across. Keep up the good work with the videos.

Hello Leigh, the Genos are absolute a technical masterpiece, but here in Denmark not a big succes as the Tyros series.
Many solomusicans still use there old Tyros 2 3 or 4. You can find a second hand model 4 because it was the last Tyros with the famous Grand Piano, locatet on page 2. The grand piano in the Genos is sharp, and thin from the mid to the high tones. Many of my friends have jobs with dinner music, lot of piano solo and cannot use the Genos sound, it is a shame, because we think like you, the Genos is very fine. I have a Tyros 4 together with a Korg 1000 with musician parcel and Korgi organs installed....... and are waiting for the next Genos. Thanks for yours usefull videos

Hi Leigh, I’m still enjoying my Genos too. It would be nice to have an extra couple of voices so that it may be easier to push an extra couple down to the lower second keyboard, for those who like the organ setup as I do. I know lots of people would say “ if you want an organ buy an organ” but an organ is heavy to move around on your own, two keyboards and a stand are easier. Just my thoughts.😊

Hi Alan. Having had expensive organs and got the Bohm sat at home the organ is great but it’s no match for Genos. I think when Genos 2 comes out I’m going to seriously make it into an organ and wave goodbye to all my other instruments. Genos has never let me down, sounds amazing and is 1/5th of the price of an organ. So I agree with you. I think I will look at making a sound pack for the lower manual which will have combinations of horns strings choirs - giving you a bigger left hand sound.

It would be great when we play Jazz and there are a lot of different drum rolling in between to create moods .
