We're back to where it all started. I remember back in the 70's walking in the shopping malls and a guy would be playing the organ with a rhythm box upgrade attached playing songs attracting buyers to come in and try out the organs!
They need to be more abstract composing with this is bordering on copyright infringement. The older models are much more vague which is better imo. The styles sound more like preset songs than styles. Unfortunate

I bought yamaha genos 4 years ago. I waited for an update to give this instrument a decent or even a bearable sequencer but nothing. Even with Genos 2.0 firmaware update you did nothing on that. You can even export multitrack so we can export our creation and mix it properly on a DAW. I really dont understand how a flagship “wprkstation”doesnt have a reall sequencer. You can only do midi/audio recording and step edit the midi messages which is like trying to create chiptunes music but even harder. You now have Genos version 2, so I dont believe that we all the owners of the first version will get any new firmware with new features. I really try to sell my keyboard to get anything from AKAI or even ROLAND Fantom or even a small stand alone groovebox in order to be able to produce music DAWless. Please forward a message to product managers to hep them understand that a workstation means DAWLess production and with Genos or even montage this is not possible at all.
Thank you for the DEMO, TBH i did not see anything WOW in this G2. Great DX but not much and not so editable. I hope they will update it with more power.
When demonstrating VOICES, it would be very helpful to do that without including STYLEs. I bought my Yamaha Genos when it came our in 2017 and am trying to determine is the new VOICES are worth buying Genos 2. Thank you!

Can someone tell me why there is a plastic part above the display? New design? In my opinion the Korg Pa5x has the most beautiful design among arranger keyboards. ✌️😉🎹🎶🎵
The new design is to enhance the visibility of the main display and to sync the angles of main display and sub display. Yes. Korg pa5x definitely has the most beautiful design.
3 minutes in and the grand piano does sound very nice, but the drums, bass, pad, electric guitar all sound identical to my ~10-year old PSR S900, and the price (and wasted hardware) of upgrading never made sense. So glad I switched over to a Native Instruments controller and a nice collection of VSTs.
NI? VSTs? I think you're missing the entire concept of arranger keyboards. It's not about just recording, it's about live performance with accompaniment.
What a great presentation of Genos 2. It looks and sounds fantastic. Such huge improvements on Genos 1. No doubt it will be a huge, well deserved success! :)
Would be nice to hear modern styles (if they exist on the Genos 2 - such as ambient/chilled Electronica, etc). I also love Latin styles (again, chilled, laid-back styles), so would be good to hear them, too (if they are present). I do like the look and sound of this arranger. Tempted, but need to hear more that is not the same-old, same-old.
They want you to program and sequence more modern grooves yourself. Much like with the regular synth keyboards like the Montage: you want modern sounds? Learn how sound design works and program them in yourself.
I noticed that you haven’t used the keyboard speakers on this demo, so it goes back to the old adage, it won’t sound as good as this when i get it home.
Very good presentation, as usual Tony, however; we are looking forward to see a detailed comparison between Genos 2 and the Korg Pa-5X, from your end. Many thanks from Egypt.

We honestly expected more from the new Genos. Yamaha only took into account very few of my recommendations and those of the community, and that by applying some requests of the users only partially. Nothing special in terms of appearance or even an adjustable screen. The color remains the same black which is a magnet for dust. How beautiful a Tyrois 5 looks compared to a Genos and the new genos 2 is even uglier than Genos 1 if we can call it that now. Genos 2 also sounds good, but honestly I had much higher expectations. 6 years is nothing, so they had time to achieve something truly new. That Ambiance Drums also exists on Genos 1, but it's not called that. The sampler memory remained unchanged, the tones from Dx bring something new, but they could anyway be made in Yamaha Expansion Manager and for the Genos 1 version, the new rhythms can be simply loaded from USB and Genos 1, so they remain only small additions retouches of eq and reverb that we each modify to our liking and which may not be to everyone's taste. In my opinion, Genos 2 is too little and too late, but with all that, as for the sound... yes, it is and remains above the competition, just like Genos 1.
Looks and sounds fantastic with all the new bells and wistles. The demonstrator chap made a good point, these new instruments sound great when played by a proffessional (well polished demonstratator at that) demonstrator. You get get it home, you dont know any of the tweeks, and sugary additions and it doesn't sound any where near as.good? But i think ill give this one (as this demo was so good and iam very familiar with yamaha stuff) the benefit of the doubt. Ive heard it said you are only ever as good as your backing. The backings and intros and outros were fantastic. My uncle being a singer said the same 'your only ever as good as your backing'. Hopefully the same logic would apply to playing this lovely new instrument from yamaha? If i can ever afford the item ?
This has been a fantastic video. It kept me not just enjoying finding out about the Enos2, but I have been totally entertained and could listen to more. I'm ready to put it on my list. I've been through the gamut of keyboards sing the 80's. The most important was the FM generator built in. I'm just curious of the polyphany of the DX7 FM?

I’m finding it very hard to believe that there exists a big enough market for a synth jam packed with styles from the 40s/50s and 60s. Don’t gel me wrong, I like it, but I’m certainly not representative of mainstream customers Weird
Each new iteration is the same: it is great, better than before and so on.... Only incremental changes, which could have been mostly done on previous hardware. IMO, that tilted display is awful and removes all the sweet sleek looking the Genos 1 had. Plenty of lights (more things to eventually fail). And then they say the previous features were buggy, as the sliders functions. So they throw trash over people who bought previous instruments, which is what has allowed them to build this one!. Just madness and consumer fooling. THen, in 6 years, GENOS 3 will be the ultimate and will "fix" some of the GENOS 2 faults. And so on forever... My advice: ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE and LEARN TO PLAY BETTER. That is 95% of the music you play, not just a fancy instrument
Beautiful performance and amazing product. While 80s and 90s sounds are great, but what about the current 2023 and beyond sounds ??? And how about classic and emerging Indian (Bollywood) sounds? Thank you
In 2016, I started with a new PSR S970, and so commenced my 'self teaching' of playing as a new beginner. I would certainly now upgrade to G2 having heard this demo. I did visit the Milton Keynes store to see the original Genos and it was superior to the S970 of course! At 61, I will never be as good as you two in playing ability, but what a motivation to keep learning. Having seen a G2, I believe Yamaha may have missed a trick though, there is no 'quantize' button when creating multi pads. Is there an alternative way that's a s good as quantize?? Thank you for this demo.
My only fault I find with the styles is that sometimes it's better to have great sounding styles that aren't trying to sound like a song, to make them more universally usable and to give you the 'musician' a unique sound and take for any song you play. It can be a bit confining to always sound so much like the original. My keyboard history include the PSR7000, TYROS, TYROS 2, and Tyros 5, and I always took care in reimagining songs for stage use by altering and crafting styles to give the song something new and unique to our act. It becomes harder to do when you find a style that is so good and true to a song (but not quite right due to copyright) that it makes it harder to be original. I suppose for a true original sound these days, use a synth and or computer software sequence instead and create it from scratch. Though i believe you can still create your own on yhe keyboard?? Not sure. That said being able to adjust the ambience of the rhythm is easier now than having to save plenty of registrations of incremental changes to the parts of thr style for a bigger hit on stage, that is good. It is a great sounding keyboard, and ever since the tyros 2 (and motif and montage) ive struggled to find another brand of keyboard that gets the sound, feel and special nuances of an acoustic guitar like Yamaha does.

Why all Yamaha arrangers demos are so « old fashioned ». What I do with my Clavinova CVP-709 is much different… these demos deserve the product for new generations.
A big plus with the Pa5X is (I owned one briefly) is you can add up to two micro SD cards, so you can literally have 1TB storage with not much money spent. The Genos 2 is limited to just 15GB internal. Sure, you can use USB drives but I think that is quite archaic in design. Sorry, but I'm being brutally honest as I know how quickly storage builds up if you have 10-20 takes for a song for example. 10 songs in you could be onto 1GB used already. It is worth thinking about when you are a heavy user.
Ohh no broo, After the latest series from Yamaha modx+ and Yamaha montage series m6, m7 and m8x, now Yamaha genos 2, will there also be an increase in the series on the 2nd version of the Sri Yamaha psr sx900?, I hope so
New reverb, a lot of new styles, some new SA2 voices including a very good nylon guitar, true FM, and a true style creator (midi to style). It seems good even if we always want more. Yamaha marketing is very strong.
Thank you for the video. As someone that has low vision I'm wondering does the Yamaha Genos 2 finally have a screen reader built in that reads everything?
OMG……the new knobs are lighted. He talk‘s about this as if it were the first heart-transplant. Soundwise i can‘t hear such a big difference to Genos 1. Sorry, but i am a little bit disappointed so far. What about the leslie from the YC-series???
I was judging myself whether if I need even a keyboard for creating a music while listening the video and seeing the guy. This sounds so outdated!! After seeing comments I have realized that I am not mad or something!
I learned to play on a Roland E20 arranger keyboard - a long, long time ago. I am still a below average player, but I have moved to digital pianos and music workstations. Once you cross that line, it is really hard to appreciate these arrangers as serious instruments - no matter how advanced they may be (like this Genos 2), they still sound artificial with that touch of a fancy toy…
I'd be totally honest with you, being already an owner of Genos-1, I don't find the Genos-2 (or probably this video) exciting... I did "like" the video for that matter, but as I bought the Montage M8 last month from you after I saw your video on it,... that was something... The Genos-2 sounds nice and probably would be more suitable for a person not owned a Genos before. Perhaps if the instrument was played live would have been better, rather than having someone pressing style buttons and just watching it play by itself,... I don't know I wish this video was made better to show what the instrument does (function keys, dynamics, live music, what the new buttons do, any new features, etc), sorry for being negative, please take my reply as "constructive criticism" , as I said, I did "like" your video for what it's worth.
You give a lot of consideration to which videos you like huh? Really rationing those likes and declaring when you bestow one upon a video. Interesting.
Well @@Sloimer , I like the video, I don't hate it, the instrument is great, but all I'm saying is that the video could be better, it's always better to have someone playing rather than raising the index finger asking to listen to the instrument doing it all by itself... for an initial view of a brand new instrument it would be great to see what functions they've added, knobs, effects, playing some live music etc, it's not a bad video, just nothing to shout about really. I hope I'm making sense.
Still the old generation music style. Nothing changes. It is very expensive oldies keyboard. I feel like listening the CASIO in the year 1890. The real price I expect for that products is $200USD
@@allthingsaudio4610 then why the heck are you watching and commenting such hardware synth demonstration videos anyway???? Go and enjoy your vst plugins. Nobody cares.
@@MaverickM1 this is RUclips where you watch and comment. Too bad you dont like my comment. Sounds like a personal problem. I dont see in my comments where I was even talking to you. Did I strike a nerve. Get out of your feelings.
Does this mean arranger keyboards aren't just for one man bands? Would this be worth buying if auto acompaniments is not your thing and sequencing backing tracks is more your thing? It's just as well I don't have a music shop near where I live anymore because even if I had a whirl on a Genos in a music shop I would have bought one. As a matter of fact last year I came very close to buying a Yamaha Tyros 5 partly because the Tyros 5 was cheaper, I think £2,000 seems to be the typical price a used Tyros 5 goes for and it's also good that some sellers are selling them without the stand. That's one good thing about Yamaha bring out a new flagship arranger/workstation is the fact that it tends to drive the prices down on all the previous models such as Genos, Tyros 4 and Tyros 5. Did he mention that the Genos 2 Legacy sounds are now preloaded as an expansion pack?
Yamaha Motif is still a fantastic tool for music production, I might get a used Yamaha Motif XS rack in the future as you can now get rack versions of Motif for under a grand. I also have Halion 7.
I have an SX700, it is excellent. Would I spend money on this Genos 2? On the evidence of this video, certainly not. I watched the unveiling demo from Yamaha, it was cringy and embarrassing. This is "Emperor's New Clothes " territory here. The Korg PA5x has nothing to fear.
I think that is the biggest blunder with this machine, and as far as I can understand this cannot be increased. You can only use USB thumb drives, which is quite an old fashioned approach, certainly expect something better from a top of the line machine.
In the software world we call this a 1.1 release. Just doesnt take 7 years. In my honest opinion i think Yamaha has still lots of old parts to sell. Add a chip for reverb, add one with FM sounds, minor design change (just the top), few leds of 5 ct each, and.. some BT audio chip that also common on all other devices already. Nothing major changed. Yes its a great machine, but mainly because it already was that. Kuddos for Genos.. disapointing for G2. If you can afford it, go for Genos 1 for lower price in few weeks and save a bit more to add a Montage M6. If you already have a genos.. well then i think the choice is easy. Save money or add a Montage M8.
I like my Yamaha djx ,, one and two ,, I got both of them ,, this is nice very beautiful ,,,the 800 styles is nice ,, but as a arranger player ,, really no one can make a arranger that can please the artist ,, I have never seen one that could I always have to add a synth with the arranger or some other kind of keyboard insterment in order to get what I want ,,, I Love Yamaha they are amazing ,, I have Yamaha PSRsx900 and Yamaha MODX61 wich I Love both of them and I still use other synths with them in order to get what I want ,,,I would like a arranger with styles like Nexus 3 and Avenger with a Moog synth , sounds ,,,my little Novation mini nova ,,I still use it Love it and Roland mini synth ,,I got to have them ,,even if I bought this Genos 2 I still would be limited as to how I was to make music ,,,Its beautiful would Love to have it ,,,Yamaha is amazing ,, Yamaha arrangers and synths makes me a happiers man in my life just to have these amazing keyboard instruments ,,,so beautiful.
I can't wait to see a comparision between it and KORG PA5X as i believe KORG PA5X might be superior and better than this Genos, i can still be proven wrong.
i'm not too impressed with the styles that are tailored for a specific song. that can help a covers band, maybe. but for that purpose I would get a karaoke track or something. for a karaoke/ sound of band X, this is a very expensive solution. it needs to be more general. and cheaper please. And yes, this guy looks more like an insurance broker, but no judging. they can play, too.
We're back to where it all started. I remember back in the 70's walking in the shopping malls and a guy would be playing the organ with a rhythm box upgrade attached playing songs attracting buyers to come in and try out the organs!
The styles are so spot on that no matter what you compose around them, they each sound like a particular song.
They need to be more abstract composing with this is bordering on copyright infringement. The older models are much more vague which is better imo. The styles sound more like preset songs than styles. Unfortunate

I’m finding it very hard to believe that there exists a big enough market for a synth jam packed with styles from the 40s/50s and 60s.
Don’t gel me wrong, I like it, but I’m certainly not representative of mainstream customers
Weird
Tony, el lenguaje corporal lo dice todo, valla basura!! 😂, el presentador haciendo su mejor esfuerzo 😅. Tantos años para esto!!, DECEPCIÓN
I’m tempted to wait for Genos 3 lol 😂
Oh WOW Genos 2. So exited for this. Thank You Bonners team and Yamaha.
Beautiful performance and amazing product. While 80s and 90s sounds are great, but what about the current 2023 and beyond sounds ??? And how about classic and emerging Indian (Bollywood) sounds? Thank you
Please do a comparison video between Genoa 2 and Korg PA5x
In 2016, I started with a new PSR S970, and so commenced my 'self teaching' of playing as a new beginner. I would certainly now upgrade to G2 having heard this demo. I did visit the Milton Keynes store to see the original Genos and it was superior to the S970 of course! At 61, I will never be as good as you two in playing ability, but what a motivation to keep learning. Having seen a G2, I believe Yamaha may have missed a trick though, there is no 'quantize' button when creating multi pads. Is there an alternative way that's a s good as quantize?? Thank you for this demo.
Good job 👍, thanks ))))
Can it’s possible leasing techno styles?
Thanks for the cool video. Do we find smooth sound transition as we can find it on the Pa5X?

I like music very much But I couldn't buy even a musical instrument because I didn't have enough income so I couldn't buy it

yamaha genos 1
I humbly ask God to help me to buy it.
Thank you

Waiting for mine and cant wait
Why all Yamaha arrangers demos are so « old fashioned ». What I do with my Clavinova CVP-709 is much different… these demos deserve the product for new generations.
I thought that I wouldn't say it but.. Korg Pa5X wins!
@@AndrewKeyz someone else pointed out that Genos1 has 58GB memory, Genos2 only gets 15GB, wow
@@Jason75913Tyros 5 had 0,5tb lmao
@@gryzak5127 That's pretty cool.
I don't know why memory gets so skimped out on in music gear when memory is so cheap these days.
In a word, is it worth upgrading?
Unlikely, unsure
No
GENOS 2 is The Very Best! It's my Dream❤❤❤❤❤
Design flaw I've been telling for years: Cant use L Angled jacks. See how its connected, see for yourself.
lol, when you're right you're right
Ohh no broo, After the latest series from Yamaha modx+ and Yamaha montage series m6, m7 and m8x, now Yamaha genos 2, will there also be an increase in the series on the 2nd version of the Sri Yamaha psr sx900?, I hope so
Still don't have REALTIME DRUM ADJUSTMENTS and RESET COUNT-IN when Singers are late or early
Though the demo music was a bit dated, this is one badass arranger keyboard.
New reverb, a lot of new styles, some new SA2 voices including a very good nylon guitar, true FM, and a true style creator (midi to style). It seems good even if we always want more. Yamaha marketing is very strong.
mine is coming tomorrow ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the video. As someone that has low vision I'm wondering does the Yamaha Genos 2 finally have a screen reader built in that reads everything?
When is the new sx series coming???
It’s stale Stilton-level cheese of course, but…grate still! I remember the old Casio VL-Tones. This is like one of those on steroids.
This guy would fit right in entertaining at Butlins.
Wow, the wrong guy to sell this to anyone under the age of 60!
Probably because those under 60 are not the target audience.
@@Jason75913Not sure about this 🤷♂️
I'm 21 and I'd buy this if I had the money to. Seems like a fun time for me!
@@Jason75913 Why would you say this
@GreenBoy9000 im 20 and i agree.
To whom how I don’t know but So,I liked Yamaha genos 2,
OMG……the new knobs are lighted.
Why does this cost so much more than the montage m?
có thông tin sẽ ra organ mới thay thế xs900 hả bạn ?
I learned to play on a Roland E20 arranger keyboard - a long, long time ago. I am still a below average player, but I have moved to digital pianos and music workstations. Once you cross that line, it is really hard to appreciate these arrangers as serious instruments - no matter how advanced they may be (like this Genos 2), they still sound artificial with that touch of a fancy toy…
im waiting for the day that if i close my eyes, an arranger will sound like a real instruments recording.
clearly we atr not there yet
This is so darn fun
Wow . Absolutely beautiful. What a keyboard 🎉!
It sounds dated even for the oldies!
This keyboard sounds horrible. Id rather spend my money on a vst.
I have the Genoa 1 . Can you add the subwoofer speakers and subwoofer systems? How are the Latin Styles?
Great demonstration .
Yeah, finally, I can play some Whitney Houston, George Michael, or Elvis Presley... for myself at home.... 😂😂😂😂😂
So much enthusiasm - almost like Apple presentation. Brilliant, stunning…
Does this mean arranger keyboards aren't just for one man bands? Would this be worth buying if auto acompaniments is
not your thing and sequencing backing tracks is more your thing? It's just as well I don't have a music shop near where I
live anymore because even if I had a whirl on a Genos in a music shop I would have bought one. As a matter of fact last
year I came very close to buying a Yamaha Tyros 5 partly because the Tyros 5 was cheaper, I think £2,000 seems to be
the typical price a used Tyros 5 goes for and it's also good that some sellers are selling them without the stand. That's
one good thing about Yamaha bring out a new flagship arranger/workstation is the fact that it tends to drive the prices
down on all the previous models such as Genos, Tyros 4 and Tyros 5. Did he mention that the Genos 2 Legacy sounds
are now preloaded as an expansion pack?
If sequencing backing tracks is more your thing, get a PC with a DAW and a Montage for sounds, or Native Instruments Komplete for your sounds.
Can you add the subwoofer speakers to the new Genos ?
This can’t be real Yamaha…this took 7 years of development??😂😂
They don't start thinking in Genos 3 from the first day of Genos 2....They work mainly in OS updates.
I wonder if arranger keyboard are popular outside of Europe and India
Indonesia & Singapore are massive markets for Yamaha.
Yes, lots of elderly men buy arranger keyboards in the USA
Excellent
I still love the Motif XS 8
Yamaha Motif is still a fantastic tool for music production, I might get a used Yamaha Motif
XS rack in the future as you can now get rack versions of Motif for under a grand. I also have
Halion 7.
Thank you 🙂👍🎹❤️🔥
I can't stop laughing, I'm so happy to get a new array of Genos cheese flooding t'internet.. it cracks me up every time 😂
The giga boogie-woogie 'board
How much price and where we get to buy please?
350 Dollar
It cost £3,599 rn
I have an SX700, it is excellent. Would I spend money on this Genos 2? On the evidence of this video, certainly not. I watched the unveiling demo from Yamaha, it was cringy and embarrassing. This is "Emperor's New Clothes " territory here. The Korg PA5x has nothing to fear.
boomerkeys galore. 23:14. lol.
Do you sell Rhumba drums loop in audio format ?
Dear God! Classic DX7 sounds not a samples! That you can combine with the other sounds? Wow Yamaha delivered a KO blow
Can't edit them, tho...

61-key genos 2 Expected?
According to official Yamaha specs … internal memory (AWM sounds?) dropped from 58GB (Genos1) to 15GB (Genos2). That’s horrible, if true.
I think that is the biggest blunder with this machine, and as far as I can understand this cannot be increased. You can only use USB thumb drives, which is quite an old fashioned approach, certainly expect something better from a top of the line machine.
hope not was going to buy the genos 2. Well I’m might get the montage m6 I figured out how to import the psr styles inside the modx6 as arpeggios.
I‘m not sure at the moment whether i would buy a car from the Yamaha-Guy 🤷♂️
Very disappointed. Old F! Sounds from 30 years ago and some reverb and leds. 5k please says Yamaha. Lol

This is a great intro; however, I wanted to hear Tony play it.
