6 Transistors no IC spectrum analyzer LED circuit DIY

  • This video shows You how to build a simple Spectrum analyzer circuit using 6 transistors and a few other basic electronic components.
    No ICs are required!
    This is a great DIY project for electronics beginners who want to learn more about any electronic circuits.
    This circuit using 6 small NPN Transistors, 3 Transistors as the preamp and also as the Low Pass Filter (LPF), Band Pass Filter (BPF), and High Pass Filter (HPF). So basically on each band is the circuit of a VU METER LED with audio frequency filters.

    Component list:
    - 6 pcs NPN transistors; C1815 or C945, or You can use any other NPN transistor (but You have to pay attention into EBC pins position).
    - 36 pcs 3v LED bulbs.
    - 6 pcs Elco 10uF at least 16v.
    - 39 pcs 1N4148 Diodes.
    - 36 pcs 820 ohm Resistors.
    - etc.

    Of all the VU meters you have made, I like this one the most. Very cheap but equally good and most sensitive VU meter. And also good looking.
    Sir I have a little question, if I wana add more led lines so what is the value of resistor and NP capacitor we need in each next line???

      You can add resistor that series into the input.

    Easy and cheap 3 band vu meter so we can increase more bands by using different resistors

    Hi is there any difference if i use ceramic capacitor for the 2.2nf and 33 nf capacitor?

      You can use mylar or ceramic capacitors with the same value on each.

    If I use 5 led in per frequency channel what I have to change? The input signal resistor to higher value?

      You can try that without changing the values any other components first.

      That cable often using as connecting cable on a Head tape cassette.
      That's an audio coaxial cables.

      This is just my research experiment result, till today the schematic diagram just still in my brain.
      So if you really needed the circuit diagram you can draw it your self while watching and use play/pause button to catch something.

      Copper wire diameter is not critically, as long as the copper wire can be shaped like in the video.
