Structured and very good for starters. Many vids just show how great the person can climb. But in this vids you take the watching person to really focus on the goals every climber should have

+Dominik “Chuck” Urban My concept behind this series was to focus on really what is needed to make you a better climber! I agree wholeheartedly that too many videos nowadays are focussing on the individual presenting it being a hardcore climber and less on actually what the viewer can gain from it :) Hopefully this will help people get more from their climbing! I have had fun making the series and hope to continue with another series 2 after this one

nice to see a good training climbing video not screaming about core strength

+WeBeChillin420 I have my own ideas on core strength for climbing - it needs to be specific! There is way too much fad training exercises going around now and "Core" is very much the "in" thing at the moment so there is a lot of core related exercises being put forward as good for climbing but in actual fact, your time would be better off doing something more specific :)

Robbie Phillips i agree way to much fad core crap goin around. to me if youre kinda skinny like alot of climbers are, having a strong core is a byproduct of climbing. ive seen a lot of people get into climbing and get good. and not one of them are able to lock off like machines just from climbing, core on the other hand came along just fine as did mine.

+WeBeChillin420 Yeah - a lot of those body balance exercises and TRX related workouts. I see the benefit from the point of view of good old body conditioning and building a healthy balanced body, however when it comes down to it I don't see how they benefit pure climbing movement and I have a friend who works as a research physio who knows his stuff and even has researched it in depth and proven more or less that a lot of the core training exercises most popular with climbers such as situps, leg raises, etc... had actually no effect whatsoever in increasing their ability to hold a tensioned position on the wall with their feet on.
When we talk about "core" in climbing it is a very generalised term... but what most people are referring to is the ability to hold a tensioned position, maintain foot contact on the wall or say kill a swing during a cut loose. The interesting thing I have found is that I have friends who can perform front levers with their pinkies :P (arguably the hardest core strength exercise in a typical elite climbers training regime) and yet they have the inability to maintain body tension enough to keep their feet on the wall on some really simple and basic movements.
This can be due to many different things, but my belief is that if you want to train yourself to maintain a strong body tensioned position on the wall then you need to have your feet on! You need to be driving force through your feet whilst in an extended and strenuous position on the wall - This will train you to have real transferable core strength for climbing and not just a party trick :P
Rant over :P I will now await someone more qualified and better at climbing to tell me I'm talking rubbish... Hahaha

Robbie Phillips yep i totally agree. we have a little core class three times a week i dont attend. but ive noticed the people that have attended consistently for months got no benefit from it for whatever reason. all that work didn't transfer over to all these tension climbing techniques.
a guy that can do a single pinky lever probably just has pretty strong lats rectus abdominus muscles and skinny legs. but when hes pressing hard with the feet and goes to the next move having to keep tension he just cant do it. to me obliques are more important in climbing to have super strong than rectus abdominus. with my experience to get great "core strength" for climbing is to climb roofs and sideways problems slow and controlled keep tension and breath and of course push yourself and having great core tension will come.
      rant over lol

***** idk what the hallow position is. i guess il look it up. ya i used to do them back when i climbed a lot. ya its more lats than anything like climbing and a lot of other body weight tricks and stuff. well having skinny legs really helps with rock climbing and calisthenics. you rarely see a guy climbing v11+ with thick full legs or see guys doing those calisthenics tricks with thick full legs. i dont mean to be a dick or anything. but most guys that get pretty good in climbing and calisthenics if they come into skinny like i did. i climbed v7 and 5.12 in the first three months. dave graham was climbing v9 in three months. and my opinion is its because we're skinny dudes that learn good technique and climb a lot.
