The '25 is my favourite diesel. 25034 was broken up at Vic Berry's scrapyard in Leicester in 1987. My uncle half owns D5185 'Dinas Bran castle' which was the very last class 25 to be withdrawn in 1987.
The 1/0 jack is for the secondary controller (E-Z companion) and can be used by a second person (same 10 trains). The companion can be plugged into daisy chained outlets installed in a tabletop layout.
Will, in reply to your question about running a DC analogue train. The short answer is don't. Your advice not to mix DCC and DC is good advice. You stand the risk of killing your engines and will kill it if you are running n-gauge. I fried a Class 08 in just 10 seconds. Another stunning video though. Keep them coming.
@Trainmaster189 This is quite a number of those set for sale down here in Australia with the DCC controler, quite a number of people use them because they like the 'nob' control. All the Bachmann DCC control set here also have a DVD Instruction video included.
The from DC Controller is so you can control ten DCC loco's and one Analog one and the Analog port is for a second DCC control called the Walk Around DCC controller, so you can have two DCC controllers for the loco's that are on the Command Center (one in the set)
The "to dc controller" thing is there so that you can plug a Bachmann DC controller up to it with the provided cable to run an analog loco. Number 10 can still be used for a DCC engine. Hope this has helped :)
hi will i cant believe after the review of the bachmann midlan pullman that you get the hardship from bachmann with this set but hey there is always the very odd one slip up even from the best manufactorers in the industry but glad you got it sorted as in the end it looks a great model 10/0 as always well done mate peter from essex
this set is immense i got it almost years ago but i sold the ez unit as i used the elite already but you get two high quality coaches (hornby take note) and a super detail class 25 its to me the perfect set good choice :)
Great vid! Fantastic set that one! Just like my 25 only in a different livery, mine is dark BR Green. My dad used to have one in BR blue with yellow ends, with the small middle end windows aswell, just like yours there. :)
@Sopwith16 - They have stopped making the Live Steam range now, and they never brought out a loco that I would have wanted - so I doubt I will ever do a video on it.
very nice set i was considering getting the a Bachmann DCC set at one stage. i did a load test of Bachmann class 25. it ended up pulling something like 41 coaches :P they are very strong locos and can anything you give them
the ez command system is generally a good thing. i have the Dynamis, the wireless dcc controler. i am also a member of the Bachmann collectors club, im supprised there isnt anything about that in the box, there usually is with Hornby.
@LMS16440 they are now versions of the class 25 pre fitted with the DCC sound. Im from Australia and even though with the lack of British products i can easily find a 25 and a 25 w/sound :D. ( i have a class 25 myself, beautiful runner :D )
Um Will you said 'Gumpf' right? It's often referred to as 'Bumpf', as unnecessary or overstated or obvious. (apparently newspaper, etc, slang). Cheers P.
i remember the old speed/direction control modules had a variable resistor, old RC model speed controllers worked the same way, though more modern electronic ones pulse the voltage, so the closer the pulse rate, the faster the motor rotates. I take it the analogue mode would work the same way, is that the case?
I haven't bought a trainset in about ten years, but I want to get one just to do the 'want, want, got' thing with the poster, lol. I'm thinking about getting a set called 'Eastern Valleys Express ' by Hornby because it comes with a LNER B12 (one of my favourite classes). Have you done a review of it or of a similar set yet?
on the grand scheme of things I don't think it really matters. Everyone seems to know what you mean however you pronounce it. At least there's no mistaking Hornby! Maybe Baaacchhman should do some advertising too? That way they can dictate how it's pronounced.
I have this on my wishlist, I will await the second part to see if it stays on the list. So far though it does look smart !!

thanks for the comment!

@ClassA4Mallard - thanks for the comment! I will check out your channel shortly.

Yes, part 2 on that is in the queue for upload!

@eggyjones - thanks fot the comment! Definitely, it's an incredible set. I don't have it personally (yet) but I've heard good things.
The e-z command system is exactly as advertised EASY! I use it to control the Grand Western Railway (GWR lol) and I love it.
The "to dc controller" thing is there so that you can plug a Bachmann DC controller up to it with the provided cable to run an analog loco. Number 10 can still be used for a DCC engine. Hope this has helped :)
hi will

10/0 as always well done mate
peter from essex
Your heater was louder than the jet :P
the dc port thing on the back is for connecting a bachmann dc controller to that so u have two controlers on one track.
this set is immense i got it almost years ago but i sold the ez unit as i used the elite already but you get two high quality coaches (hornby take note) and a super detail class 25 its to me the perfect set good choice :)
@Xantec - I have yet to test the analogue mode - but it's only a matter of time.
of course! DCC is compatible with all DCC stuff
Already looking forward to part two mate!
@Antthecool1 - thanks for the feedback!

@EasternRegionspotter - it's not bad, part 2 is quite interesting.
@CheesyLewis - erm, possibly but it might be a while before I do as it's only a basic set.
@CorporalKinsa - thank you John D.C.! :)
It's true, Bachmann need to do more advertising. I only found out about the British range, through the American Thomas range. Not ideal.
very nice set
i was considering getting the a Bachmann DCC set at one stage.
i did a load test of Bachmann class 25. it ended up pulling something like 41 coaches :P
they are very strong locos and can anything you give them
@Scruffdogspot - hmmm yeah and it stops there. Wait till Part 2 - that's the conclusion to the review after all.
25034 was scrapped at vic berrys. 25035 is at loughborough central, now named castell dinas bran
That E-Z Command DCC Controller was originally found in digital starter sets in America.
@crazyracer12 - haha lol! Thanks for the comment
Theres a digital class 150 bachmann set availible aswell. The train is in sprinter (regionals railway) livery
the ez command system is generally a good thing. i have the Dynamis, the wireless dcc controler.
i am also a member of the Bachmann collectors club, im supprised there isnt anything about that in the box, there usually is with Hornby.
dc controler is for anolage control so you can use 10 dcc locos and the extra jack isnt for acessorys its for the secod dcc controler for 2 people.
Can't wait for part 2 mate!
@LMS16440 they are now versions of the class 25 pre fitted with the DCC sound. Im from Australia and even though with the lack of British products i can easily find a 25 and a 25 w/sound :D. ( i have a class 25 myself, beautiful runner :D )
Ah finally a quality Model Railway set. Look at the point, see the frog and how much metal ther is so much better than Hornby. Very Nice Vid 5*s
Um Will you said 'Gumpf' right? It's often referred to as 'Bumpf', as unnecessary or overstated or obvious. (apparently newspaper, etc, slang). Cheers P.
@Maasdam1993 - oh really? Your opinion might change after Part 2.
you are correct about that loco being scrapped.
@thebritfarmer - ahh yes I think you will like the 2nd part a lot!
My fiance brought me this one for my birthday at the start of the year, it's a cool set, apart from the controller in my opinion.
excellent review as always intercity
Hattons and I think it was about £80.
I think the dc controller had something to do with the number 10

Hi, I'm 40 and never owned a train set but I love watching your reviews. Thinking of starting with the Hornby Orient Express dcc set. Got ant advice?
Yeah definitely!
@InterCity82 yeah when I first got it that was confusing to but it isn't a problem once you get used to it.
Can you do a review of the flying scottsman train set and midnight mail train set both from hornby
@meskippymehappy - I only delete comments if they are flagged as spam (which this one was actually) or if they are rude or effensive.
@alexcooldudeful - that is coming up! I promise :)
Could you do a video of this train with some more coaches running around your layout?
really nice set how much ?? and where from
Hattons and it was about £80
i remember the old speed/direction control modules had a variable resistor, old RC model speed controllers worked the same way, though more modern electronic ones pulse the voltage, so the closer the pulse rate, the faster the motor rotates. I take it the analogue mode would work the same way, is that the case?
@KubicaAlonso123 - I haven't done a video on that set but I have done one on The Anglian which comes with also comes with a B12 loco.
Hi, just wondering, do you have a layout? Or is your track on the floor? Ta.
The red wire is for connecting it to the track
Really like ur reviews and this certainatly does not dissapoint
You can use # 10 on the DCC for DCC locos
Where did you get the set and how much did it cost?
did you also notice the Mk2 is a corridor coach?
25034 lasted until febuary 1988 at vic burys in leister its bodyshell was one of those on the stack though and lasted intil 1989

@TrackMaster555 - yes I talk about it in Part 2 :)
a very nice set. cool local!
I love your videos
Cool set!
I think 25034 was scrapped in 1988.
I think you should do it on the morning anyway.
Yes you can prevent things disturbing you,
but it's dark so the video quality is a bit low..
@modeltrainman12345 - I found the functon thing took a bit of getting used to but only a bit - other than that, it's worth it for that knob! lol
on the grand scheme of things I don't think it really matters. Everyone seems to know what you mean however you pronounce it. At least there's no mistaking Hornby! Maybe Baaacchhman should do some advertising too? That way they can dictate how it's pronounced.
Great video but could you look into hornby's mixed frieght set?
