This is a great approach to creating a leaf cane! It gives you so much control over your results and saves you from having to use a whole lot of clay! Thank You!
I will try your method. The only leaf and I have made didn't turn out well I love your channel. I have gone back to the beginning to watch some of your older videos.
Thank you for always simplifying things so the newbies can understand. I've watched a few caning videos and they tend to skip steps or assume certain things that the beginner may not know. I knew I could count on your tutorial to help make more sense of making a cane.
I was feeling unhappy, on a vacation to visit family and NO CLAY to play with in the evening, but now I have some fun ideas to try when I get home in a few days. I like your leaf cane! And I can see some intriguing earrings, or a charm bracelet with tiny dangly leaves, in every color combination!
I love the phrase 'fantasy leaves'. Makes my off-beat brain happy. This is the ideal option for using scrap clay. I plan to help a special needs youth create tiles for a box, a gift for her Mom. Her Mom loves to garden. Fantasy leaves are the ideal addition and we can use our imagination and my scrap clay to create a totally unique gift. Thank you for sharing and of course for your humor.
Why did I not see this wonderful tutorial before????? Brilliant Val, thank you for taking the time to make this brilliant easily explained leaf cane tutorial. My brain is the same , I have problems with working out which what and who. I so love the style of this leaf cane. Love and peace to you and your family Val xxxx
I LOVE your channel! I've played with polymer clay before but recently started getting serious about it and I am so happy I came across your channel. Thanks so much for your brilliant, easy to follow tutorials! I can't wait to try this out 😄
I just love your tutorials 😁 this is such a stress-free project you've done. (I've made my own cane-end caps since I'm on a budget 😉) Your lovely voice calms me and you have very pretty hands 😊 Wishing you safe times during this crazy quarantine. 💓
U are just refreshingly lovely! I so enjoyed watching and listening to u! I’ve jus gotten into clay and I’m loving it! It’s also New Year’s Eve and I lost my dad this day 2 years ago! He was from Liverpool So ur accent was more than welcome and needed! Thank u! XO
I'm pretty new to polymer clay and I am enjoying using it. I was just looking up what "caning" is when I saw your video post. Thanks! This is a nice starting point for me!
I absolutely love your videos! I've just recently started playing with polymer clay and feel so clumsy at times. Your videos are very assuring and make me feel as though I can do it and you're humor makes learning more fun!
I have only just found your channel, as I am totally new to polymer clay. I was wondering if you have made a tutorial for a fairy house? I remember in a previous tutorial, that you had used the tube from a kitchen roll for the actual house. It looked beautiful. I would love to make one, but so far have not been able to find one that you have made. Keep up the good work! I love watching your videos. Keep safe 😀
Thanks for the video. I am working to add polymer clay to my jewellery designs. To be honest, I am really struggling and seem to have made every mistake in the book...In fact, no book or video has actually covered my disasters lol. Still, I soldier on and seem to be making progress, even if my progress is slow. I do love polymer clay, though and am so impressed when I see what can be done. I am pleased to have found your channel as you explained things really clearly.
Thank you! I recommend you join a Facebook group called "HOP! Hooked on Polymer", as they are really sweet and know a huge amount about claying. On RUclips I recommend Teresa Pandora Salgado, Polymer Clay Tutor (aka Cindy Leitz) and SugarCharmShop... Plus, loads more. 🙂
Thank you for this video! Now I have one more idea of what I can do with my vast selection of scrap! It's also a cane I can teach my groups - if that's ok with you?
roxannkidd66 I use Fimo but Premo, Cernit, anything that is a well-known brand is good. The only exception is Sculpey 3, which I have heard is very brittle. x
this, and you, are awesome! Thank you for this. I may now be able to make a decent leaf cane, lol. Quick question tho. How thick, maybe by playing card standard, are your sheets? Or does it matter? Again, thanks so much!
Thanks! I'm not sure it matters too much, but I just checked and (although I have no playing cards) the sheets are 4 thicknesses of strips of cereal box. Strips of cereal box are easier in a way, as you can cut them long and tape them to your work surface (if you're making something big). Oh, and the middle sheet/wrap is 2 thicknesses.... Before you ask, Crunchy Nut Cornflakes LOL. xx
Doh! The weather can make it difficult. Practice using colours that still look good if you have to smoosh the whole lot together and make a lump of the new shade. ;)

Absolutely, I'm sure it isn't just me who does this. It's an amalgam of ideas I've seen. Good luck!
What do you think is the best clay for beginners to start with?

Unruly Housewife thank you
I use sculpey it is much more sold than other clay

Thanks so much. Gave it a try and think it was to muggy for me to even make a snake, lol. I Will try again.

😊😊
:D
Have you seen these type of canes? ruclips.net/video/fQNHe3biwTM/видео.html I always wanted to know how to do that!
I have to practice more before showing anyone how to do this. I made a cat face cane once but it looked depressed. ;) xx
