I’m an ophthalmologist as well. I’ve tried multiple brands as well, and settled on Q-Optics.. It’s worth trying Zac.. Unlike designs for vision and Orascoptics, Q-optics manufactures everything in their loupes including frames made of titanium. They are very light (probably the lightest) with very practical attachments for lights and refractive attachment if needed in the future. Worth considering.
Some advice from a long time user. If you have prescription lenses DO NOT buy your TTL (through the lens) loupes with your prescription on the lens. Later on your prescription will change, and you will not be able to focus any longer looking through the lens. It is also cheaper to buy your loupes without prescription.
Hey, im a dental hygiene student who is looking into buying loupes, and the brand that are usually pushed towards our profession are the, Q-optics, Lumadent, and the Andau (as the most popular) with Orascoptic, Surgitel and Designs for Visions, towards the latter part of the list for my school at least. I was wondering if different profession has an influence in which loupes to get, and if you have heard of the ergo loupes from lumadent or andau. Thanks if you are able to respond and provide some insight.
Thank you Keven for the list of names. I'm not into anything medical; I'm looking to buy loupes for a holiday gift, for a friend who does close up, detailed, art. I'm sorry he didn't respond.
Thanks for your video! Do you have any budget loupe recommendations for a first year ophtho resident? Not sure if more expensive loupes are worth investing in if I am not sure what subspecialty I’ll eventually pursue if any! Would appreciate your thoughts! Thank you!
Can I use these loops wearing my spectacle? Wouldn’t it be uncomfortable? Can you guide me please . I am in my 1st year ophthalmology residency and want to improve my hand eye coordination under microscope. Will it be helpful using these?
You would not want to use these with glasses on. And you would not use them in addition to a microscope. You can have your prescription put in the loupes however. I just wear contact lenses with mine though. Hope that helps :)
Each brand has different styles so the prices are pretty variable depending on what you want. I got a lot of quality for the price with my Orascoptic loupes though.

Good advice. Do you know which loupes are best suited for glasses wearers?
Thanks for the video! New RDH student in the market to buy my very first loupes. Sidenote: Where did you get your HP scrub cap?
Can you include prices for each brand/ loop and light package

No they’re not
Wtf 😮 no they are not lol 😂
I just had a rep from Orascopic.
You are looking at $3300.
Just a basic loop
The basic ones don’t cost that much.
@@doctoreyeballmd7493I was quoted $2900 for loupes with a light
I got it for $1800 with XL battery 😅
could you please share links of these loupes?
I don’t have links but the 3 brands are:
Orascoptic
Surgitel
Designs for Vision
🙌🏼
@@doctoreyeballmd7493 thank you so much , very helpful video for oculoplastic surgeons :D
Designs for vision no longer carries designer brands such as nuke anymore
Thanks for the info
If you want have health issues buy Design for Vision. Terrible costumer service, very heavy and over priced for the quality.
Which is the most expensive of three brands?
Each brand has different styles so the prices are pretty variable depending on what you want. I got a lot of quality for the price with my Orascoptic loupes though.
