Jigging for squid and then using the live squid as salmon bait is the main focus in this episode. Brendan heads out with Kelly from Charter Tofino and Willie Mitchell as they try out a new fishery and experience for their first time ever. They end up getting more than they ever imagined as a school of huge fish move in and give some epic fights.

Great episode Sir!! Been enjoying your show for ever and it just keeps getting better. Much appreciated cuz it gets me through the winters here in Alberta!!
Thanks for watching! We appreciate the support. Good luck and tight lines out there!
Gorgeous fish the night before episode. I wish you would have kept the last fish you released as it appears it was bleeding in the underwater video you showed. Maybe you're not allowed to keep wild fish I don't know. Nice video none the less.
That is totally amazing. I have never seen that before never mind experience it. Some day i hope to try it. Thanks for the great video
If you ever find yourself in Tofino and want to try it Kelly is an incredible guide to get out on the water with! Thanks for watching!

@@ryanhill2348 Awesome, we love to hear it!
Fun! Never done that either! I think I'd love that more than downriggers for sure, less passive!
It's a blast! The takes are very soft but when you get one on the fight is epic.
Theres a few guys in southern puget sound that does this targeting winter blackmouth
Man I’m missing my ocean, keep them coming it helps me feel better 😊🍻

N.S.R. Never Stop Reeling!!! 😁😁😁 Beautiful fish!!!
Good advice! Thanks for watching!
Great video...totally enjoyed...any videos on how to properly rid the squid.....
I think this is your most interesting Video.
Great video! Back when I live in So. Cal during my Navy days, charter boat captains would routinely use live squid if they could get their hands on them. Wonderful bait. I've been planning on trying this method in Puget Sound. I'm pretty sure it will work. I'm curious if you've ever used live anchovies or sardines for Salmon. When I was a kid, we used to fly-line live bait for Coho - basically put a hook in it's back and free spool the thing when we fished off the docks - it worked very well if fish were around. We also used that technique in So. Cal for local species there - tuna/dorado/yellowtail etc. . I've googled it and checked on RUclips but it seems no one is doing that in the PNW. Have you ever heard of it or tried it?
People do it in the South South sound for winter black mouth
Check under the cowling Is there a flux capacitor in that boat?
New to your channel, great videos, awesome fishing

Or go to any government dock late at night and jig your own squid. Lived in Bamfield for 23 years as a professional fishing guide. My biggest Chinook 54.5 biggest coho 23.4 . How's that for 23 years of fishing. I'm also the one guy who has had a sockeye-halibut double header. Figure that one out.lol chow
Sockeye and halibut would have been quite the sight to see! Thanks for watching please like and subscribe to support the show!
How do you rig the squid? I see a lot of videos on them but none show the rigging. Is this a Tofino/Ucluelet secret that videomakers want to respect?
Nice!
PFD's too well done Fish on....Awesome cool
Thanks for watching! PFD’s are important!
Do the salmon bite if you use frozen squid? Or do you have to use fresh
Hogs!!
Thanks for watching!
how did you guys rig up those squid?
I learned the word Tyee from your show. What month was this? Do you have the contact for that charter operator? Love from Cali. No salmon season for us this year.
Thanks for watching! This was the first week of July with Charter Tofino. Can’t recommend him enough!!!
Guy catches tyees in every vid
So Sick! Are you guys just drifting with the current or anchored?
Just drifting but using the Simrad to find the bait and then try and stay on top of it or drift into it
That’s Rad. Never tried live squid like that either. Are you guys sitting in the same you caught squid to catch the chinook? Or traveling to a different location to catch the chinook?
We were fortunate to be able to catch squid and Chinook with the same jigs in the same spot. Doing this fishing is all about your electronics and using the simrad to find the squid and the fish and making sure you’re in the right spot.
What is the name of the resort?
The Resort is Tofino Resort + Marina and the charter is Charter Tofino
I wonder if squid are in the puget sound during the summer?
If there are I would definitely recommend trying this out!
Not enough of em in the summer, I know that some guys use live squid for winter black mouths out of steilacoom
How do you not hit the beer after that. 🤙🏻
It was definitely a beer worthy day!
are those columbian river run fish
Dang making me jealous... but I'm not done cutthroat fishing on the Harrison River yet. So don't catch all the big ones...lol
No promises! Glad you enjoyed it and good luck out there!
Was it summer time?
Yes this was in July
Like these videos but, sorry, none of those are tyees unless officially they have lowered the standard
Nice Chinook, good catch. Don't claim tyre unless it's around the 50lb round
Last fish of day one died 100%. Should have punched it
It would be neat if they fished like regular poor people without all the high fallutin tech and contacts. That actually might be entertaining.
Those reels just don’t make sense. They look fun to use but man that ratio of 1/1 with that already small diameter spool is just too slow.
