      Being ever present. It's the closest I've found to what people say about "living in the moment".
      Record in a pine forest. The acoustics would rival many great European cathedrals.

    Standing around being a quiet as possible is one of the great benefits of field recording, it can be entirely meditative.
    I prefer using a pair of omnis, but they do boost the base rumble a bit. Good job explaining the pleasures of field recording. Good luck trying to escape traffic.

    14:34 surprise rock ASMR 😁. I'm trying to figure out the ultimate mikroUsi stealth setup and this vid has been useful, thanks!

      Haha yes, you're right. Yes, i really like this stealth setup with the mikroUsi's. Been using this technique a lot and i like the result of the sound. Just don't cause a feedback from the mics being too close to the headphones, it actually happened to me before.

    I'm curious if the rock sound was peaking and causing a more crunched noise.

      Hey thanks for carefully listening! As i remember it wasnt peaking, but it was the actual sound of it :)

    How is rode m5 self noise. do you recommend this for this kind of setup.

    • @JonasFasching
      @JonasFasching  23 дня назад

      I quite like it, the selfnoise is definitely better with this setup compared to using the zoom h5 with the xy capsule. M5 and MixPre 6 is a really nice combo in my opinion. But also costs a lot more and requires a lot of additional material, such as stands, cables etc.

    Your mics on your head do not represent "your ears" as there are no ears, but, it is an excellent stereo recording.
    If, however, you would like to try out one of my SR3D basic binaural capturing device, just send me your details, and maybe you could do a review on it?
    Binaural capturing device really requires a slightly different recording technique (and playback volume) compared to standard microphone level techniques.
    Aircraft should be perceived from above, leaves would sound like they are coming from your feet when you step on them when they are dry, that's if your ears are of a similar shape as the SR3D, though you should still perceive an external sound rather than inside your head as what you would normally get with stereo, as stereo has no binaural information from the ears infused on to the sound.

    • @JonasFasching
      @JonasFasching  5 месяцев назад

      Hey thank you so much for your comment. You‘re absolutely right. The setup doesn‘t represent my ears. What they have in common is the almost same discance of the microphones and the head in between. But of course, if the microphones would sit inside my ears, the body and shape of the ears really would affect the sound a lot and thats missing on this setup. Thank you so much of your offering, i just sent you a DM for further contact.

      Yes, i also thought about that when listening to the recordings… I guess thats a part of the binaural experience 🤷‍♂️😌

      @@heythere1968 I am using Bubblebee Industries for the LOM MicroUsi and the RODE WS8 for the M5's. For the Zoom H5 i use the Protection from Zoom.

      @JonasFasching how's the noise floor on those m5 mics? Do they sound better then the usi? Which one do you like better I considered those and the lewitt 040s as well

    • @JonasFasching
      @JonasFasching  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@heythere1968 The noise floor of the M5's is quite noticable compared to other mics, but i think for the price they cost you cant complain. The Usi's are really great because they are so small, and for field recording this can be a huge advantage. Because with them you don't need a tripod, xlr cables etc, and the quality is actually really nice. So for field recording i would probably choose the microUsi's if i'd had to pick.
