Gurren lagann is one if my favorite anime. I was in Tokyo last October and none of my friends would go to see it with me. Just this month they played it in theaters and I went by myself and it was the best.

I know a lot of people write off Kitan and don't care for him, but I always have found his narrative so mature and interesting, always in Kamina's shadow, Simon manages to shine past the shadow of what came before, but Kitan, just slightly out of reach, Comparing himself to Kamina up until the end, comparing himself to Simon too, never feeling enough but willing to take the risk. I think he's such an important character. I don't think it's coincidental that his Giga Drill is the second people rewatch. I also don't think it's coincidental that his death explains so much about Spital Power, is so Iconic, and that the most iconic and replayed TTGL OST track, the Operatic version of Row Row Fight The Power; Libera Me From Hell is first played in TTGL in this scene. Here's to an underrated Under Dog, King Kitan. He really did the impossible, and was the seen invisible.
And the edge of absolute hell, where no spiral power can ever be created, even by simon... kittan not only awakened by completely overpowered the machine. This scene and its aftermath is peak fiction.

In my opinion, this was the strongest Gita drill break ever performed. It is powered by spiral energy, or masculine human spirit. Kitten knowingly giving his life to save his friends I think would generate more spiral energy than anything that had happened in the series.

昔は保育園児で全然わかんなかったけど、社会人になった今みるとグレンラガンまじ神アニメ
映画版よりアニメ版のキタンが言う「俺の魂だ！！」が好き
「テメェごときに、食いつくせるかァァァァァァァァ！」もアニメ版の方が圧倒的に好き
背中ちゃんと見せてシモンに漢を教えた男は作中たったの２人だけ、カミナとキタン、２人とも恐ろしくかっこよすぎる
最後の最後でキタンが覚醒して兄貴分本領発揮するの最高にかっこいい👍
カミナのようにキスで返すんじゃなくてハグに留めてるあたり、やっぱりまだヨーコはカミナを忘れられてないんだなって感じがする
カミナの時はヨーコが先にキスをしてカミナがキスで返してる。
カミナの時は生きて帰る前提だったのに対してキタンは確実に死ぬという違いがある。
