My VCFSW 2024 Haul Part 1

I recorded multiple hours of footage of me talking about and testing each of the things I bought at VCFSW this year. I also briefly mention some things at the beginning, both related and unrelated, that I bought in the DFW area while I was staying down there for the convention.
The slowness of the Cx486DLC was caused by me misunderstanding the very weird jumper settings the new board had. CPU speed jumpers are marked as 50, 66, and 80 MHz... rather strange for a board supporting CPUs less than half the lowest listed speed. Admittedly, I still don't quite understand, but setting the jumper to 80 MHz ran the 40 MHz Cx486DLC at the correct speed. The difference was immediately noticeable.
I also think the Hardcards' complete lack of functionality was due to the fact that I was trying to use them in a 16-bit system. I'm not entirely sure, but it's my (quite limited) understanding that 8-bit hard drive controllers simply will not work in 16-bit motherboards.
The weird Pentium II thing I have since confirmed does in fact work. That DIMM I tried to use in it, however, does not.
The hard drive contained a mostly unused copy of Windows XP with OpenOffice.org 1.1 and some free Photoshop thing I had never heard of. There was also a PDF of “Window System Design” by James Gosling on the desktop. Not sure exactly what the computer did in its first (and perhaps second?) life.
As for the PS/2 Model 30, I really don't know what's wrong with it. I'm impressed that the computer itself seems to fully work, even if the video signal is useless and both storage drives failed to function.
