  • My reaction to Fade to Black from live concert in Lincoln NE.
This video is a start of my channel and this song is amazingly beautiful - it is now one of my favorite songs. Intro and solo so toughing and his vocal full of pure pain. No complain!
    Lyrics.
Life it seems to fade away
    Drifting further everyday
    Getting lost within myself
    Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
    Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
    Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
    Emptiness is filling me
    To the point of agony
    Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me but now, he's gone
No one but me can save myself, but its too late
Now I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
    Goodbye

That last "goodbye" isn't a goodbye to problems, it's a man saying goodbye to the world right before committing suicide. This song was written when their gear got stolen after a show and they were thinking if they should keep going or just quit and i'm sooo thankful that they decided to keep going :)

@ I try not to live in the past by remembering the past but it can be difficult. Everytime I recall it, it eat me up inside then that's when the thoughts comeback and haunt me.

    •  3 года назад

@@droneguy69 Thank you for responding, I appreciate it!
Well, I think you have identified a large part of the problem. The past is over. The future isn't here, so all you have is the present. Everyday is a fresh start, please don't allow the past to be dragged into another day. If the past is horrible, let it go.
I have had tremendous loss in my life (my best friend was killed, I watched my mother die in horrific agony while I took care of her until she died under 70 pounds, my dad was a child predator,etc.etc.etc..) If I lived in the past, I would not be able to survive.
Here's a question for you: If you could erase the past would you do it? If so, would you be okay with losing all the good memories as well as the past?
If the answer is yes, then living in the present is the quickest way towards a new and BETTER life.
If the answer is no, then cherish the good memories and discard the past. (But if you regret past mistakes, don't repeat them..and maybe make amends...)
I strongly believe that a secular therapist could help you move beyond the past and teach you some life skills that can move you forward.
The past can be such heavy baggage...it may be time to downsize and let it go.
Better to have a small backpack of good times, than a truck full of junk that you don't need.
      Today is a new day!
( For me, although there are a lot of memories that can be associated with music, I try to enjoy a piece of music simply for the art alone.)
If you associate a song with a bad memory, then the song can no longer bring you joy. Please don't do that to yourself or a good song. Let the music you hear bring you happiness in the moment you are currently in, not a moment in the past that no longer exists and causes you pain.
I look forward to hearing from you...maybe you could share a bit more with me?
      Until next time, enjoy today!

as a metal guitarist, I enjoy seeing reactions from many people in this day and age. Back in the days when I played Metal music, most people thought of us as satanist without first listening to the music. Metal music is composed of Blues notes, classical notes and sometimes just freestyle playing with deep emotional lyrics that speak for itself, and a new heavy and fast note/chord progressions to tell a story most people deal with on a regular basis. Keep up with the great reactions. It makes me smile to see that, finally after over 30 years...people are realizing that Metal music is one of the best music genres in history. Cachai

Here is my reaction to your reaction video, just to do something a little different:
0.00 I love that you include the lyrics in the description for each video.
1:30 Metallica has some of the best solos, and this brings back great memories. I've only seen Metallica live in concert once, they were with Guns & Roses at a huge stadium, and it was phenomenal. If you ever get the chance to see Metallica live, DO IT!
1:35 Have you ever seen Metallica live or any of these bands that you review?
1:45 Music is a natural drug for you, isn't it? I totally get it. When I'm getting to know someone and I ask them what music they like, and they tell me they don't really like music or it doesn't do anything for them, I feel like I'm just speaking to an alien, I don't even comprehend it. I love meeting that rare person who really understands and feels music as deeply as myself, that's why I love your channel so much -- that pure emotion that you don't even try to contain as you feel it with the music.
    2:15 Goosebumps!
2:35 Goosebumps again. I really hope you get to see Metallica live if you haven't, imagine actually being there in person when a favorite song like this starts to be played, and you can literally feel the music as it comes out of the speakers...
2:52 For just a second I thought James had a very unique double axe guitar, then the camera zoomed in a bit more and I realized it was two different guitars... but I love the blue lights and the colors around him in this performance. This recording of the performance also has really great sound and video quality.
3:09 "...simply nothing more to give" Imagine the pain being felt when those lyrics were being written, you can tell this song comes from the heart. Real men write real words (and sometimes sing them). Our society tends to label men with feelings as weak, but this is nothing but strength. (And James Hetfield will kick your ass if you try to say anything different, LOL!)
3:59 Metallica is definitely not a commercial product, and that's what makes them so great. Some people accuse them of selling out with some of their later albums, but they didn't, they're still just recording and performing the songs that they feel, rather than the songs they think others want them to do, which is actually the exact opposite of selling out. That's them staying true to themselves individually and as a band, and I respect them a lot for it.
7:17 You make a very good point! So many videos and live performances anymore are focused just on how the artist looks or what clothes they are wearing (or not wearing) or some new dance routine -- it's not really focused on the MUSIC, and the lyrics are so dull and repetitive. The average music video is a shiny object that looks good for just a moment to then be forgotten, but it lacks substance and deeper meaning. Metallica is just four guys and their instruments, but performing songs with substance, and I'll take any 1 of their songs over 100 of the songs most likely to be heard on most radio stations right now.
7:47 I guess you just answered my earlier question, you mention here that you've never been to their concert, I hope you can change that and see them some day!
7:49 "Poopy husband" 😆 I laughed so hard at that, although I'm sure he is actually a very wonderful person and maybe one day he gives you a wonderful surprise with tickets to go see them!
7:58 Waiiit... this gets even worse! Your husband's brother took him to the concert but not you?? Oh, the humanity!! Please tell me it wasn't actually a Metallica concert? That would be a crime...
9:26 "Goodbye, get out, go away! We say goodbyyeee!!!" That's what I'd be yelling to the person trying to take a spouse to go see a concert and not include me... 🙂
But as it relates to the song, yes, this is definitely James Hetfield trying to purge himself of something painful. Pure catharsis.
10:15 - 10:41 I've been thinking for a few years now that I want to learn to play the guitar. Seeing this sort of reaction, I think I've just made up my mind to go ahead and start taking lessons.
11:33 These guys are masters of their craft, they just get better and better, they don't seem to ever get tired of playing the same songs, and you'll never see them perform a low-energy show. Like I said, masters of their craft. Very often imitated, never equaled. They are the band that got me into metal music, and I really do hope you get to see them live one day!

Thank you for doing it, it was interesting to read, I felt like I’ve done videos for ppl and somebody did something for me! Cool!!! Thank you again! (About live concert and my husband - I just played around, zero drama- just happened to be brothers-in-law birthday that day and my husband to buy tickets for him) but I was at home with daughter , it was my decision and also no opportunity to leave a baby anywhere, and it was luck of opportunity to buy more than two tickets. So it’s totally ok, I’ll see them later! 100%

@@IYOU Hahaha, I was totally just playing around myself about your husband's brother taking him to the concert without you!🙂 I'm actually really glad there was no real drama or anything, it was probably good for your husband and his brother to be able to spend some time together and bond, but I do hope you get the chance to see Metallica live one day!

I love watching your reactions to my favourite band. I’ve been a fan of Metallica since I’ve been a teenager (I’m 41 now), and this song’s lyrics are still relevant today. Not bad for a 36 year old song. And your husband should be punished for not taking his wife to see them live.

YEEEAH)! it is one of my favorite song now, (about my husband, I secretly bought Gucci shoes as a punishment for him, and some jeans, well, I guess now he will know and will punish me))such a despot))))

I YOU 😆Serves him right. Anyway he shouldn’t punish you for something he started anyway.
Keep up the reactions. 👍 Definitely recommend One from them. This is the song that started me loving them.
Other band recommendations are Within Temptation (been a fan for not as long but they are my 2nd favourite), another is Baby Metal, only got into them recently (they are a fusion of J Pop and metal) surprising it just works somehow. Listen to their new album Metal Galaxy, it’s good. React to Pa Pa Ya (music video is on RUclips).
