Edith Durham went to Albania in a time period where women had 0 rights in Albania, and she travelled the entire north alone without being robbed or assaulted, instead she was titled "Queen of The Highlands"
She started her journey to the Balkan in Montenegro, where she started to build a positive opinion about Serbs. Later, fascinated from the stories she heard about Albania, she decided to travel to North Albania. She spent years traveling Albanian maintains, and became the biggest supporter of Albanian struggle for independence. She denounced Serbian terrible crimes against Albanians and their effort to occupy Albania.
Actually in Albanian law, back then women had different rights and privileges which men did not have. Also, they had the option to have all the men's rights on the condition that she had to identify as a man (alb. "burrnesha", roughly applying the concept in english "manness"). The reason for this is to wave women's untouchable right from any kind of feud and face man's consequences per situation.

I think one guy asking for your phone number doesn't really qualify as not a safe situation. If I were to see you, I would do the same thing. You're a beautiful young lady, so I would see it as a compliment. ❤
300 Lekë for 2 km is OK, most taximeters start at 300 Lekë for the first 2 km, some will charge 250 Lekë for 2 km, and few will try to take advantage of foreigners. Take my advice, always watch if they use the taximeter or tell them to use it. If they don't turn on the taximeter, don't pay them more than 500 Lekë (4 Euro). Some may give you a good deal before they start driving, in Tirana 3-7 Euro will be a very good deal (depending on the distance of the trip) because you can wait too long in the traffic and if they use the taximeter, even if you are going somewhere near, it will feel like you've been ripped off. In any other city, don't pay more than 3 Euros. Anyway, always feel free to ask how much does it cost from here to there, they will give you a price, if you don't like it, say bye and take another taxi. If you are confused or lost or whatever, feel free to ask for help, everyone will help, many will leave what they are doing and help you, and some might notice and approach to ask if you need help. I wish you a nice stay in Albania.
