The worst airport I think is Bristol in England. 1) It was built in 2000 designed for only 8 boarding gates. Now there are over 30 boarding gates but the departure lounge has never been extended. It’s often over crowded and chaotic not enough seats so people sit and lie on the floor.
    2) There are no air bridges to the planes despite it being a relatively new terminal!
    3) No travelators either and passengers have almost half a miles walk along a long corridor to the furthest boarding gate.
    4) The location is terrible. It’s built on a hill so the runway can’t be extended so all Bristol will ever accommodate are smaller airliners. Also it’s many many miles from the Motorway meaning a long drive along single lane 30mph roads. Should have been built at Filton.

Was about to comment this. The transit connection is a normal transit ticket, but the buses are absolutely butt to gut PACKED with people and screaming babies. The terminals are horrible too and if you get a bus gate, they unload you and then you get to stand in limbo for about an hour while you wait for someone to get your bags put on the belt.
I guess Ben never went to TXL since Ryanair uses SXF.

6:03 Well, actually, walking is not an option. If you try to follow Google's walking directions, you'll get arrested for trespassing on airport property. And don't even try to walk on the motorway (which is the only route into the airport). That's illegal, and even then, you'll most likely die from getting hit by a car at a high speed (it's a motorway, after all). There's literally no way to get out of the airport other than by taxi/bus/train, which are unfortunately overpriced, as you said in the video.
6:10 Doing the math, that's only actually true if you're travelling with 2 people or more.

The worst airport is by far Franc List 2 in Budapest. When leaving the country, we suffered the worst possible mistreatment and chauvinism, when the employee recognized that we were from Serbia, she waited for my wife to put the things in the container, ran up while the things were moving, and ordered her to take off the new shoes and put them in the new the dish. She said that it was a thick platform and that there could be a bomb there. We were in shock and didn't have time to react. It was good that we didn't react, they already had an arrest ready. My wife ran 60 meters to the other end and I brought her shoes. Three meters away from us was another employee who watched us closely while we were looking for clean socks to wear over the dirty ones so as not to ruin our new shoes. I will mention that it could only fit a smaller box of matches, 4.5cm x 3cm x 1cm, maybe 5 grams of explosives. Of course, the only sin was that we were from Serbia, which the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy attacked in the First World War and killed 28 percent of the entire population, women and children, at concentration camp and 62 percent of that was the male population were killed. When my wife was getting up, an aggressive hand with a belt appeared and pushed me away and closed access to the chair. Then we escaped the second arrest. That second employee was informed by the first that we are from Serbia. We passed through the fenced area, the belt closed behind us. there was only one passenger in front of us who was examined at passport control in 10 seconds. When it was our turn, the officer was checking something for 4 minutes. Since I am extremely tall, he knew that I was from Serbia. After 4 minutes, when he saw what we were doing, that we didn't have any crime, that we weren't criminally prosecuted and so on, he picked up the folded passports and handed them to the counter. I thanked him, and he looked at me with an endless expression of hatred and put the passports down. Then we felt fear. We were only in a large room. I pretended that everything was fine. I looked "disinterestedly" into the transparent glass, looking back I didn't see anyone behind us. After 8 minutes, since we didn't react, he picked up the passports again. There we avoided the third arrest, since we didn't react. We passed and arrived at our gate, where there were only two other passengers. we logged in to the internet, using our names as they ask for at the airport, and we were there for about 10 minutes. Then the system crashed. we tried to log in again. They kept asking us to log in again. At the gate next to ours, everyone was on the Internet without any problems. We realized that they were making fun of us since they turned off our bus after they found our names and that we shouldn't complain otherwise... the moment we got off the gate there were three of us on the bus. Suddenly after 2 minutes, another 67 Hungarians got off. The bus started quickly, arrived at the ATR-72 plane, we quickly got on board in 5 minutes, and in 5 minutes with the safety procedure, quickly left the runway, quickly took off, so as not to be late, while changing the engine three times sound on takeoff and that was it. The stewardess told us that the plane had been waiting on the runway for 40 minutes without any reason and that they didn't understand anything.
What we experienced as Serbs, oh chauvinism, was nothing compared to what the Jews who returned to Jerusalem experienced. Namely, they were in the part of the airport 80 meters apart from the other counters in the part for special harassment. There were closed passages, with strong police forces and a police dog. And there was only a big queue. Until 1944, the population of Budapest had about 23 percent Jewish population, during 3 months, 560 thousand Jews were killed under the chain bridge on the Danube, and most of them were taken to the Auschwitz camp, where they were mostly killed within a few days. That is why they return to their holy places every year, and the Hungarians remind them when they leave that they have nothing to look for in Hungary. So. In its roots, Hungary still lives under the spirit of Nazism and chauvinism. But not everything is so black, says terminal 2a, where their proven friends Lufthansa and others, as well as private planes, have a completely different treatment.

judging by what you talked about in this video it is more of a top of of the worst airport transportation links rather than worst airports... OSL isn't so bad after all. If you thought that OSL trains are espensive, check out Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) where the only fairly cheap option is to not take a train but a bus. Or talk about Frankfurt main airport, which has a cheap rail link but oh boy does it suck if you change from a non-schengen flight into a schengen flight - if you aren't lucky enough to arrive at concourse Z, you got to walk through security again. And that can be very crowded, missing your flight very easily.

  • @lzh4950

Might be interesting that Singapore's Changi airport doesn't have a coach/shuttle service to downtown IIRC, probably as the government is worried it'll cannibalize ridership from it's rail (subway/metro) link, which is cheap but might not have seating. There's also a regular commuter bus to downtown (36) which can also get crowded as it stops along 1-2 suburbs en-route that isn't currently served by rail. 1 gripe though is that some taxi drivers are willing to fetch passengers from the airport only after 1700h, as that's the time that the "location surcharge" that they can charge you (for having to go all the way to the airport to pick you up) is raised from $3 to $5

have you ever heard of Evenes airport, Norway? it is clean, but also small, with everything code reader operated, so if you don't have your right tickets, you are in trouble. The worst thing, it is suppose to serve Harstad and Narvik, hence the airport name: harstad/narvik evenes. BUT, it is also the only way to get to Svolvær, by airport transfer that some days don't run or local bus which costs £30 at the cheapest, and up if you need to go to Leknes or beyond. Svolvær and Leknes do have their own airports, but these are tiny sheds with limited local air traffic by monopoly run Widerøe

Took me an hour to get through to the bag drop and then I had to queue up again to put another bag in the hold because it was over sized apparently. Anyway I then got to security to find that queue was just as long as the check In. Eventually I get through security and thought you know what ill have a nice breakfast to start my holiday off even though there over priced as I get to the pub my flight gets called and they say the plane is a good 20 minute walk away so i walked there thinking they has to be a shop at the gate or a small cafe or something no there was nothing and to make it worse the plane was delayed so i probably could have got a breakfast after all

London Gatwick Airport & London Luton Airport aren’t as interesting than London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 and Terminal 5. And Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 are just boring but still ideal. London Stansted Airport isn’t too bad and I like the building. London Southend Airport is good but it’s only a small local airport. Same with Carlisle Lake District Airport. Who Stobart Group owns those 2 airports. London City Airport is a small airport and is just as dull and is located in the London Docklands. Norwich International Airport is a old small airport that serves Norwich and East Anglia and isn’t ideal but has good links to other destinations.
I never been to Exeter International Airport, Cardiff Barry Island Airport, Liverpool John Lennon International Airport, Birmingham International Airport, Glasgow Prestwick Airport, Glasgow International Airport, Manchester International Airport and other airports in the UK so I don’t know what they are like.

I’ve actually never been on an airport except for a local (now closed) small one that was part of an airforce base. My dad had fly to Athens once for his work (radar test engineer). I’ve never been on an airplane so far, allthough if I would ever fly once in my life I would want to visit New Zealand. Seems like a nice destination as you can’t take a train to go there. It always amazes me why flying is so relatively cheap compared to more environmentally friendly means of transport like a high speed train. Within europe I would prefer the ICE train of TGV. With cheap flight tickets there must be a lot of hidden costs somewhere....

London Stansted is a really crap airport, that's true. Last year my flight to London was to Heathrow terminal 2. This was a very nice and modern terminal. Very quick and friendly. I have been to Heathrow terminals 1 and 2 in the 90es. They were very old then, but terminal 2 now is a complete new building, very nice. Bus sadly, as you mentioned, the cheap flights all go to Stansted.

I've only been to Eilat 2 times in my life although I live in Israel. But I think Ben Gurion Airport(TLV) is even worse, especially the re-opened Terminal 1 where I flew to Prague with my family. There is almost nothing to spend you time there and you have to come there a lot of time before departing. Also, the waiting area is very boring and there is nothing to eat if you're hungry. Also, when you come there, you have to pass at a security toll gate, where you being questioned to where you need to go. The even worse thing is if you have a dark skin or you are an arab, they may stop you for extra questioning where they mostly be like to embarrass you near everyone. There is another way to get into the airport by train, but there is only a station for Terminal 3, which means if you go to Terminal 1, you must take a shuttle service or use a taxi or get there by your own personal vehicle. Also, waiting times are PAINFUL, especially in summer break and holidays(mostly Sukot and Passover) where lots of people traveling outside of this country. The security may also deport you if you have practiced in an anti-Israel/pro-Palestinian riots or something else. Also, if you have a flight in Saturday, prepare go suffer even more because all public transportation services except over-priced taxis and in the Haifa area is suspended due to some stupid religious reasons. You can also get there by bus but you'll have to wait even more and sometimes the bus driver will see you waiting, be he won't stop for you which is even more frustrating. Personally, I think Terminal 3 is better than Terminal 1 because there is more things to do when waiting for your flight but you'll still have to get through the questioning and long waiting times.

Frankfurt-Hahn airport is weird indeed. Not sure why they would add "Frankfurt" to the name when it's not even in Frankfurt. Maybe because of the name? Frankfurt is more widely known than Bonn. Same here in the Netherlands: Schiphol Amsterdam Airport is the official English name, leading practically all foreigners to think that it's part of Amsterdam municipality while it's actually in the Haarlemmermeer municipality. But Amsterdam is more widely known.

It is called that so Ryanair's flights appear on searches for Frankfurt. It is to make money.
      www.irishtimes.com/business/german-court-restores-ryanair-s-right-to-use-frankfurt-hahn-name-in-advertising-1.1059918
But at least this isn't relevant now as Ryanair have managed to get a cheap contract to use a back area of Frankfurt main airport that nobody uses and run buses from the plane to the terminal. Hahn airport will probably go bankrupt when Ryanair stops using it.

Imagine it might be a bit confusing also that Tokyo International Airport actually refers to the smaller of the city's 2 airports - _Haneda_ instead of _Narita_ - although the former is indeed nearer to the downtown
